So adorable! And wow … that is one heck of a driveway … I envy you!! Just curious if you get many trick or treaters willing to make that walk! :-)

  3. Andrea says:

How adorable! I still kind of feel that way when my parents come for a visit.
Eve did this sort of thing while waiting for her grandparents to arrive awhile back - she plopped herself on the chair by the window armed with her blankie and pillows, fully prepared to sit there for the 7 hours it was going to take them to arrive. I just love children and the way they don’t hold any feelings back.
    Hope the visit is wonderful!

  7. Ashleigh says:

Raising my hand high… your parents will just love this! Alex reminds me of Troy every night when I tell him it’s time for Daddy to come home–he goes and sits on the front step and swings his lil legs until he sees the car coming down the street.

That YARD… I’m trying not to be envious here.

Oh I just can’t wait to hear how you respond to all these driveway compliments! Hope you are having a lovely visit. I remember BEING Howard, waiting for my own grandparents at the end of the driveway. That excitement and anticipation and the subsequent happy, loving reunion with the grandfolks are one-of-a-kind feelings every kid needs to get to have tons of times.

Oh, how wonderful to have grandparents to love and be loved by! I was blessed with TWO sets growing up, and I’m gratefully passing the joy on to my kiddos–who just can’t WAIT to go up to Grandma and Grandpa’s house tomorrow.

And just DITTO to all the compliments on your driveway–it’s gorgeous. And I adore your front porch so much I’ve immediately adopted it for my dream house–without steps (I’ve a boy with spina bifida), but the brick and the flower beds and the little fence, oh my! What kind of flowers are those?

I’ll bet you all have a magical weekend. Enjoy!

Two things: the first thing I thought when I saw the top picture of Alex is that he’s looking like a big kid. What happened to the baby??? They grow up too fast.

And second, I am knee-deep in covetousness over your beautiful yard! Gorgeous!! :)

  37. Kathleen says:

This is really in reference to your Birthday post. Happy Bday! I used to think 40 was my absolute cut off age for having another baby (my 2nd was born at 38). I was VERY surprised when I became pregnant again & delivered at 44! (he couldn’t come another 9 days early BEFORE my Bday!) So theres still time that’s all I’m sayin’

    October 7th, 2007 at 9:11 am

  38. Megan(FriedOkra) says:

  40. Holly Smith says:

    Okay, this is random…

I wondered when we needed to read the Leif Enger book by? I just got it at the library…but had a few more to read as well.

Also I looked at your reading list…if you haven’t read Thr3e by Ted Dekker, read it before House. I think you will like it very much! Both are edgy and a bit strange, but Thr3e is the better of the two.

Have a wonderful and restful day!

    October 7th, 2007 at 2:24 pm

  41. Dana says:

  45. Amy says:

Great pictures. Thanks for sharing the raw excitement! I agree with MollyCoddled. My first thought of the driveway was “I’d hate to shovel that thing in the winter.” But I guess if that isn’t an issue, it would be great that your 50 closest friends could park in the driveway and not the street when you have a party!

    October 7th, 2007 at 10:38 pm

  46. Jan says:

My entire house, yard, AND driveway would fit in YOUR driveway! I’m not kidding! LOL

    October 7th, 2007 at 11:34 pm

  47. Lisa says:

Sigh… sitting on that porch on a just-cooling-off in the fall day with an icy drink… admiring the pumpkin topiaries and the view of the gorgeous yard and warning Howard not to tire himself on the mile-long driveway.

No. Not green. Not me. =)

    October 8th, 2007 at 2:12 am

  48. Shayna says:

hee hee I have to had to your comments now that I have read them! So, if THATS your driveway?? What does your HOUSE look like?? My boys get just as excited for their grandparents to come! And I love it! Its so sweet :)

    October 8th, 2007 at 8:18 am

  49. Amy T says:

I too was admiring your driveway, but wasn’t going to say anything until I read the next post and saw that everyone else thought it was cool too. Actually, I liked the whole package of the yard, driveway, woods, etc., but the driveway is center stage! :) Glad I’m not the only one that noticed. Don’t feel so weird now!

    October 8th, 2007 at 9:17 am

  50. Jane B says:

Seriously — that is so precious it isn’t even funny!!! Grandparents hold such a special place in their tiny little hearts, don’t they!? It’s sort of like Christmas each and every time they come over.

    How adorable!

    October 8th, 2007 at 9:00 pm

  54. Overwhelmed With Joy! says:

Very neat pics! I love your driveway too. It reminds me a bit of the driveway we drove down to get to the manor house where we were spending our wedding night in Ireland. :)

    October 9th, 2007 at 2:02 am

  55. Trina says:

    Awww…now thats just adorable! :0)

OK I LOVE that driveway too however, all I could think was HOLY COW! That would cost me a fortune in salt just so I could get outta there in the winter! LOL

  56. Kathy says:

The most tender, precious pictures ever. What lucky grandparents!

    October 9th, 2007 at 3:49 pm

  57. Cheryl...from the belly of the whale... says:

So now I know why the allergy thing is such an issue… and I too thought of your driveway in respect to the snow - which you don’t really have there - you may have to get a plowing contract if it were up here but it would make a heck of a toboggan run. I could see little Howard all bundled up from head to toe trudging up that driveway dragging a sled in hand…but, oh, the pictures coming back down!

    October 9th, 2007 at 5:37 pm

  58. Praisegrrl says:

    Whoa. Is that your driveway???
