Internets, I Would Like To Introduce You To Some Fabulous People I’ve Never Actually, You Know, Met

by BooMama on 14 January 2008

in Africa,Bloggity Fun,Compassion

With the exception of Shannon, I’ve never met any of the other bloggers who are going on the Compassion trip to Uganda. And as you might imagine, I can’t wait to hug them and confound them with my SUTHERN ACK-SAYNT and serenade them with my off-key singing.

The worship leaders in the bunch are gonna be so sad that their paths ever crossed mine. I will be a walking request line. And not annoying AT ALL.

Anyway, I thought y’all might like to meet them, too. And if you already know them, just pretend like you’re meeting them for the first time, because ISN’T THIS FUN?

I’ll link to a few today and a few tomorrow because I don’t want you to get overwhelmed and feel like you have Linky Homework.

But to start – and in no particular order other than the random pattern of my admittedly disturbed mind – there’s Anne. And Shaun. And Carlos. And Carlos’ wife Heather. And our fearless leaders, Brian and Spence.

If you have some time, click over and say hi.

Or hey.

Or hiya.

It’s completely up to you.

Or, how about “wassup”? I can’t wait to get to know them. First I must feed, read to, snuggle, watch Power Rangers with my kid. Then put him in bed. Then I’ll go meet and greet.

On Anne’s site there’s a list of everyone who’s going. Some chick named Sophie “Boomama”…made me chuckle!

Y’all have the best time! Just the best time! The very best!

I can’t wait to hear about your time there and what the Lord does through you and to you!

Also, this post made me think of this test and you should take it and let us know the results!

I’m a devoted reader of Anne, Shaun, AND especially Carlos (as a worship leader)…

Los posted the roster earlier and I saw “boomama” on there and cheered for ya!

can’t WAIT to see what you’ve got for us after this….

Spence Smith… I kinda think I went to college with him. Did he go to Harding? And Phil Ware?! In “cornbread English,” HE’S MY PREACHER!!!! Y’all have a blast lovin’ the Lord by lovin’ others. I think I may just feel like I’ve been there when you all report back.

I did the linky’s and you get to go to Uganda with SHAUN GROVES. COOL. I am not a person who gets into the celebrity thing but my husb. & I saw him on the christmas Gloria tour in DM a couple years ago and we enjoyed his music AND especially his sense of humour. Plus all the other obviously fun and loving people you get to go with. If you were all stopping over in Zuerich (which some of the ‘tours’ to Uganda do) I’d meet you at the airport with Swiss chocolate to keep you for the rest of the journey – I think Anne’s post mentioned she liked the Dark. But all the Belgians at school insist their chocolate is best so, hopefully you all can try it out. Prayers are with you and I think I will have to go write our little CI girl in Mexico right now. Best of Wishes on this particular Journey.

Shaun Groves? As in … “hey y’all, I’m going to the far end of the world with some regular ol’ people like … blah, blah, Shaun, blah, blah…” or more like… “HEY Y’ALL, I’M GOING TO THE FAR END OF THE WORLD WITH — GAAAAAAAAAAAAA — SHAUN GROVES!!!!!!!!!”

Just wondering, because you’re playing it kinda cool, ya know…

I can’t wait to hear about your trip! And just curious, why did you say “hiya?” That’s a pretty British phrase! Just curious. I say hiya a lot now!

Shaun Groves–awesome! I have one of his CDs (maybe his first?), and I love it. Very cool. You should check it out so that you can sing along off-key to his own songs.
