In Which I Doubt The Possibility Of A Normal Home Environment

December 5, 2006

Look!

Christmas exploded!

So did boxes filled with home accessories!

And clothes…

img_1159.JPG

…and toys…

img_1156.JPG

…and OH MY MERCY will we ever get settled?

By the way, does anyone know where the gold finials that were on top of my china cabinet are? The ones that I got at Kirkland’s?

Because I have no idea.

I have lost so many things on so many moves. I usually blame the movers. One time we lost a cat toy that we thought was under the frig or behind the dryer. We finally figured that the cat just ate it. Some things can be too realistic.

Well, you haven’t even been there that long. . .I’m thinking you’re doin’ good to be able to identify ANYTHING. AND you have a lovely poinsettia added to your lovely decor–so seasonal amidst the carboard boxes.

I love the little runners in the last picture so neatly almost side by side in the midst of all the toys.

That’s pretty much what my house looks like. The problem is that I moved in October…oops! I have had the hardest time decorating for Christmas because my house isn’t decorated yet. There are still boxes of candles, pictures, knick knacks in the living room. And I hung my first pictures on the wall this week…2 of them. Maybe by next Christmas I will have accomplished something. So hang in there, you’re already doing a better job than I am!

Oh, and I love your blog and sense of humor. I’ve lurked for a while but am feeling risky tonight so I decided to leave a comment. Keep up the good work. And I’m looking forward to the Christmas Tour of Homes, if I can get my decorating act together before then!

They’ll turn up as soon as you buy some new ones to replace them.

I’m still looking for the brackets that hold up the shelves in my bookcase — and we’ve lived here 5 years. I have replaced them, of course, but every once in a while, I wonder… I KNOW I put them…? DARN!

The finials are probably in the same place where my FORTY DOLLARS of just-purchased Christmas stamps are…vanished into a sucking black hole…

    It WILL come together!

I remember the year we moved into a new house on December 5th. I was eight months pregnant and had done NO Christmas shopping. I somehow managed to get the house together, put Christmas up, get the shopping done and host my family because I was under Dr.’s orders not to travel.

The Dr. didn’t “get” that traveling would have been much easier on me than doing Christmas at home.

    It WILL come together.

And the finials will show up.

Your house is fine, BooMama. We moved Thanksgiving and all we have up by way of Christmas decorations is our nativity and a tree with no ornaments. But hey, it’s something! And your gold finials are probably with hanging out somewhere with my silverware…

    Hey BooMama!
If I were you, I would just leave everything and go and get a blizzard. Probably by the time you get home those finials would have walked right out of one of the many boxes!

  16. Michelle Spanos says:

Yes I know where they are! They’re in the last place you’d ever look and you’ll find them once you decided you either don’t need them or have bought new!! Grab a diet coke, it’ll help you think better!!

  17. Ashleigh says:

Maybe those gold finials went to same place all the socks sneak off to while they’re in the dryer? Once I find the entire package of baby socks stashed there, I’ll send you your finials!
