The Child, He Speaks The Truth

December 27, 2007

Our first round of Christmas company left today. Mama and Daddy hit the road around 10 this morning; Sister and her hubby turned out of the driveway a few minutes ago.

And when we shut the door behind Sister and B. - a tiny bit sad that the house is returning to normal traffic patterns (for a few hours, at least) - the little man ran back into the kitchen, plopped down in his seat at the table, picked up his peanut butter and jelly sandwich and said, “That was great, Mama - having everybody here.”

And you know? It really was.

Christmas ‘07 has been a good ‘un.

Hope yours has been, too.

Oh, it has! Praise God for His goodness to us. Yo, with your house full of company and us, with not even a speck of company. But it was right for this year. We have really enjoyed the us-ness!

I can just picture your family driving down that lovely driveway! May God’s blessings be ON each of you!
    Love in Him,
    Holly

This has been the best Christmas ever! Visits with family have been awesome, presents have been few and practical (yay - no clutter), and there has been little to no stress! WOOHOO! Glad you enjoyed it, too!

I have thought several times over that last couple of days how this has been a wonderful Christmas. We had a great day with my husbands family on the 23rd and then I cooked (and it wasn’t crazy!!) on Christmas Eve and my parents came over for the evening. My dad is in very poor health so to have him here and in a good mood was great. Then Christmas was spent at home with just us and it was so peaceful and just they way we wanted. The guys have left for the deer lease and now the girls get to shop, shop, shop and eat lots of Mexican food!! What more could anyone ask for??? :-)

We ran ourselves ragged from Friday morning to late Tuesday night. But yes, it was good.

It’s also good being free from some of the commitments and other stress associated with Christmas.

I’m glad you and the fam had a good visit!

I like your little man and his great wise words! And I’m just too jealous that you got to go to Big Girl Stores yesterday and buy fun things like shoes. I love the TJ and the Stein-make me happy-Marts. But alas with five kids and a list of returns only Claires, Limited Too, and the Target (pronounced Tar-jay)were on my list. Do you think TJ saved some shoes for me?

Boo Mama, I know what you mean!!! We just got home today (my son and I) and tomorrow my son leaves for a week for his dad’s house so it will just be me. :( I’m not ready for the quiet house. I love the hustle and bustle of the holidays.

That is sweet. It is always good when after all the company leaves you still have really good vibes about how everything went. Sounds like you had a nice holiday and your son really encapsulated it all.

Glad you had a good time with family - enjoy it as not everyone has good family times. Of course this means you got some serious blog fodder. I’m sure Sister will keep the record straight. :)

Lovely Christmas Tour as usual Boomama but a WARNING to all, I went on and clicked and my computer screen went made, wondows opening all over the place and the compouter froze it took HOURS to sort out. There appears to be a VIRUS on one or more of the links so even if you have a good virus scan it will still get through because you have clicked on it to open it when you click to see the christmas tour.

So watch out. I like this site and have no desire to upset anyone but feel people need to know !

  25. Carol @ I Throw Like A Girl says:

It was just us this Christmas and after a whole houseful of guests for Thanksgiving, it was too quiet for me. My hubby and kids were adamant about staying home though, in spite of invites from 2 different relatives. I think by Christmas night, when all was quiet, they were wishing they had listened to the Mom and we had gone somewhere with lots of action. But, I cannot complain. As long as we are all home together, I really am happy. Blessed New Year to All!

The sweet words from children. Much better than the conversation that went on between 2 children in my house last night.
Child 1: Where are my webkinz?
Child 2: I don’t know, probably in your butt.

We tried not to laugh. He just turned 5 and we have NO IDEA where that came from! WHERE do they get this sometimes???

  27. Christie McGee says:

Good un? I think so. We have a week full of Christmases because of split families, etc. so we just finished last night! But it is good to see everyone. We are blessed.

Even made a few “resolutions” to be better at keeping up with each other throughout the year!

    Peace & Blessings!

Aww, that’s so sweet that your little guy appreciates company and visits from friends and fam like that at his tender age. Of course it helps to have everything return to normal after a time, too. Sounds like everything was juuuuust right for you all for Christmas.

Loved the “My Word” comment, too. And I had to chuckle at missing your ministry op there in the shoe department, lol!

What a sweetie! I love how easygoing kiddos are! Afer 5 days of playing with seven of his cousins my son said, It’s fun playing at Grandma’s but I’ll be happy to go home too. I expected to have to drag him kicking and screaming to the car. Who knew preschoolers had stimulation limits?
