On this week’s podcast, Caroline and Alex have a conversation with each other for the second time in their lives, though certainly it’s the first time that their conversation has been recorded, what with four year-olds typically not doing a lot of podcasting and all.
However, if you ask me, Miss Caroline definitely has a broadcasting career in her future. If she can just get over all that crippling shyness.
We also talk about how we met our husbands, the joys of childbirth, the greatness that is chunky jewelry, and our upcoming hey-we-finally-get-to-see-each-other-in-person weekend.
You know, the weekend when we’re going to make Shannon podcast with us. Because it’ll be fun.

Tracy says:
Hey Boo Mama~
i was just listening to your podcast and I too had a HUGE baby boy. Mine was 10lb 9oz and 22 inches long. But my idiot made me have him ‘the old fashioned way’. He’s lucky to be alive! Sad when they bring your newborn in a pediatric gown!

Tracy says:
OK, whoops. I hit send before proof reading. I meant to say my idiot DOCTOR, not my son, as it implied. The IDIOT DOCTOR made me have my son without a c-section. Ok,now I feel better. thanks!

Boomama, not that it is a contest or anything, but I have ya beat… my baby boy, born just this past May, was 11.2. I too had a c-section and when the OB pulled him out she yelled “You just delivered a toddler!” Just what every first mom wants to hear.
He is now 5 months and weighs 20lbs. My little chunky monkey. :)

I also gave birth to a 3 month old, but you beat me by 2 ounces, and a week (39). C-section for me as well…he was also breech. UGH! :) I believe I also had a “touch of the sugar diabetes” during the pregnancy.
I greatly enjoy the podcasts! :)

Donna says:
I have a friend that may have you beat - she gave birth AT HOME (intentially) to a 11 lb 3oz boy. She said he did get a little stuck.
Also don’t try to drink any sorta beverage when listening to the podcast or it may come back up your nose or you could start choking especially when someone talks about “sugar dibeatus”. Too Funny Ladies

Lisa says:
I had a toddler myself — 9lb even — and after pushing for 3 hours, I informed them that they could cut me open and remove the little darlin’ (which they did). He could hold up his head when he was born, so I didn’t learn to hold a baby’s head until I had my second child.
Incidentally, BooMama is apparently too modest to tell her readers that she is up for the Blogger’s Choice Awards for Best Humor Blog. Go vote, quick before time is up! (I read on another blog that there was one day of voting left, but I don’t see a deadline on their site.)

Shannon says:
Can I just say how much I love your podcasts! They make me laugh. I’m from the south (TN) but am now living in Japan and going to a Japanese language school with a bunch of Europeans. (I’m a missionary) I’ve noticed that I am quickly losing my Southern accent and am beginning to pick up a very bad English accent! Thanks for giving me some listening material to slow the loss of my beloved twang! Ya’ll are awesome!

Kel says:
You need a tag line that says “read by birth mothers of big ole babies.” Put me down as a member. C-section - 9 lb 7 oz. 23 1/2 inches long. My mom finally pointed out to me that he couldn’t straighten his legs because his sleepers were too short. Podcast was so fun!

Cathy says:
Cracking up over your comments about Pioneer Woman’s “how I met my husband” story…
“I could come up with that level of drama…but it would be fiction.”
Grin.
I said “but it would be fiction” in my head right before you said it!

Yeah…the diabetes thing….HILLARIOUS….and the kids at the end was too funny with Caroline pronouncing San Antonio! And….
“I gave you some oreos and a Barbie movie!” The thing was just a classic.

Oh my gosh!!! Your voice is beautiful and so is Alex’s!!! Love your accents. You sound JUST LIKE a friend of mine I knew years ago. (Kem Martin, this isn’t you, is it?) hee hee.
Anyway, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your accent and listening to you guys. This is the first podcast I’ve had an opportunity to listen to.

OK…here are a couple of questions for you for another podcast:
What is your favorite place you’ve been to? (local or otherwise)
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you choose to go?
Sophie…whatever happened to the NYC trip that was being planned? Thought it was going to be “in the fall” sometime?

Melissa May says:
What can I say??? It was so fun to hear you answer my questions and have you talk to me! : ) (Even if I couldn’t actually talk back…) I knew it would be fun to hear about your boys (great stories!) and that no woman can resist talking about her babies! Looking forward to next time!

Lora Lynn says:
When I was pregnant with the twins, we went out to a fancy dinner and I put on a pair of maternity pantyhose (two words that should never be paired). Halfway through the meal, I had to excuse myself so I could take my father-in-law’s pocket knife to the control top of my hose. So I could eat more. And not cry uncontrollably.
It was my first pregnancy. I didn’t know that it was okay to just embrace those saddlebags and let ‘em all hang out.
Anyhoo, I seriously doubt you are really searching for things to do when Big Mama comes, but I am going to make a suggestion for my own selfish interests: you should hold a “Big Boo Night Out.” Girls night out for all the local readers. We could pool our social anxieties. It would be a tender moment. :-)
Or you guys could just go shopping. And take pictures. So that you might be better able to properly define the chunky jewelry.

Ladies, it just gets better and better! I nearly quit breathing while laughing during this podcast. I CANNOT WAIT until the visit! I wish ya’ll would do an autograph session at the Panera at Lee Branch for all us interweb fans! Think about it. Love you!

The Pumkin Patch says:
First of all, I’m so jealous. Y’all get to meet and here I am 20 minutes from you, yet we’ve never met, LOL. Hope y’all enjoy your visit.
Now, I have a question. I was in a bad car accident in 2001. After 2 surgeries and a 3 in. screw in my left foot, I can’t wear heels. I can barely wear anything with height at all. So, what are some good fall/winter shoe choices for those of us who can’t really wear heels?

And I’m so with Mary Kat’s mom on the meeting at Panera.

Lindac says:
Copy of comment to Big Mama: I think that you and Boo Mama should consider publishing a pronunciation accompaniment to your podcasts for people north of Kentucky. Here are a few to get you started: “flot,” as in “My flot leaves at 7:30″ = “flight.” “Own,” as in “That’s all I have to say own that.” = “on.” “A-rah” = “awry”. And it was funny that as you finished discussing how you’re like one person, you said simultaneously, “It all worked out.” Fun stuff!
