The Last Giveaway Of The Summer*

by BooMama on 10 June 2008

in Bloggity Fun

I was all prepared to be done with the giveaways. Really. I was.

I decided to take a break from them for awhile because, well, they’re time-consuming, and I figured that unless I ran across some Deeply Memorable Music, there was nothing I could give away that wouldn’t keep until fall.

But then I found out about Ethel gloves.

And I just had to – HAD TO – share them.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Say it with me, internets: SASSSSSS-SY.

And who says you can’t be sassy when you’re working in your yard?

They’re also super-durable. According to some information that the Ethel people sent me, the gloves are made to fit the contours of women’s hands, they’re made from four-way stretch Spandex and breathable, synthetic leather materials for flexibility and lightweight comfort, they’re designed to protect with an elasticized extended cuff and reinforced fingertips, and they’re machine washable.

Plus, lest you forget: SASSSSSS-SY.

Seriously. These gloves are so cute that I’m wondering if I can’t wear them all the time.

Like, you know, to the Walmarts or the Publix.

I’ll be just like Doris Day in “Pillow Talk.” Only instead of pairing my gloves with a belted dress, a saucy hat, and a mink stole, I’ll be wearing them with some cropped yoga pants, a t-shirt and flip-flops.

It’s a look that could TOTALLY catch on, don’t you think?

Why, I believe I’ve solidified a new fashion goal.

Anyway, the people at Ethel gloves have very graciously offered to give away five pairs of their gloves to five lucky winners, and here’s what you have to do to be eligible to win.

1. Click here to visit the Ethel gloves site.

2. Check out their five different styles. You’ll find the styles listed across the bottom of the main page – just click on the style’s name (“gala,” “expression,” etc.) to see a picture.

3. Come back here and tell me which style you like best.

4. The end.

And if you see all the sassy on the Ethel site and think YOU HAVE TO HAVE THEM RIGHT THIS SECOND, you can enter in the discount code “Boomama” and get 10% off your order for the next thirty days.

Also, I could write an entirely separate post about how much I adore the name “Ethel,” but instead of doing that I think I’ll just call dibs and say that NO ONE ELSE ON THE INTERNET CAN NAME A DAUGHTER “ETHEL” EXCEPT ME.

I FEEL THAT’S TOTALLY FAIR.

See? I am very reasonable.

And good luck with the giveaway, y’all!

*until I change my mind and do another giveaway, thank you.

This giveaway is now closed.

Liking Expression! Very cute!

Sky June 10, 2008 at 3:36 pm

I love the Jubilee design. My nails always suffer, because I’ll be darned if I’m going to wear ugly gloves. :)

Robyn June 10, 2008 at 3:36 pm

OOO. I love Jubilee. And Gala. And Rendezvous. Except it would get really dirty. Unless I just wore them instead of working in the garden with them. Because let’s be honest, I can totally kill a fake plant.
Also, I used to teach school and taught a little girl named Edna. TOTALLY fit her. She was my absolute favorite kid. And her mom’s name is Ethel.
:)

Kim Andress June 10, 2008 at 3:37 pm

Smockity Frocks June 10, 2008 at 3:49 pm

I like “Jubilee”. Mainly because my grandmother says, “JUBILEE!” when something’s exciting. Then there’s the fact that they are adorable.

margaret June 10, 2008 at 3:50 pm

Rendezvous would be my choice.

KountryMama June 10, 2008 at 3:52 pm

Jubilee is my favorite, and since my grandmother’s name is Ethel, I think I may be lucky and win this time. I hope so!

Smoochiefrog June 10, 2008 at 3:54 pm

I like the Rendezvous ones.

Tracye June 10, 2008 at 3:55 pm

I’m thinking rendezvous… so hard to decide, though.

fiddle*sticks June 10, 2008 at 3:56 pm

Megan June 10, 2008 at 3:57 pm

jubilee for sure! oh how i would love to be so stylish while working in my yard!!

Tracey/Real Estate Girl June 10, 2008 at 4:01 pm

I love the jubilee…UNLESS wearing the Rendezvous would make me look as cute and perky as that blonde on the homepage, then I’ll take the rendezvous!!! ha ha!

I love me a give-a-way! And you would really name your child “Ethel”? Alex and Ethel…sounds like a sitcom! Hmmm, come to think of it, that might be fitting!

Love ya!

edj June 10, 2008 at 4:08 pm

Gala! Cuz they are really SASSSS-Y and that is my goal in life.

Stefani June 10, 2008 at 4:10 pm

I love the Expression gloves! This is perfect timing! My current gloves are just about ready to retire! I would love to win these!

Jodie @ The Sky Is Only Dark Between the Stars June 10, 2008 at 4:12 pm

Those are cute! I like the Expression print best. Houndstooth always calls my name.

And the name Ethel? She’s all yours. :)

Gina June 10, 2008 at 4:17 pm

Expression–so cute. Thanks!

Whitney Jenkins June 10, 2008 at 4:19 pm

Jubilee is like a party for your hands. I just love hand parties!

Laura June 10, 2008 at 4:20 pm

I like the Jubilee style! The fleur de lis reminds me of NOLA!

Heidi June 10, 2008 at 4:20 pm

Juliblee rocks my socks. Thanks for the chance to play in dirt in style!

Rebekah June 10, 2008 at 4:21 pm

How brilliant are those gloves! I want a pair of each please! Or just a pair of the signature gloves (I’m a sucker for a good orange/brown combo!) and then I’ll actually use them and convince the hubs I simply *must* have them in other colors too!

Catherine June 10, 2008 at 4:21 pm

JUBILEE! I have to have them. Please, please choose me!

Dyan June 10, 2008 at 4:27 pm

Jubilee is my favorite, too. They are all great, though.

Sydney June 10, 2008 at 4:30 pm

I liked the Rendezvous style best. They are so pretty. Do you think these gloves would make weeding more fun?! They certainly couldn’t hurt!!

mombo June 10, 2008 at 4:33 pm

I’m all about expression on my ever-so-dainty-but-sassy size small hands!

Jennifer June 10, 2008 at 4:36 pm

TOTALLY dig Rendezvous…..French and sassy looking – love, love. They will certainly make me want to pull weeds daily, well maybe weekly, or at the very least monthly…. :) Thanks Boomama!

We are THAT family June 10, 2008 at 4:38 pm

Those are soooo sassy. I haven’t worn gloves that sassy since I was 8 and it was Easter Sunday.

And just for the record, in my heart and mind, your daughter-to-be was already named Ethel.

We are like minds, sistah.

Leslie Ruth June 10, 2008 at 4:39 pm

Ok, so this giveaway is making me a little weepy. One of the best gardeners I have ever known is my Grandmother…Ethel. She could work wonders with plants, the greenest thumb you ever saw. The massive rose garden that she and Grandaddy planted 15 years ago in front of Greystone Baptist Church (Durham, NC) is there to this day. We lost her to cancer five years ago, but I love, love, LOVE that there are gardening gloves with her name. Even if I don’t win, I think I know what to get my mom and her sisters as a summer treat…

Amy G. June 10, 2008 at 4:41 pm

love the gala ones! thanks boomama!!

April C June 10, 2008 at 4:42 pm

Jubilee!

Indiana Keetha June 10, 2008 at 4:43 pm

I love Rendezvous.

karissa June 10, 2008 at 4:50 pm

I like the expression gloves, These would make me feel stylish while i am covered in dirt!

Lora Lynn June 10, 2008 at 4:51 pm

Definitely the rendezvous. I have a weakness for green.

Have to tell you, I was in the bookstore today looking for baby names and I found a book that listed “names that are likely never to make a comeback.” I believe Ethel was at the top of that list.

And it appears you may just help “Ethel” to beat the odds.

Jackie @ Our Moments Our Memories June 10, 2008 at 4:52 pm

I love the signature gloves! I need these to help me feel sassy while pulling weeds in the blazing desert sun.

Sandra June 10, 2008 at 4:57 pm

I love jubilee! They are so classy!

Laura June 10, 2008 at 4:59 pm

I like the jubilee. Very stylish gloves, and I live on an old farm….I hope I win.

Tammy June 10, 2008 at 4:59 pm

Well, seeing as I reside in the city that is the home of the Crimson Tide, I would have to go with the Expression pattern. I like to express myself with the Hounds Tooth pattern, especially during the fall.

Stephanie June 10, 2008 at 5:08 pm

The Jubilee is darling – I am a blue person and they would look just dandy on my hands as I watch the family do yard work LOL

Rhonda June 10, 2008 at 5:09 pm

I’d like to rendevous with the rendevous, thank you very much!
