There’s some deep and abiding 80′s joy right here. It’s an 80′s trifecta: big hair, pastel clothes and a synthesizer. Such a treasure.

Trista is hosting an End of The Summer Blog Party, and you can find all the details here. The festivities start Monday and last all week.

A couple of months ago Keetha sent me a copy of her latest book, More Culinary Kudzu. When I finally sat down to read it, I was hooked. It has fabulous recipes, great stories, and did I mention the fabulous recipes? If you’re Southern or maybe a teensy bit fascinated by the South, you will love this book (and her first book, Culinary Kudzu, as well). You can find all the ordering info you need here – and you can read chapter samples, to boot. Delightful.

I’ll see y’all tomorrow.

Stay gold, internets. Stay gold.

Oh dear!
You know, I just threw away my Midnight Star CASSETTE! a couple of years ago. I had a box of treasures I could not part with when I got married. Why Midnight Star? I have no clue. But seeing this video sure took me back to 1985!

Boo Mama!!! Thanks so much for posting that link to Midnight Star. I have to say I posted the above comment BEFORE I even went to the link so it is funny that I said “no parking on the dance floor” because I didn’t realize that is what the link is to – the video for it. duh!!! Anyway, I am listening to it right and pretty much shaking the whole room with my dancin. I’m burnin it up baby. I know, I’m lame….is that lionel ritchie in the video?? it looks like it…

i am SO very relieved to see someone else post the name ‘lionel richie’. whew. at least it wasn’t just me thinking that he was going to be poppin’ out from somewhere in that video. classic!

although, i must say, i didn’t really see any large amount of neon-colored clothing in this video. a little disappointed, i am. i mean, i had a pair of neon yellow dress shoes, AND a pair of neon pink too! and you SO know that i was wearin’ them babies to sunday school!

Well, beep! beep! That was a fun little stroll down memory lane! LOL! In fact, I remember one time when my car broke down and all kinds of cool, trendy people got out, danced and sang with me (after they got over themselves for being mad at me in my broken-down car). And of course, there were a few versions of Lionel Richie! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! :D

OOOOK. I consider myself a font of knowledge for all things ’80s, having myself grown up in that most glorious, sleeves-pushed-up, Aqua-Netted-into-oblivion decade, and I DO NOT REMEMBER THIS SONG. This is exactly the sort of thing that would drive my team out of the World Series of Pop Culture in abject shame. Thank you, BooMama, for reminding me that learning doesn’t stop just because you’re out of school, even if it’s learning about no parking on the dance floor.

Oh, BooMama. You really know how to take me back to the golden 80′s. I LOVED that song in high school. All my friends had parachute pants and leg warmers and REALLY BIG HAIR. Such tender memories.
