A Bloggity Book Club Extravaganza

In light of your many sweet comments and recommendations regarding my determination to READ AGAIN, OH MY WORD, my friend Robin made the suggestion that we start a little book club.

And I was all, “OKAY!”

So we’re going to do just that. At least once. Robin’s going to host our first installment at her blog, because oh sweet mercy if you aren’t sick of my blog you should be.

Our first selection? Well, I let Miss Robin pick the book because, as she can attest, I am completely incapable of making such a decision. I changed my mind three times before she told me that the back and forth had been real fun and all but she was going to make this recommendation:

Get Out Of That Pit!: Straight Talk About God’s Deliverance – by Beth Moore

And once Robin made the call, it seemed only fitting since there are several new readers in this corner of the blogosphere who found their way here via The LPM Blog.

We’d love for you to join us. And here’s how our little Bloggity Book Club will work.

After you finish reading Beth’s book, you’ll write a post on your impressions of / questions about / lessons from the book. You do NOT have to write a five-paragraph essay seeing as how you’re no longer in eleventh grade; you can just write a loose, informal response to the book. Typical blog post fare. If you have trouble getting started, there are some study questions in the back of the book that will help.

After you post your reactions on your blog on Friday, March 9, head over to Robin’s blog, where she’ll have a Mr. Linky (no idea what a Mr. Linky is? Look at the end of this post). You’ll put up a link to your book club post on the Mr. Linky…and then we all can make our way through all of the posts by using Robin’s place as a hub. This isn’t a long-term committment; we’ll just try it one time and see how it goes.

It’ll be simple. It’ll be fun. And hopefully it’ll be edifying for us all.

Also: if you’d like to participate but don’t think you can afford the book right now, send me an email and let me know…I think I can round up some people who will cover the expense of a few books so that money isn’t a hindrance. And if you’d like to donate a book or two, email me and let me know that as well.

Hope to see you at Robin’s on March 9! Let me know in the comments if you plan to join us, and I’ll email you a link for a sidebar button so that we can get the word out.

Love y’all!

Wow. I guess it’s not a coincidence that I started reading this book about an hour ago. Count me in!

I’m sure I’ll be blogging about the book as I go anyway, as I am prone to do…

I might decide to read with you if you continue this in the future. Right now, all of my reading time is committed to the 90 Days study. But I will let you know if I decide to participate later on.

Happy reading.

I’m in! I’ve loved Beth Moore since I was in college. And since my reading lately has been limited to clothes catalogs and blogs, it’ll do me good.

oh my goodness, Boomama…I just happened to stop by back here after a week or so, and am not only excited about the book club…but about this first book!
You see, I am going to Beth Moore’s telecast seminar in a couple of weeks that is based on this very book! (She will be speaking live from Texas, and many churches, including ours, will show it on a huge screen. An all-day seminar!)
So I have said all that to say, please count me in! (Plus, I love book clubs in general!)
Blessings!

Well, dear one, I have begun the book and not finished, so count me in. A deadline might help me–”get out of that pit.” I asked our friend, Jennie of TC@TC,(explain that one to your Martha) if she was going to do this and she said “No, but you should do it since you have the book.” So here I am — a grandmother who knows zilch about blogging, who has never been in a book club and since my own children grew up, probably only read an average of one book a year! So I will be oh so daring and try this also or at least read what you ladies have to say. (by the way, Are comments limited to a certain number of sentences?)

I hope I will be in. I looked on Amazon here and it takes 1-3 weeks to arrive. That means closer to the 3 weeks! I know from experience. Sigh. Off to see if it is at my Christian bookshop instead.

Hmmm….do you have to have a blog to participate? Is that so you have a place to post your comments/opinions, and then your friend provides links to everyone’s blog?

Count me in! I’m going to a Beth Moore Conference this weekend in Detroit! WooHoo! I’ll pick up the book then and start my reading!

Alas, my “to read” basket is full to overflowing, literally. Maybe the next pick? We have this book in the bookstore, so I’ll set aside two books to mail to wherever you tell me. Let me know. It sounds great!

I’m new to blogging and a new reader of your site, and I love it! I have found myself reading-challenged of late and would love the accountability of the book club, so I’m in. Also, I’ve never read anything by Beth Moore. Looking forward to it!

Found your blog through Amanda’s “lovely web wonder” (LPM blog). It’s Awesome! I’m very new to blgging – like, yours was the 2nd one I’d ever seen. Then,
yours led me to a world I never knew existed. WOW!
Just started “Get Out Of That Pit” about 3 hrs before you posted this. I can hardly put it down. I would love to do the book club, but I’m still trying to figure out this blog thing. Went to “Blogging Basics 101″. Great info! Learned I’ve been “lurking” (so sorry).I think I need PRE-”Blogging Basics 101″. Like, what do you do right after you turn on your computer??!!
If I figure all this out in time, I’ll definitely participate in the book club.

I have been hoping to find a Christian women’s book club so this is an answer to prayer:-)

Can’t wait to get started on this book- it is always so much more fun when you know you get to “talk about it” with friends.

I’m game and look forward to the deadline since I started the book a few weeks back. Robin said she’s the blond in the middle, I’ll be the red head, since I have red hair and all. Can’t wait!

GREAT idea. I’ve been meaning to email you ever since your post about the LPM blog to find out where I should start since it looks like Beth Moore has SO many different things to read. And, well, especially since I need to GET OUT OF THIS PIT! So this is perfect! Is this book of hers new? I checked, but the latest book of hers that my library has in from 2004…

You know I love you dearly, and Robin of course, too, and I love being included, but I think if I take on one more project or responsibility my head might pop off.

That said, I peeked in Beth’s book the other day and thought, Oh! That looks great! So when I do read it, I’ll email you and let you know what I think. Okay?

And if you do more than one book selection, count me in. If it’s fun, of course :)

I would love to join in! I learned of your blog through the LPM blog, and I just gotta say that a whole new world has opened up for this single mom. I’m not very familiar with blogging yet. Do I have to have my own blog to participate in this?
I am volunteering for the simulcast in Tyler. Beth will be at my home church. We are all bursting at the seams with excitement over it!
