It’s Probably No Surprise That Sister And I Went To The State / Ole Miss Game Today

November 23, 2007

And oh, it was glorious.

It was also cold. And windy. And very cold. And very windy.

But that is neither here nor there.

Because LOOKY HERE! WE WON!

photos from Rick Guy and Brian Albert Broom of The Clarion-Ledger

We had so much fun, and I’ll write all about it after I recover from all the not sleeping I’ve been doing.

I’m also worried sick about the cute little Tri Delt from Ole Miss I saw before the game who was wearing a mini dress, super-high suede heels and Gucci sunglasses. I mean, she looked absolutely adorable, but I’m fairly confident she’s probably being treated in Oktibbeha County General Hospital for pneumonia right about now, what with her FORGETTING TO WEAR ANYTHING EVEN REMOTELY WARM.

And style is really of very little use if it lands you in the hospital, my friends.

Feel free to have that last sentence engraved on a plaque, by the way.

And feel free to have this next bit of info engraved on a plaque as well:

Mississippi State - 17
Ole Miss - 14

Go ‘Dogs.

I’m actually really happy that State won, despite being an Ole Miss grad. This was probably the first year I was rooting for them over my own team. Coach Croom is such a good guy, and I really wanted one of our teams in a bowl game. Ole Miss has been an embarrassment to the entire state and the greatness that is the SEC this year, and I blame that utterly useless Coach O. for that. Ugh. It’s time for him to be fired!! Leave, man! Go!

Woo hoo!!! I would normally have been rooting for Ole Miss…I mean, I did get a Master’s degree there; it’s the least I can do, but since their football team is apparently made up of thieves with a coach who thinks they’re “just good kids” and ought to get to play football anyway…well, I ain’t rootin’ for THAT. ;) So yay State!!

You should have seen the Razorbacks beat LSU in overtime…whew…we were worn out just watching! I’m glad I’m not the only one who notices how little people wear to ballgames when it is SO cold in the name of fashion.

I hope you got a chance to see the Hawgs beat the snot out of LSU.

Actually, it wasn’t exactly snot-beating. But it was really, really beautiful. Especially if you hate LSU.

Congrats on the win! As for the Tri-Delt, maybe Stacy and Clinton will visit her in the hospital. Show her how to accessorize that lovely backless “wrap dress.” ;)

I want you to know that I watched the Miss State/Ole Miss game specifically because of this blog. I do not need another college football team to watch - between watching Clemson (my husband) and watching the Gators (me), I hate autumn as it is. But I knew you’d be a happy camper today! Go Dawgs!

is it any surprise that the cute little scantily but adorably dressed tri delt was NOT a chi-o? we’re a sisterhood of warm smarts, us owls. : )

The only person that I know who might be a bigger sports fan that you is…which really is an unfair comparison since he is a guy and most guys are born with a sports chip in their brain…my husband. It’s nice to know there are female “fans” out there.

  26. Samantha says:

Go State! Good to see the egg back in S’ville!

But inform Miss Shannon that there was no snot beaten from anyone at that other game to which she referred. :-) It was a good game to watch. I was sad not to be able to see the State / Ole Miss game, but did get to see LSU / Arkansas.

  27. jmom@lotsofscotts says:

I am so with you in your thoughts on the Tri-delt. I knew I was officially old when I started worrying about how the sorority girls were dressed at SEC games. Since when do people wear cocktail dresses to a game, for crying out loud? I am very glad that trend started after I left!

You go, BooMama! My Dawgs were triumphant as well. If only those old Kentucky Wildcats could have taken advantage of the THREE or more gimmes to beat Tennessee! Oh well…

  34. Toni says:

    BooMama,

I was at the game as well but unfortunately I was rooting for the losing team! It was a great game however (except for that losing thing). Congratulations! Off to look for a new coach….

    November 25th, 2007 at 11:24 pm

  35. Coach J says:

As I was bundled up on the coach, I wondered if you were out there! I got to catnap until the 4th qtr, when the dogs decided to show up, so it was a win-win situation for me. I’m so glad we pulled it off, and you gotta love Croom at the end. He was in tears!
I chuckle at all the girls that wear those dresses and high heels to the games. Maybe colleges should offer some type of common sense class…
