Hello I Must Be Going

by BooMama on 7 September 2007

in Rambling

Last night I stayed up until almost one in the morning trying to get everything together for today’s trip to Nashville. I had laundry to wash, clothes to iron and portable electronic thingies to charge.

And speaking of portable electronic thingies, I have totally contemplated taking my laptop into the Deeper Still Conference. But I feel it might be somewhat distracting.

Not to mention rude.

And in a startling new personal development, I decided last night that I’m not even going to try to look cute this weekend. I am going to relax and soak up the teaching and try not to worry about whether or not my roots are distracting other people during the course of a normal conversation.

This is a bold step-out for me, y’all. I feel that the Lord is doing a new work in my heart. Somebody say “hallelujah” one time.

So as soon as I can throw a few more things in my suitcase and say goodbye to my boys, I’m gonna hop in the car with a big ole diet Coke in my hand, comfy clothes on my person and all my favorite CD’s on my iPod.

Also.

You might be interested to know that Big Mama and I tried to record another podcast yesterday afternoon, but when I was editing it last night I realized that NOTHING HAS EVER BEEN MORE BORING EVER OH MY WORD Y’ALL IT WAS SO BORING.

No kidding: when I was trying to listen to it, my mind wandered ALL THE WAY TO THAILAND.

And as you might imagine, I’m understandably exhausted.

But we’re going to try again today.

I’ll try to check in from Nashville, and if I can get the new, (hopefully) improved podcast uploaded, I will. I do hope your heart can handle the excitement.

Because I’m sure you’re all atwitter with anticipation.

And wait! I almost forgot!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SISTER!

Have a wonderful weekend, everybody.

Have a blast. And a big “Hallelujah” from me on living with roots. I’m far too self-conscious to be that gutsy.

Well, I’ve been to Thailand and it is quite an exhausting trip! I’m sure you are going to have so much to talk about after your trip today… I can’t wait to hear it! And another Hallelujah! about not caring what you look like. :)

Hallelujah from TEXAS……you’ve got the right priorities. We cannot look our best every moment of every day in this life; besides we need to be comfortable enough with what’s inside to let that shine rather than it be clouded by sassy shoes, perfect hair, or trendy fashion. PUH-LEEZE don’t interpret that to mean I don’t like those things (been thinking about my roots lately, too!)but being comfy in your own skin is a lot better place to be than not…and you’ll be so warm and glowing from all your learning that no one will even notice your hair or anything else except your beautiful heart and smile! Have boatloads of fun in N’ville!

If there’s ever a time in your life when you should be able to not worry about your clothes and your hair, it should be at a Deeper Still Conference. :)
Have a great time and a safe trip!

Whenever I feel my roots are getting problematic, I just be sure to eat a spinach salad. With plenty of green stuff in my teeth I can rest assured no one’s eyes will ever make it up to my hair. Hugs and have a great time. And be careful, too.

I have been praying that you’d find some peace w/your roots and know what to do. I’m so happy that you’ve come to a decision. And I agree, just soak in all the teachings, the spirit of the conference, the sisterhood w/all the other ladies there. the Lord will truly bless you, I just know it. And you KNOW I AM on pins and needles waiting for the next podcast, can’t wait! I put it on my ipod and listen (and laugh) while i’m going about all my chores and projects. My husband thinks I’m insane b/c i’ll just start laughing out of the blue…but what does he know?

I so wish I could be there this weekend! It sounds like so many siestas will be there! Seistas, Beth, and God…what more could a gal ask for?

By the way, do you listen to you iPod with headphones while driving or do you have the thingy that makes it go over your car speakers? I listen with the headphones, but don’t turn it up too loud. Is that bad?

Having just returned from a 3-month trip to Thailand, I would say your mind wandered to a good place… except that would defeat your point:o).

Hallelujiah honey! I feel better knowing I am not the only one who is sleep deprived the night before a trip just trying to get all of the last minute stuff done.
Stay safe, have fun and soak it all up!

My roots are now longer than the rest of my hair, so that should make you feel a lot better. Have a wonderful, relaxing time. And happy birthday, Sister. How is she? I haven’t heard from her in ages.

OH! MY! WORD!
I just got home form tonight’s Deeper Still session. That woman (Priscilla Shirer) can teach! Well, she was really preschin’,but I guess I’m supposed to call it teaching when a woman is doing it–being Baptist and all like that! She was preaching the Word!

I hope you were as blessed as I was by the entire experience!

I will not be there tomorrow. I just can’t be everywhere and my husband needs me here. DIL,a friend and her friend, and I did tonight together. Good times1

When I looked over that crowd of 20,000 women at Sommet Center, I thought, “Boomama is here somewhere. Wish I really knew what she looked like. Maybe I would see her.”

Then I got involved in the reason I was there and quit looking for women with dark roots. Oh–That would have been me, anyway.

Enjoy tomorrow!

oh darn, I just emailed Beth Moore and told her to look for the lady with the CVS root touch up. And now I will have to call her and tell her that your roots are natural and your wearing comfy clothes. I am certain she will spot you in the crowd and say a special hello. Question: how will you keep track of the MSU scoreboard if you don’t bring you computer to the conference?

Dang Bloglines just now (at 11:30 pm) notified me of this post! (Grr..mumble..snort…ffft!)

Happy, Happy Birthday, Sister! Hope it’s been a good one, and even though I’m a dyed in the wool Razorback fan, as a gesture of good will on your birthday, I hope MSU wins Saturday. ;-)

Hope you come back refreshed and renewed, Sophie. Safe journey, and be careful.

Love and hugs,

Diane

I hope you have a great time!

As for the boring podcast, did you go with the Kenny Chesney/Renee Zellweger discussion? That would eliminate any boring worries. I’m telling you the world wants to know!

Well, Hallelujah, BooMama! Clearly, the prayers of the Internets have been heard. Here’s a little scriptural send off with hopes that He will continue to do a work in your heart this weekend:

1 A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit.

2 The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him—
the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of power, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD -

3 and he will delight in the fear of the LORD. He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes, or decide by what he hears with his ears;

~Isaiah 11: 1-3

As much as I enjoy your blog, I enjoy the comments just as much! They usually are hilarious. The one suggestion to eat a spinach salad and then you will have so much green in your teeth no one will notice your hair made me spit my Diet Coke. That was a gem!
Have a great, great time and don’t worry about your roots. Trust me there will be roots aplenty and you will notice many worse than yours.
And comfy is a good thing when you are sitting all day.
Hugs,
Marie
p.s. I, too, am curious about how many capris you will see lol.

Happiest of Birthday wishes to Sister, our very own bloggie-celebrity-in-her-own-right. I don’t know of any other person who is so well-known in the blogosphere who doesn’t even have a blog. ;)

Have a wonderful trip… praying for a refreshing time, safe travels, drawing closer to Jesus, friends made, eye contact made with Beth Moore and not too many thoughts regarding those roots.

Scott September 8, 2007 at 4:43 pm

OH NO!!!!
You didn’t touch up the roots?!
Great. Now my wife Cindy will feel vain and all heathen-like for coloring AND styling her hair 24 hours before going to see BFFs Beth and Mandisa.

Well, at least she’ll be the best-looking, vain heathen at the conference. (No offense intended to the rest of you.)

You went to the Deeper Still conference? I just got back from Nashville and didn’t realize you were going! Wasn’t it GREAT being with 22,000 siestas?????

My friends and I stayed at the Union Station Hotel. . . and made a morning run to Starbucks every morning!
