Last Friday when we got home from the beach, I found several delightful little packages in the mail, one of which contained a few CD’s from a Christian music label. Y’all know that I LOVE ME SOME MUSIC, so I couldn’t wait to sit down and listen to the goods.
(Also: for those of you who have commented or emailed to ask how I’m getting free stuff from people, I have no idea. I think maybe it’s because I’m listed with Blog Top Sites, but that’s just a guess. And yes, I am a veritable fount of helpful information.)
It was Saturday night before I loaded the CD’s on our computer and transferred the songs to my iPod. I started listening while I was working on a couple of blog posts, and while I thought two of the CD’s were great, one of them flat-out blew me away. It’s called Glory Revealed.
Glory Revealed – which features Christian artists like David Crowder, Shane & Shane, Mark Hall, Candi Pearson-Shelton and Steven Curtis Chapman, among others – is different from a lot of other stuff I’ve heard lately because every single song is inspired by and rooted in Scripture. And I almost feel like the words “inspired by” are misleading, because if I hadn’t heard the CD I might think Oh, okay – somebody read about Job and then wrote a song about trials. But that’s not it, really.
Because what the songwriters did for this CD was to set Scripture to music. There are a few deviations from the text because of rhyme scheme or verse structure or whathaveyou, but for the most part the lyrics are straight from God’s Word. And as a result, this CD is inspirational in a way that only Scripture can be. It will touch you right down to the very core of your heart.
Glory Revealed was produced by Mac Powell of Third Day, and according to executive producer David Nasser, “the purpose of this project is to celebrate God’s truth through worship.” I especially appreciate that the producers are very clear about the fact that worship isn’t about us; in fact, Nasser makes a point to say that “everything God has ever done, and everything He will forever do, He does with one intent: to reveal Himself and to receive honor and glory.”
To which I say: Yes. Preach on. Hallelujah.
After I listened to the CD about five times in a row Saturday night, I emailed the person who sent it to me with really eloquent comments like “!!!” and “I HEART GLORY REVEALED 4 EVR” and “I’m going to marry track #3.”
I also asked, in a rush of enthusiasm – without stopping to think about the fact that I WAS BEING VERY PRESUMPTUOUS – if he would please send me some more CD’s and let me do some kind of giveaway on my blog.
AND DO YOU KNOW WHAT WAS ON MY FRONT PORCH TUESDAY AFTERNOON?
So if you’d like to be eligible lay claim to one of these twelve copies, here’s what you have to do:
Leave a comment, making sure your email address is oh-so-accurate. And for kicks, tell me the name of your very favorite recording artist of all time ever (for me, it’s a four-way tie between James Taylor, Watermark, John Mayer and Chris Tomlin – and yes, I enjoy a singer-songwriter).
That’s it!
Tomorrow night at 7 o’clock central I’ll turn off the comments on this post, and then I’ll (quite literally) put everyone’s name in a hat. The four year old will draw twelve names out of the hat sometime this weekend, and if you’re one of the twelve, I’ll email you to get your address so I can mail your copy to you.
I’m so excited about being able to share this CD with people. And even if you don’t “win” a copy in my little drawing, you can still go here for a free song download and a coupon for $5 off the CD purchase price.
Finally, many, many thanks to the folks at Provident Music for the bloggity hook-up. Some of you are going to be mighty blessed as a result.
And that just tickles me to death.
Edited to add: I’ll leave comments on until around 10 pm central. Mainly because we’re going out to supper, and I don’t think I’ll be here to turn off comments at 7. And contrary to what you might think, I do not wear the computer on a chain around my neck in public.
I only do that at home.

March 29th, 2007 at 7:38 pm

March 29th, 2007 at 7:41 pm
Wow, favorite artist … Currently and for years now, Phillips Craig and Dean. If we’re talking secular, probably Michael Bolton. This sounds like a great CD! Even if I don’t win, sounds like one I’ll have to add to my collection!
March 29th, 2007 at 7:46 pm
Favorite artist of all time…hmmm…I am currently into Ginny Owens, Casting Crowns, and Vicki Yohe. I have so many favorites that it was hard to narrow it down. Thanks for the wonderful drawing!
March 29th, 2007 at 7:47 pm
I love David Nassar – I had no idea he produced this CD – I’ve heard the first cut with SCC and Mac singing and it is SO good!
What an awesome opportunity you have to share! (I hope I win!)
I have WAY too many favorites but I usually end up listening to Dave Matthews, U2, Chris Tomlin, Christy Nockels, and Ginny Owens.
March 29th, 2007 at 7:49 pm
Can’t say that I have a favorite all time artist, but my current favorite group is Casting Crowns and I just love a song by Big Daddy Weave called “Every Time I Breathe.”
March 29th, 2007 at 7:50 pm
Well since you didn’t limit yourself to just one I see no reason to.
If I HAD to choose one it would have to be Rich Mullins. I also love me some Third Day, Rascal Flats, Simon and Garfunkel, Journey…who me, confused?
I know I’m leaving someone out here.
March 29th, 2007 at 7:51 pm

Thanks for the fun contest Boomama!
March 29th, 2007 at 7:53 pm
P.S.
David Nassar’s website has the cutest t-shirts. They say “I love my husband” so, I HAD to have one. : )
It is my favorite!
March 29th, 2007 at 7:54 pm
Elvis Presley–it’s true!
March 29th, 2007 at 8:00 pm
fav-o-rite artist of all time: whatever my dh decides is on the ipod…ok, really, I’m an old skool Christian music fan so I still like TobyMac (as in dctalk)…but to be honest with what I actually listen to most of all, I’ll have to say tie between Jack Johnson/Harry Connick Jr/Sixpence None the Richer. *whew*
March 29th, 2007 at 8:01 pm
I love contests! Favorite artist….hmmm..right now it’s the kids Hi-5 group…because thats all I EVER listen too these days….does that count?

Shane & Shane. Bethany Dillon. Nichole Nordeman. Shane & Shane have a cd called Psalms that is pretty much almost literally psalms set to music. GREAT Stuff!
March 29th, 2007 at 8:03 pm

favorite recording artist of all time ~ Clint Brown ~ I’m a choir/worship music kinda gal myself.
March 29th, 2007 at 8:07 pm
Wow–my friend JUST told me about this CD this morning. So, I hope I win, but if not I’m buying it.
Based on your favorites, I think that you might like Andrew Peterson. He’s sort of James Taylor-y is a Christian way (with a little Paul Simon thrown in).
I know that wasn’t your question. Favorite ever is probably Billy Joel, although I don’t listen to him much anymore. Current favorite is maybe Mercy Me (Spoken For CD specifically) or FFH.
(I’m glad that you set the standard by allowing your answer to be a 4-way tie).
March 29th, 2007 at 8:10 pm
Favorites: James Taylor, Bob Seger (LOVE a deep voice on a man), a group called A Cappella… don’t even know if they’re still together, but I keep re-recording the same CD onto a cassette tape for my car (“Roll the Stone Away”)….Oh, and Cher’s early stuff, mostly cause she and my mom looked just alike when mom was young!
March 29th, 2007 at 8:10 pm
It is funny when I read this my three picks were Newsboys, David Crowder and Chris Tomlin and I see Becky picked the exact three! I don’t know her, but it sounds like we have the same taste in music! My son is reading this with me and told me I had to include his favorites which are Reliant K and KJ-52. I have to admit I just started listening to KJ-52 because it is what my son had on and he is really good!
March 29th, 2007 at 8:11 pm
Favorite Artist – AMY GRANT!!!
March 29th, 2007 at 8:14 pm
I would have to say U2, Sting, Chris Tomlin, Caedmon’s Call. No particular order!
March 29th, 2007 at 8:15 pm
I’d just be lying to you and myself if I didn’t say that my favorite artist of all time is Sir Elton John. And I inherited this affinity entirely from my Mama!
March 29th, 2007 at 8:15 pm
As many as I like and listen to, I am always transported back in time when I hear the Eagles. They were my “college band” and
just the opening bars of one of their songs brings back a flood of memories and smiles.
How lucky are you and HOW generous!
Thanks, even if I don’t win…you are just so sweet to share with your bloggy pals.
March 29th, 2007 at 8:18 pm
Eagles, U2, Chris RIce, Step[hen Curtis Chapman, Phillips Craig and Dean …. and MERCYME
March 29th, 2007 at 8:18 pm

March 29th, 2007 at 8:24 pm
My favorite usually depends on what day it is, or what kind of day it is. CeCe Winans is always at the top. I also enjoy anything by Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir.
March 29th, 2007 at 8:27 pm
I would think you are looking for Christian artists. I enjoy a very wide variety of contemporty Christian music/artists, but these are CD’s that have ministered to me over and over again.
Zola Levitt–ALL his music has such an anointed on it. He went to be with the Lord last April, a great loss to the Body of Christ, but a reward for Zola.
Don Moen–Let His Glory Fall
Paul Wilbur–Jerusalem Arise
Carmen–Anything he does
March 29th, 2007 at 8:31 pm
Count me in! I love Billy Joel and James Taylor!

March 29th, 2007 at 8:32 pm

If you never got past “Seize the Day” (which I didn’t think was fantastic), you’ve missed out. “Surprised by Joy” and most of her others are good.
March 29th, 2007 at 8:35 pm
Oh wow! I’d totally love to win this. Actually I totally NEED to win this.
Favorite recording artist of all time? AH! That is a hard one! I can only pick one? Well, there is nothing like some good Joni Mitchell, namely her album Blue.

I’ve been eyeing this CD and wondered if it was any good. So thanks for sharing.

What a great CD – I almost bought it when I was in the bookstore!!! May still have to – I never win!!! BUT – thanks so much for the review AND the chance to win!! My favorite??? Hmmmm, secular – I enjoy Josh Groban (but I am NOT a Grobanite!!!) for Christian – LOVE Aaron Shust, Steven Curtis Chapman, my favorite “oldie” is Twila Paris.

March 29th, 2007 at 8:37 pm
I’ve been looking at that CD – I’m glad for the great review and chance to win! Whoo hoo! My favorites always change but right now it is Nicole C. Mullen. Love her!!
March 29th, 2007 at 8:38 pm
You make this hard! Old time favorites for me are John Denver, James Taylor, and Carole King.
For a Christian song artist – I’m crazy about Chris Tomlin. An older favorite is Larry Theiss but I don’t know if anyone knows his music. If I had to pick just ONE – Michael W. Smith.
March 29th, 2007 at 8:41 pm
This is AWESOME!! Thank you so much for thinking of your dear readers. What a fantabulous way of sharing an item you ‘heart’. :o)

March 29th, 2007 at 8:47 pm
My favorite would truly depend on what mood I am in. It would probably all come down to Josh Groban, Steven Curtis Chapman, Kathy Troccoli, Tait, and Nicole Mullens. Thanks for including us in the fun of it all!
March 29th, 2007 at 8:47 pm
WOW! How cool is that?? I cannot pick just one favorite recording artist. Love me some Chris Tomlin, Big Daddy Weave, Mark Schultz, Casting Crowns…
You are so nice to think of all us lil’ people!
March 29th, 2007 at 8:51 pm
It’s too hard to pick one favorite! Let’s see…Chris Rice, tobyMac, Caedmon’s Call, are a couple of my favorites and choirs like Brooklyn Tab and Christ Church are always good too.
My hubby and I both have the David Nasser t-shirts that say “I love my husband/wife” and my kids have the one that says “My mom rocks.” They are some of the best shirts!!
March 29th, 2007 at 8:54 pm
I’m always up for a contest so I’ll out of hiding and share some of my favs….too many to name but including Chris Tomlin, Darlene Zschech, and Kathryn Scott. Thanks for sharing!!
March 29th, 2007 at 8:56 pm
What an incredible act of generosity on your part. So, for the contest… I am thinking it is a tie between Mercy Me (let’s see… that’s a group? does it still count?)or Steven Curtis Chapman for his depth, range, emotion and plain old devotion to God. Have a wonderful Lord’s Day!
March 29th, 2007 at 8:57 pm
My all time faves are Casting Crowns, David Crowder Band, anything put out by Passion!
I heard about this cd recently. Thanks for giving it a thumbs up!
March 29th, 2007 at 8:57 pm
My friend Stacy talks and talks about you *as my eyes roll*, but I decided to log on 2 weeks ago and see what all the fuss was. I’m hooked. You are hookable…and adorable. Thanks for sharing your joy. Gotta say Barry Manilow. I didn’t say I loved HIM, just his music. And George Straight…love both HIM AND his music! Most favorite…Sarah McGlaughlin, hands down.
March 29th, 2007 at 8:57 pm
This is kind of embarrassing, but my favourite at the moment (I can’t pick all time, too hard) would have to be Colin Buchanan – an Australian singer – but the thing is you see, my favourite of his stuff is… ahem… his kids’ albums.
March 29th, 2007 at 8:57 pm
Absolutely without a doubt Third Day, followed by Casting Crowns and Mercy Me and Toby Mac! If they would all do a tour together I might just pass right out from excitement!
March 29th, 2007 at 9:00 pm
Favorite artist of all time is most definitely U2. They just tear up my heart!
PS – Your friend Merritt is the awesome room mom for my 5th grade class. ;)
March 29th, 2007 at 9:02 pm
I have a few favorites. But I guess the ones at the top of my list are Phillips, Craig, and Dean and Hillsong music (Darlene Zcheck/Reuban Morgan).

March 29th, 2007 at 9:11 pm
There are SO many great artists out there. I have to say that Phil Keaggy is my all time favorite, but I also love Chris Rice, Newsboys, Jars of Clay….I could go on and on.

March 29th, 2007 at 9:17 pm
Wow…I agree with the Steven Curtis Chapman fan club here. And of course I love Casting Crowns as well…here’s hoping the four year old angel picks me. :D
March 29th, 2007 at 9:17 pm
Wow. I think my favorite recording artist is either Dennis Jernigan (praise and worship music) or anyone who does a good job with Rachmaninoff piano concertos. Maybe, say, Van Cliburn.
I sure hope Boo picks me! I’d love to hear that CD. I’ve been trying to memorize scripture along with my children by playing scripture-to-music CDs in the car. I think we’ve memorized everything we have so far, so we would love some new material!

Currently Miss Pear rocks out to Mercy Me (you should see her dance – very enthusiastic for a 22 month old!
Thanks for doing this!
March 29th, 2007 at 9:20 pm
Thanks for offering the CDs! My favorite artist is currently Norah Jones. I need to catch up on the Christian music genre. My favorites are from about 10 years ago. (We did have a Third Day song in our wedding, though!)
March 29th, 2007 at 9:20 pm
Oh how much fun is this!
Jeremy Camp, Billy Joel, Rascal Flatts, and Erasure are some of my favorites.
March 29th, 2007 at 9:24 pm
My favorite is Sonia King, from the U.K. Love your blog!
March 29th, 2007 at 9:25 pm
So… my email addie is oh-so-accurate, but I’m honestly just throwing my name in here “for kicks”, since I have yet to ever, even once, in any kind of event, win something like this. So here ya go… just for kicks.
Favorite, ALL-TIME? I have no clue. I’ll say :draws name out of mental hat:, Fernando Ortega. I love his music, and his talent, and his heart… so I’ll go with that one.
March 29th, 2007 at 9:28 pm
Oh, this is so cool….I have loved Barry Manilow since I was probably 8 or 9. I also love James Taylor, Kenny Loggins, Chris Tomlin and Casting Crowns. And I want to recommend another song for you. It’s on Selah’s Duet CD and the song is called Glory. They sing it with Nicole Nordemann and it is AMAZING. I play that track over and over again.
March 29th, 2007 at 9:31 pm
so I feel in love w/ the cd just from your post and was quite excited to read that you were given some to give away… since I never win anything I was even more excited to find a free download and a coupon! I’ll try for the freebie though… just in case! ;)
total favorite (right now anyway) has got to be Casting Crowns. I just keep playing them over and over! Even put a song of theirs on my blog!
March 29th, 2007 at 9:32 pm
All time favorite recording artist??? Can’t pick just one…I’d have to say Darlene Zschech, Amy Grant, Natalie Grant, Journey and The Police.
Hoping for an e-mail over the weekend!!
March 29th, 2007 at 9:35 pm
OH! Pick me! Pick me! :) I’ve heard about that one on the radio & just knew from the hearing that it would be a good one. Favorite of all time? Man, that’s hard. But I love me some Third Day. or Casting Crowns. or Avalon. or Mercy Me. or Or…or…or… ;)
March 29th, 2007 at 9:35 pm
It’s too hard to pick just one favorite.
James Taylor, Eagles, Michael W. Smith,
Carly Simon, Celine.
March 29th, 2007 at 9:37 pm
Well throw my name into the hat. I think my favorite artist right now is Mercy Me thats a group made up of artists, right?
March 29th, 2007 at 9:41 pm
Woo hoo! Watermark is my fave.
March 29th, 2007 at 9:42 pm
I know the odds of winning will probably be 1 in 500 by 7pm tomorrow, but I’ll put my name in that hat just the same.
But how can I pick my all-time favorite artist? I don’t even think I can narrow it down to a 4-way tie! Thinking, thinking, thinking! Well, I can’t decide, and rather than list the same artists everyone else has already listed, I’ll tell you that my favorite artist in 1993 was Kim Boyce.
Okay, I thought some more, and ALL-time might have to go to Rich Mullins (but there are a ton of great artists fighting for 1st).
March 29th, 2007 at 9:43 pm
This is a hard question as I listen to all kinds of music. I would have to say Eagles and Mercy Me. If you had asked about most recently listened to, it would be so much easier…anything by the Wiggles or Veggie Tales.
March 29th, 2007 at 9:43 pm
Only one favorite? I’m gonna have to go with Keith Urban, after all I did name my ride after him… Keith “Sub”Urban.
March 29th, 2007 at 9:44 pm
What a blessing to receive those CD’s and what a fun way to give them away! If we’re talking favorite artist of ALL time, I must go with a three way tie: (secular and Christian–The Eagles, Third Day and Steven Curtis Chapman.
March 29th, 2007 at 9:44 pm
Oh my. Oh MY.
James Taylor…no, John Denver…or Elton John…possibly John Tesh…Michael W. Smith…Third Day…Steven Curtis Chapman…
I can’t choose. You choose for me.
March 29th, 2007 at 9:45 pm
Long-time lurker here…
My five faves? Kathy Mattea, Brandi Carlile, Queen, Beatles and Crowded House (and Styx…).
Ok, that’s six. But I like them all equally, I sware. Swear, even.
March 29th, 2007 at 9:46 pm
Um, wow. Favorite??? Probably Point of Grace. Cheesy girl group, yes. But the harmonies! Get thyself to iTunes and download their single of All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name NOW!!
March 29th, 2007 at 9:47 pm
Hi Boomama, please toss my name into the hat! What a fun contest!! And, I’m not going to follow the exact rules because I can’t quite decide on a favorite of ALL time, but favorites in this season of life are: Chris Tomlin, Sara Groves and Nicole Nordeman.
March 29th, 2007 at 9:50 pm
Wow. A free CD giveaway. Sounds great. Please add me to the list!! Thanks. Um..favorites: U2, David Wilcox, Indigo Girls, Counting Crows, Andrew Peterson
March 29th, 2007 at 9:55 pm

March 29th, 2007 at 10:17 pm
PICK ME! PICK ME!
God has been doing this thing in me reguarding WORSHIP! and the comment about it is not about me is so true. MY Heart is crying out for true WORSHIP and Freedom.
the best ever ELVIS and I just love Willie Nelson
March 29th, 2007 at 10:21 pm
Wow, picking a favorite singer?! That’s like saying you have to pick between diet coke or chocolate or like hugs or something!!! Ok wow, bringing it down. :)
That is just too hard, so I am just going to go with the singer closest to my heart–Kara, my beloved roommate from college. I used to stand outside her bedroom door and listen as she sang with that soul-reaching voice of hers. Suprisingly, we’re still best of friends despite that stalkerish tendancy.
The giveaway idea is so fun! Hope you have a great rest of the week :)
March 29th, 2007 at 10:26 pm
Oh what fun! Please put my name in.
Pick one? Michael W. Smith, Steven Curtis Chapman, James Taylor, John Mayer, Josh Groban, Tina Turner, Billy Joel, Chris Tomlin…impossible to pick just one!
March 29th, 2007 at 10:27 pm
How thrilling!! Brian Littrel — who sang the last song “You Alone” — he was a member of the Backstreet Boys. And yes ma’am you know I loved me some bboys. Now, a christian artist — Praise Praise!@!!!Sister — if little man doesn’t draw my name I’m just gonna have to go purchase this one!! So tickled — in great need of a new cd!! Love love
March 29th, 2007 at 10:27 pm
OK you pulled me out of lurkdome!(is that even a word?)
I have 2 favs – Christian being Brian Doerksen and secular being Jann Arden – what can i say i am a good old fashioned canadian girl! Thanks for the great contest and I love your blog!

Wow, I had to stop reading the comments, cause I kept going, “Me, too…oh, yeah…right…” And I’m trying to limit my list. So…eclectic as it may be, here it is: Elvis, George Strait, Amy Grant, and old school Imperials.
March 29th, 2007 at 10:33 pm
HOW FUN!
One of my all time favorites is:
Rich Mullins.
March 29th, 2007 at 10:35 pm

Fave is John Denver. :o)

March 29th, 2007 at 10:45 pm
Boomama, I heard about this CD a week ago when Mac Powell was on one of our local radio shows, “Rick & Bubba”. I’m so eager to hear this CD and hope I’m one of the “chosen”!!!
My all-time favorite artist, especially the Christian genre, would have to be KEITH GREEN. I saw him in concert before he died, and it was the most awesome concert I’ve ever been to.
He was way ahead of his time and such a deep, spiritual thinker. He music to me, is timeless.
March 29th, 2007 at 10:45 pm

Thanks, BooMama, for thinking of your faithful readers and sharing the wealth!
My favorite of ALL time musician is a tie between James Taylor and Alison Krauss.
Christian music right now is Casting Crowns (I love love love The Voice of Truth), TobyMac (another old DCTalk Jesus Freak), and of course Stephen Curtis Chapman!
Thanks!
March 29th, 2007 at 11:06 pm
I love your blog -I’ve lurked for months now. :)
My all time fave is the wonderfully smooth and mellow Sweet Baby James Taylor. My other faves are Corrine Bailey Rae (she’s Norah Jones-y), Stephen Curtis Chapman, TobyMac (thanks to my 12 yr old son) and Ginny Owens.
have a great Friday!
March 29th, 2007 at 11:12 pm
How fun is this? My favorite group would be…Mercy Me…maybe the Newsboys too. I’m anxious to at least hear this CD…it sounds wonderful.
March 29th, 2007 at 11:22 pm
I have trained you oh, so very well to love the singer-songwriter. :)
And Provident Music Rocks.
March 29th, 2007 at 11:24 pm
Hey BooMama -
I am new to the blogging community and found the link to your site from the LPM blog. I keep coming back because your writing style and sense of humor just intrigue me…the stunt pillows and professional gravy drinking just had me rolling!
I heard about this CD on a Christian Radio Station and if I don’t win one I will definitely purchase it! My favorite Christian artist of all time is Nicole C Mullen (Redeemer and When I Call on Jesus). Toby Mac would be a close second because my kids dig him!
Blessings ~ Cinde
March 29th, 2007 at 11:30 pm

March 29th, 2007 at 11:32 pm

March 29th, 2007 at 11:34 pm
Ok, the offer of a free CD (or just the temptation of the possiblity) pulled me out of lurkdom. :) Favorite artist? Casting Crowns…hands down.
March 29th, 2007 at 11:34 pm
CASTING CROWNS!!!!! AND SARA GROVES!!! AND CHRIS TOMLIN!!!! AND STEVEN CURTIS CHAPMAN!!!! (Here’s hoping the “exclamation point vibe” transfers through to your sweet Alex, and he’ll mysteriously be drawn to choose my name!) :) Just kidding – either way, I’m gonna have to go out and get me one of these CDs! Loved, loved, loved the demo clips!
March 29th, 2007 at 11:41 pm
I love Steven Curtis Chapman!
March 29th, 2007 at 11:43 pm
Without a doubt Rascal Flatts. Hubby and I haven’t missed a concert here they’ve had here. LOVE LOVE LOVE THEM! Did I mention I love them?
March 29th, 2007 at 11:43 pm
okay that “a concert here they’ve had here” totally wasn’t meant to come out that way. Guess I got all giddy! ;)
March 30th, 2007 at 12:31 am
Gotta say James Taylor- add me in!
March 30th, 2007 at 12:46 am
Its too hard to pick one – mine would be Steven Curtis Chapman, Chris Tomlin with a runner up of Selah and David Crowder.
March 30th, 2007 at 12:59 am
Favorite is tough since I seem to go through phases of listening to one CD for weeks, and then move on to another. So, if I were stranded on a desert island, what 3 CD’s would I want to have? Garth Brooks: Double Live–cause it’s got ‘em all; Wynonna: Her Story–cause it’s got a lot of ‘em AND “I Can Only Imagine” which turns me into one very large goose bump every-single-time, and Ruthstrom and Robertson: Out of the Shadows, just cause I love their music, and it feels like visiting with an old friend whenever I listen!
March 30th, 2007 at 1:26 am
Hey Boo Mama~
I love, love James Taylor too, and the new girl Corrine Bailey Rae has a great sound as well. As far as a christian artist I loved Keith Green and he had a great testimony! Lately I have enjoyed some of David Phelps, he sings from his heart! :)
March 30th, 2007 at 1:27 am
i have so many i love listening to, but i think chris tomlin has some of the most amazing, heart felt songs i’ve heard in a long time.

March 30th, 2007 at 1:47 am
It has to be Elvis Presley!
March 30th, 2007 at 1:49 am
Love christian singer Shawn Mcdonald. He’s just earthy and raw and real.
Gayle
March 30th, 2007 at 2:30 am
Hi Boo Mama,
it is really hard to choose just one, but I would have to say -Jars of Clay. I have been listening to one of their albums off and on, often on-exclusively for about 4 years now. I can beat a dead horse, it seems… something about that album just speaks to me. Steven Curtis Chapman would probably be my next pick.
enter me in the contest! the cd sounds great!!
March 30th, 2007 at 4:01 am
hey, boo mama!
fave artist — watermark. the best!
hugs!
mamabeck

And, gee, I’m almost embarrassed to admit this but I just love Mac Davis. Yeah, I know, pitiful right.
If we’re talking Christian recording artist it has to be Steve Green.
March 30th, 2007 at 4:58 am
Some of my favorites:
Stephen Curtis Chapman
Michael W. Smith
4 Him
I’m international and haven’t heard of some of the artists on this cd. (shhhhh! Don’t tell!) Can I still play?
March 30th, 2007 at 5:03 am

March 30th, 2007 at 5:27 am
With a bless your socks off testimony – it has to be Ginny Owens.
March 30th, 2007 at 5:37 am
How fun!
Favorite artist(s) would have to be..Third Day, U2, Chris Tomlin.
March 30th, 2007 at 5:59 am
Thank you for your ministry. I already ordered this DVD today. I needed it so badly, just the few Words of the Lord are ministering to my soul. I don’t have one favorite…I need His Words.
March 30th, 2007 at 6:14 am
My husband and daughter are rolling their eyes at me as I type this….Willie Nelson is my all time favorite!

March 30th, 2007 at 6:14 am
Favorite artist of all time – I hate picking favorites because I like so many things – I’m with you on John Mayer and James Taylor, but I’ll add Bebo Norman, Alison Krauss and Billy Joel. I could listen to them all day long.
Sometimes I do.
March 30th, 2007 at 6:19 am

March 30th, 2007 at 6:44 am

March 30th, 2007 at 6:50 am
I saw someone else mentioned this, too, and it’s true for me as well. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Indigo Girls…always have, always will. I am a big James Taylor fan as well. Thanks for doing this.
March 30th, 2007 at 6:51 am
i was reading and thinking that the music would not be my style since I tend to like gospel music when it comes to the Christian genre, but I went to their website and listened to the clips and was pleasantly surprised! they have a really nice and contemporary sound.
My favorite artists are Mary J. Blige and Whitney Houston (bless her heart).
March 30th, 2007 at 6:52 am
My favourite musician is my husband. He plays the guitar at home only and I can sit and listen to him play all night. He is self taught, but played in chruch when he was younger.
Other than that? country music is my fave. Reba, Garth, Faith, etc
March 30th, 2007 at 7:02 am
Oh, just my kind of contest. I am desperate for some new music but committed to not buying anything while we work to pay off our debt. (Doing FPU these days.)
I have too many favorites to list but the ones currently on my playlist are Newsboys, Casting Crowns and Mercy Me. I used to listen to Point of Grace non-stop and I still like to sneak in a occassional tune from them as well.
March 30th, 2007 at 7:08 am
Oh dear…so sorry but I’m one of those people who has scarcely ever heard of, let alone heard, any of the aforementioned artists. So I would have to say that my choice of favorite recording artists of all time would be a tie between violinist Giuliano Carmignola and the Venice Baroque Orchestra. Does that count? :) And, by the by, I think I should let you know in this brief spurt of delurking that I am utterly and thoroughly addicted to your blog.
March 30th, 2007 at 7:09 am
Favorite artist…10 years ago I would have said Audio Adrenaline…today I will say Chris Tomlin. Interesting how our tastes change! Great contest! Thanks for sharing these with us!
March 30th, 2007 at 7:17 am

Thanks for the contest!
March 30th, 2007 at 7:49 am

Lifehouse; the Police; Jars of Clay; Nora Jones; Rascal Flatts; Diana Krall; The Cars; U2; Mercy Me; Jeremy Camp; Jude Cole; Casting Crowns; Five for Fighting; Faith Hill; Jason Mraz; Michelle Branch; John Mayer and literally the list could continue til Christ comes back.

Oh, and I can’t watch a Gaither Homecoming info-mercial without bawling my eyes out. Just something about the combiniation of the old greats and new kids and the awesome music, and Vestel waving her hankie, and Jake Hess’ perfect hair – just gets me every time.
Thanks for letting us in on the great new find!
March 30th, 2007 at 10:15 am

Well goodness! Since I’m a freebie-schneebie, I’ll have my name tossed into the hat. And, since I love music that spans the big ole spectrum from Michael W Smith to Dave Matthews and Pink Floyd, I’ve decided to pick my favorite right in the middle– Rusted Root. (The old stuff, though. Why did they change their style completely?!) Good luck to all! :)
March 30th, 2007 at 11:05 am
Wow if I had to choose – well there is no one like U2 in our generation and I have always loved Third Day – and please don’t hate me ’cause I know this may be a sensitive issue and it really isn’t and issue for me ’cause I live in the great white North (Canada) but I like the (whisper)Dixie Chicks. Ok I said it – love your blog by the way! Keep up the fantastic writing, it inspires me to keep trying.

Mac Powell, and Third Day – hands down. I just love the ‘southern rock” grit in his voice, and the spirit in his songs. His worship tracks lead me straight to the throne. Thanks, Boomama. Win or not, this is a great recommendation, and I so need some more music in my ipod!
~TaunaLen
March 30th, 2007 at 11:19 am
My “favorite” at the moment is Toby Mac. His songs ooze love for the Lord and inspire me to ooze along with him!
I just have to say that I love your site (not that you’ll actually have time to read this with over 200 comments!)… I’ve never commented – just a little lurkieloo.. but I have you set as my home page so I can get a giggle each and every morning!
Thanks for making us laugh in Washington!

March 30th, 2007 at 11:21 am
I love music so I can’t pick just one artist or group so here goes: watermark, jars of clay, U2, chris tomlin, sara groves, nichole nordeman and david crowder band. I could probably go on and on, but I won’t….
March 30th, 2007 at 11:21 am
For a week now, I have been going back and forth in my mind on whether to go ahead and buy the CD at Lifeway or order directly from the David Nasser web site. I had decided to order from Mr. Nasser’s website because he has written a devotional book that goes along with the CD! (I didn’t know if you knew that! And Lifeway doesn’t carry the book BUT I haven’t ordered yet.
I have no all time favorite artist. I’m currently listing to the new Toby Mac, Portable Sounds CD. I also like Third Day, Chris Tomlin, Nichole Nordeman, and then the harmony of Phillips, Craig and Dean…
March 30th, 2007 at 11:21 am
I can’t pick a favorite, but some of what I am currently listening to includes DCTalk, TobyMac, Tait, POD, Pillar & Avalon!
March 30th, 2007 at 11:24 am
I’ve never really thought of myself as having a favorite recording artist. But just from a sheer numbers standpoint, I love more songs by Billy Joel than any other artist.
March 30th, 2007 at 11:27 am
i love candi pearson-shelton’s voice. i kinda know her. in a roundabout way. you see, her brother rick pearson, was the music minister at our church before his much too early call home to heaven about a year and a half ago. i met her in the blood lab while i was sobbing my eyes out because my iron was too low to donate plasma to donate to rick. she is an amazing woman with an equally amazing voice. her cd rocks, btw!
the sounds like a wonderful cd!
i’d have to say that i don’t really have an “all time favorite” artist, but i do agree with you…..watermark, john mayer, shane & shane, sinatra, michael buble, tony bennett, and the list goes on and on.
March 30th, 2007 at 11:27 am
I read about Glory Revealed on the Lifeway website and decided to buy it as an Easter gift for everyone in my extended family! In fact, I bought every copy available in this town! Thanks for the review!
March 30th, 2007 at 11:29 am
You’re going to be very busy putting all of these names in a hat! Jack Johnson… not Christian, but fun music.
March 30th, 2007 at 11:29 am
Favorite of all time? How about a 3-way tie between Third Day, Casting Crowns and Mark Schultz.
March 30th, 2007 at 11:30 am
Having been a youth minister for 5 years, I have listened to alot of different Christian artists. One that stands out to me as being different in style and sound is Paul Wright–although if you like Jack Johnson, Paul’s sound is very similar. In particular (if you want to hear what I like) the title cuts to “Fly Away” and “Sunrise to Sunset” are incredible.
March 30th, 2007 at 11:39 am
Wow, you are going to have to pull alot of names out of a hat. maybe you’ll need two hats…
Anyway, my favorite recording artist of all time, eh? I have to pick just one? I guess not since you have a four way tie. Ok, well, I’m a big third day fan and casting corwns for christian music. I’d say for secular I’m a big Sheryl Crow fan. and I love the dixie chicks, too.
ok thanks…I hope I win :)
March 30th, 2007 at 11:40 am
I meant crowns…casting crowns. I’ve never heard of casting corwns. I hate typos :)
March 30th, 2007 at 12:08 pm
Sounds like a great CD! Ok – so my favorite artist of all time ever is…(laugh all you want – most of my friends do) Liza Minnelli!! Love her! Granted, the woman is flat crazy, but as a performer she is amazing!
March 30th, 2007 at 12:13 pm
I love Rascal Flatts. Me and my 6yr old Daughter enjoy belting them out. I grew up with Steven Curtis Chapman pumping through my veins.
March 30th, 2007 at 12:14 pm

March 30th, 2007 at 12:25 pm
Favorite artist of all time? Hmm…Watermark, Mark Schultz, New York Voices, Faith Hill…big ties all around! :) Thanks for doing this – I’ve been eyeing that CD for awhile now and I’m so excited about the chance to win one…we just can’t afford to buy it now. Thanks for your continual laughs and inspiration, BooMama! We internets sure do love you!

My goodness, I hope your hand doesn’t get cramped up from writing all these names down… but how much fun this will be!

March 30th, 2007 at 12:46 pm
Favorite all time artist…shall we time warp back to the 80′s when I owned every single Air Supply record and was totally “Lost in Love” with Russell Hitchcock. And of course there is the hottest thang evah in cowboy boots – George Strait. I currently play Casting Crowns having wept over “Praise Him in the Storm” on more than one occasion, as the last six months have been rather stormy. But if I were to list all my favorites, I’d be here typing all day :-)
Wow – with all these names to choose from you’ll have to put them your mop bucket. A hat can’t possibly hold them all.
March 30th, 2007 at 1:00 pm
My favorite Artist is Steven Curtis Chapman.
Good Luck Everyone!
March 30th, 2007 at 1:01 pm
Currently Regina Spektor, but also love the Cardigans. I’ve been drawn into commenting by my love of free stuff!
March 30th, 2007 at 1:11 pm
That’s easy… My daughter… When she was 3, a friend spontaneously recorded her singing along to some chords on the piano. It is a funny song woven with tidbits of a 3-yr-old’s day, but her sweet voice gets me everytime. This was added as a secret track on my friend’s worship album. She is now 9 and leads worship with a guitar. :)
Outside of family – U2
March 30th, 2007 at 1:16 pm
My favorite artist who sings my heartbeat is Chris Rice! He always tells a story in his songs….maybe it’s just that I’m “Clumsy.” Love your blog! Do you know I almost wrote “bog?” You make me laugh!

I mean, I love U2 and Sarah McLachlan and John Michael Talbot and PFR and on and on, but I really, really love Jars. Their Flood CD ministered to me during a very difficult time of my life and I have loved them every since!

It’s a tough call to say who my favorite recording artist is, so I’ll give a few since they are from such different genres:
Harry Connick, Jr.
Tim McGraw
Nicole Nordeman
The CD you have sounds like a great one! Seems like it would help in memorizing Scripture as well. Thanks for the recommendation!

March 30th, 2007 at 2:35 pm
That got the people out of the closet didn’t it? My favorite would be Indelible Grace which is one artist but a man w/ a group of coming up artists. He takes old hymns which, how should I say this, have difficult tunes and reworks the music into glorious songs.
March 30th, 2007 at 2:46 pm
you are going to have a lot of tiny pieces of paper to cut and put in a hat.
i’m going with sting. but i would love to branch out. i know nothing about music.

HA! 269 comments before mine! WOW do you have a lot of lurkers coming out of the closet!
Okay I am really stumped by the favorite recording artist … I’m going to sound like an idiot … but … and this is going to date me terribly, … as well as brand me an 80′s doofus …
but I have to say Adam Ant.
Oh, and Jars of Clay, I’m not embarrassed to say them.
Don’t tell Adam Ant that I’m embarrassed to admit about him, though. :-)

I’ve been hearing songs from this cd on KLOVE. I’ve even got the title written on a post it note on my fridge so I can buy it with my “allowance.” = ) My all-time favorite singer that I could listen to over and over and over and over is Steven Curtis Chapman.
