Too funny! I was really hoping the pastor wouldn’t get mad. I’m glad he had a good sense of humor about the whole thing!

I’m going to have to be the lone stick in the mud and say that this made me cringe and I found it to be about as unfunny as anything I’d ever seen. And if that had been MY kid, I’d have taken him out behind the woodshed later and thought hard of him, as my grandmother used to say.

This should be a joyous thing yes, a celebration, but also solemn and reverent. It’s not just a “dunking.” It’s a picture of the death, burial, and resurrection of our *Lord*…not a time that calls for a cannonball. Either that boy didn’t truly understand the significance of what was happening, in which case maybe he needed further counseling, or he just didn’t care and that’s even more sad.

    Just my opinion. YMMV. :)

Oh my goodness, I watched it twice, and then sent it to every known relative!!!! (and my youth pastor) that is sooooo funny

My daddy would have “tanned my hide.” And my parents weren’t the spanking type. As a baptist, I must say he needn’t be baptized twice. :>)

Although I agree with Southern Girl, if this was my child I would be livid … but I am impressed at how calmly the Pastor took it. I can totally see this happening in my congregation and my Pastor reacting the same way.

That was hilarious! I was at a baptism for an older man a few years ago, and when the pastor brought him back up from the water, his toupe had fallen off! What made it worse was that the pastor noticed and then pushed the man back under the water so he could get the toupe on. It was so funny, but we all felt very bad for the guy!

That was hilarious…I made my husband come watch it. I was baptized in a swimming pool cause the church didn’t have a baptismal…I sure wish I’d of thought of doing that. My dad was the pastor and he’s the one that baptized me. lol

Oh my word! If my brother had done that (and he would’ve, if he’d thought of it!), it would’ve been his last memory before entering the pearly gates. I’m not sure my dad would’ve even waited ’til getting home! You know that kid’s parents were crawling under the pews toward the back doors . . .

Because we’ve been Baptist since the day we were born, my husband and I think that was a real dunking. It’s so funny I’ve watched it 10 times. My husband wanted to show it to my son, but I was scared of planting ideas in his head. He loves a good cannonball!
