In Which I’m Giving Away Mr. Darcy

by BooMama on 5 May 2008

in Rambling

Today I had a delightful lunch with my hubby and my little man, and when I got home I noticed a FedEx box propped against the front door.

And do you know what was inside that FedEx box? The one and only Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy.

Well, I mean, it’s Mr. Darcy in DVD form. But still. It was a very special moment. And I think we should have ourselves a little giveaway to celebrate.

(However, I should probably warn you that my cousin Paige is visiting right now, and given the fact that she has never met a British romance that she didn’t absolutely love, I’m probably going to have to hide the DVDs for the next 24 hours.)

(In fact, she turned on the TV last night with the sole purpose of catching the last few minutes of “Masterpiece Theatre.” Neveryoumind that I couldn’t even tell her what channel PBS is on because as you know I AM VERY CULTURED AND REFINED.)

So.

If you’d like to win The Romance Collection Special Edition, which is bascially over 30 hours of “star-studded, classic literary adaptations on 14 DVDs” (you can see all the details right here), all you have to do is leave a comment and tell me so. I’ll leave the giveaway open until tomorrow night at 6 o’clock central time, at which point I’ll select a winner using random.org.

And just for kicks, tell me your favorite romantic movie when you leave your comment.

Oh, it’ll be jolly good fun.

(Sorry.)

(I couldn’t help it.)

(Sorry.)

This giveaway is now closed.

How do you ladies keep getting these to give away?? I didn’t win Shannon’s… ooooh, please please please random.org pick me! ;-)

I love Jane Austen so much… I want to name a boy Darcy. My husband.. not so much, but we have only had 2 boys so far.. so there’s potential for a “Darcy” in our clan yet!

My favorite romantic movie always happens to change right after I watch one.. sooo… since I re-watched Chocolat last night, I’m going to go with that ;-)

Have you seen Becoming Jane????!!! You can totally see who in her life represents what characters in her novels!

CcsMommy May 5, 2008 at 8:06 pm

Oh!please Mr. Randomness, pick me!! Jane Eyre is one of my favorites. One of my other (more modern) favorites is When Harry Met Sally.

Meg @ Spicy Magnolia May 5, 2008 at 8:08 pm

I just watched “Becoming Jane” last night and so I’m definitely in the mood for some English romance!

My favorite (so hard to narrow it down it is): Casablanca!

Sheila May 5, 2008 at 8:09 pm

I watched Pride & Prejudice for the first time with my mother-in-law and sis-in-law this last New Years Eve and just loved it!! Would love to have this set to share with them.

“Return To Me” is one of my other favorite romantic movies. Thanks for this awesome giveaway!!

Tara May 5, 2008 at 8:15 pm

Oh Oh Oh!!!! I love Pride and Prejudice! I carry a copy of the book in my purse ALL THE TIME! I can open it anywhere and enjoy whatever chapter it falls to. My favorite movie of all time is, of course, the A&E version of P&P!
Pick me!!!

Michelle May 5, 2008 at 8:16 pm

I love Sense and Sensibility, but my watch over and over and over movie is “While you were sleeping”.

We are THAT family May 5, 2008 at 8:17 pm

My favorite romantic movie is the Julia Roberts bunch: Knotting Hill, Runaway Bride, etc.

But I do love Mr. Darcy. A lot.

He makes me *swoon* as much as a nice Christian girl is allowed.

Andrea May 5, 2008 at 8:18 pm

I would beg you mercilessly to pcik me, but that didn’t work on Shannon, so I’ll just pretend that I DON’T want it, even though it’s a shameless lie. Because who wouldn’t want to stare at Colin Firth for two whole hours? (okay, maybe my husband, but whatever. He can play computer games!)

And I loved Emma.

Stretch Mark Mama May 5, 2008 at 8:19 pm

Well, besides all the Jane Austen flicks, I’m a big fan of You’ve Got Mail. That Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks – too cute. Perfect screenwriting on that one.

Meredith May 5, 2008 at 8:19 pm

Marla Taviano May 5, 2008 at 8:42 pm

Okay, I’ve never read a Jane Austen book or seen one of the movie adapts. However, I HAVE seen two movies ABOUT her and her books lately. Does that count? (and I know how to find PBS on my TV)

Not a big movie-watcher, but I do love You’ve Got Mail. And Enchanted.

And my mama and papa LOVE this kind of stuff, so I would please like to win it for them. A Mother’s Day/Father’s Day gift combo if you will.

But why am I telling you all this, Boo Dear? You’re just going to press the magic random integer button thingy, aren’t you?

Poo.

Roman Holiday w/ Audrey Hepburn & Gregory Peck and You’ve Got Mail w/ Meg Ryan & Tom Hanks.
Both make me laugh.
Both make me cry.
And, until I met him, both made me long for the man of my dreams … now they both just make me ponder on how sweet it is to have found him.

Karen May 5, 2008 at 8:54 pm
