Yesterday I received an email from a reader named Mary.
Here’s what it said:
You obviously love music and I do too, I just haven’t really listened to Christian music since Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith and Carman were practically my only choices. I’m a huge fan of country music and that’s pretty much all I own. I would really love to find some good Christian music to listen to though, I’ve been very convicted lately about what enters my heart through my ears and eyes, and I’m hoping you can help.
Here is the question:
If you had to choose 10 cd’s to take on a cross country road trip (no more than 10!) what would you choose?
Thanks so much!
Oh, Mary – you’re exactly right. I’m slightly obsessed with the music. And about five years ago I really got convicted that I needed to pay more attention to what I was listening to. I still listen to a wide variety of stuff – I like all sorts of music and find it difficult to listen to any one genre exclusively – but I have to say that listening to Christian music on a regular basis has had a huge – HUGE – impact on my thought life.
Also: thanks for the reminder about Carman. Took me right back to youth group circa 1987. Good times.
Anyway, here are the first ten CDs that I thought of when I read your email:
Pagesby Shane & Shane
Alive Foreverby Travis Cottrell
The Best of Passion (So Far)by Various Artists
God Speakingby Ronnie Freeman
Glory Revealedby Various Artists
A Grateful Peopleby Watermark
The Twenty-First Timeby Monk & Neagle
Tell Me What You Knowby Sara Groves
Recollection: The Best of Nichole Nordemanby Nichole Nordeman
So Far: The Acoustic Sessionsby Bethany Dillon
So those are my ten. Until I think of the next ten. And since I’m a huge believer that we shouldn’t let the old hymns fall by the wayside, I’d also suggest having a couple of CDs that feature hymns. Here are two of my favorites:
Greatest Hymnsby Selah
Hymned No. 1by Bart Millard
Not to mention that there is one more CD we should all own because IT IS A CLASSIC, PEOPLE and never goes out of style:
Amy Grant: The Collectionby Amy Grant
Which brings us to thirteen CDs. There you have it. I did the best I could, Mary.
Finally.
I will also tell you that I’ve been listening to the latest Third Day CD for the last few days, and it is EXCELLENT. It’s called Revelation, and I actually have ten (TEN!) of them to share with you, the internets.
So if you’d like to win one of the new Third Day CDs, leave a comment that tells me your favorite road-trip CD. Doesn’t have to be Christian music – any kind of music will do.
Happy 4th, y’all!
This giveaway is now closed.

Anything by Travis!
July 3rd, 2008 at 3:42 pm
Kenny Chesney…LOVE IT! Any of them…any of them…
July 3rd, 2008 at 3:45 pm
For some odd reason BlackHawk music says ROAD TRIP to me.
July 3rd, 2008 at 3:46 pm
Phillips, Craig and Dean: Top of My Lungs and James Taylor’s Greatest Hits
July 3rd, 2008 at 3:48 pm
any of the “seeds” CDs…my kids love them and since they are all Scripture, help me to keep my mind focused on things other than the fact that i am on the road with 2 children who love to annoy one another.
July 3rd, 2008 at 3:50 pm
I only listen to Christian music on my Sirus radio. However, if I had to choose a favorite CD, it would be probably anything by Mercy Me.
July 3rd, 2008 at 3:51 pm
I cannot get enough of David Crowder band!!! (Although Best of Passion (so Far) is a close 2nd)
July 3rd, 2008 at 3:52 pm
Oh – just one favorite? I’m not sure I can do that! And if I listed them all, well I might just break your blog with more content than your comments can handle!
On our most recent road trip, we were kicking it with Phil Wickham, David Crowder Band, and Passions God Of This City.
Can’t wait for the latest Third Day cd!
July 3rd, 2008 at 3:54 pm
Rich Mullins, especially the Jesus Record/demo. And anything by Nichole Nordeman. She has such great lyrics, and such a beautiful voice, and she’s so stinking pretty…I want to BE Nichole Nordeman, not just listen to her. :)
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:02 pm
Okay, this is probably not what you were expecting, but my favorite road trip CD is “Stadium Jams” – you know, We Will Rock You, Who Let the Dogs Out, Pump Up the Jam, Oh Yeah – the classics! Actually, when my niece was 15 months old, 4 of us took her on a 16-hour road trip and Who Let the Dogs Out was the only thing that kept her happy and us sane the whole time (think Friends/Baby Got Back)!
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:02 pm
Oh thank you, thank you, thank you! Now I have somewhere to start with my shopping. And you are so welcome on the Carman reminder. Could you really forget….”Who’s in the house? J C!”
Thanks too for listing the hymn cd’s. I recently purchased a hymn cd because they never sing the old hymns at our church and I want my son to hear them. The problem is that it’s a very old fashioned choir type cd. For a girl that grew up in an Assembly of God church with one rockin’ pianist, this just isn’t working for me.
Since I’m still on my country kick, I’m going with Pat Green for road music. His style is defniately windows down, arm hanging out the window kinda music.
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:02 pm
I’ve mentioned them before and if Mary happens to read this she would LOVE 33Miles They are just amazing and pretty much sound like Rascal Flatts, but totally amazing Christian lyrics. Loved your choices of music, too! Also, I didn’t comment on your previous posts b/c I was late reading them, but I will say that I laughed and cried while reading them OUTLOUD to my dh as we are on a roadtrip right now! Just love you, Sophie :)
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:04 pm
Sierra is a favorite road trip group for me. Unfortunately they haven’t had anything new in a while. (though you can still get their older stuff)
Thanks for the giveaway.
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:04 pm
There is always 2 or 3 passion cds playing in our car…
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:04 pm
Journey, baby, Journey.
Circus life, under the big top world.
We all need the clowns to make us smile…
Through space and time-
Ahem.
Sorry. Got a little carried away there.
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:05 pm
Deep Forest is always on our road trip pile!
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:06 pm
Yay! Third Day!!
My road trip favs would be (in no particular order):
Shawn McDonald: Scattered Pieces
Shane and Shane: Carry Away
DC Talk: Supernatural (classic, in my book)
Nichole Nordeman: Woven and Spun
I could go on.. but anyway!
I just got the Pages by Shane and Shane but haven’t had a chance to really listen to it yet. Can’t wait though! I love them!
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:07 pm
My favorite–any cd by Third Day and Casting Crowns. Gotta love them! :)
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:07 pm
Steven Curtis Chapman Speechless is a classic. It stays in the CD holder in my car and gets pulled out regularly along with Alive Forever by Travis =)
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:08 pm
Sara Groves – any of her CD’s especially Add to the Beauty and All Right Here. Also love Mark Schultz – Stories and Songs or Broken and Beautiful
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:08 pm
Just ONE! Anything by Michael Card…it’s all good. My other picks would be Speechless by Stephen Curtis Chapman, Short Term Memories by Chris Rice, For the Record by Bruce Carroll, and Out of Breath by Go Fish. Thanks for making my laugh and making me think. Your blog is something I look forward to reading whenever I get a chance to sit down.
Blessings,
Terri in AZ
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:11 pm
My new favorite cd is Coldplay’s latest, Viva la Vida. So that would be my pick for the next road trip!
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:11 pm
Right now we have a lot of kiddie music playing in our car on any road trip.
Mary – if you love country, try Aaron Watson. He’s a Texas artist, strong Christian, and a great guy with a terrific family. He has a gospel album called Barbed Wire Halo.
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:12 pm
Casting Crowns! Oh the Lyrics those boys can write!
They are my favorite right next to Third Day!
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:13 pm
We like to take James Taylor with us on road trips.
Smiles!
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:15 pm
Along with Alive Forever I really like Living Proof Live 3 (so much so that I was praying there would be a Living Proof Live 4 at Deeper Still). It has Shackles on it – enough said!
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:15 pm
This list looks great!
We love Rich Mullins, Phil Keaggy, and Fernando Ortega.
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:15 pm
We love to listen to Seal on roadtrips…great to sing along with.
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:16 pm
“Radio Skies” by Kelleigh Bannen! Check it out; she’s incredible.
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:17 pm
Garth Brooks’ Double Live is hard to beat on a long drive.
Have a safe and happy 4th!
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:18 pm
Ok, my favorites are an Eagles Live CD as my secular choice and Steven Curtis Chapman’s Speechless. But in reality on a road trip, I’d probably have to listen to VBS music and Disney GirlsRock. :)
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:19 pm
I love some good ole’ praise music. I think David Crowder would be my first choice.
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:20 pm
My favorite road trip CD is a Christian mix that my best friends husband made for her about 6 years ago before they were even dating and she copied it for me (ya follow?) Anyway, it has everything from I Can Only Imagine to classic hymns to the christian version of Lean on Me that was done in the 80′s by that band…oh what were they called?…anyway, yeah that’s my favorite. And I LOVE LOVE LOVE Third Day so please include me in your giveaway. Thank you and b-bye :)
–That is if we aren’t listening to Doodlebops or nursery rhymes or Awesome Bible Kids…
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:24 pm
Right now, any road trip we take nowadays involves a little “Psalty” 24/7. Thankfully, that blue singing songbook is quite bearable (and I actually love it). Otherwise, you’ll catch me listening to early Caedmon’s Call, Third Day or Jars. What can I say? I’m totally stuck in the 90′s.
I’d LOVE to win that new CD!
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:24 pm
I really like Christian music and Third Day is one of my favorites!! For a road trip though my family and I really like anything by John Cougar, not much can beat a really loud rendition of Rockin’ in the USA!
-Laura
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:26 pm
My new favorite is “Go” from the Newsboys. Love it love it!
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:27 pm
hmmmm. travelling home for the weekends when i was in college, i always picked my most sing-along-able CDs. singing helped me stay awake :). anything by weezer, blessid union of souls, waterdeep, and definitely third day were often in the rotation then.
now, i am an XM listener–flight 26 and the message are my top 2 channels.
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:29 pm
Road Trip essentials for The Gang: anything Keith Urban, Rascal Flatts, Little Big Town, Amy Grant’s hymns collections, or Jars of Clay’s Redemption Songs. Love me some James Taylor but the kids protest after one round!
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:29 pm
I love anything by the Passion Worship Band! Hope you have a great 4th as well!
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:29 pm
Allison Krauss. And Jars of Clay. How come nobody talks about Jars of Clay? Their hymns album is The Best Ever.
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:31 pm
I love love LOVE Christian music.
That being said, on a road trip with my favorite gals, Journey’s Greatest Hits is my JAM!!
Also, because I can never pick just one, Avalon’s Testify to Love (Greatest Hits) is fun if you like to belt it, and you’re in a car where no one likes to sing the same part, Praise Him!
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:34 pm
Third Day (ANY! Love them all!)
Bon Jovi
High School Musical 1 & 2 (yes, I’m an adult!)
Hootie and the Blowfish
Any old MWSmith
Van Halen
Daughtry
Boston
Petra
Altar Boys *think the 80s*
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:35 pm
We love all of the Seeds Family Worship music (though it’s on the Ipod, not CD’s!) But I do tend to jam out to some Third Day when it’s just momma in the car by herself….
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:35 pm
The Fray reminds me of driving between Austin and Houston with my hubby!
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:39 pm
Really, right now I love me some Monk and Neagle. They just mix it up so the whole CD lifts you up without every song sounding the same. Terrific!
Not that I wouldn’t switch their CD and give Third Day some time too…
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:40 pm
I prefer a good mix tape, but if I had to pick one complete cd, Janis Joplin’s Greatest Hits would work.
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:40 pm
This so doesn’t fall into the Christian genre, but no road trip is complete without Jimmy Buffett’s “Songs You Know By Heart”. It’s makes me dance in my seat!
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:43 pm
anything on channel 20 (pop), 21 (more pop), or 32 (christian) on xm radio will make any road trip fly by!
thanks :)
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:43 pm
Todd Agnew – Grace like Rain
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:44 pm
Crack me up. I’m on the flip side. After years of Christian music, and Christian music only, I switched to country. “Gone country…look at them boots…She’s gone country…back to her roots…”
Well anyway. When I DO listen to Christian music, Sara Groves is DA BOMB.
Look, I said that like I was cool or somethin’.
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:44 pm
Third Day is actually my favorite Christian group of all time. My whole family loves their “Offerings II” cd. We know almost all the songs by heart and since I always drive, my husband and daughters play air guitar and drums during a couple of the songs!
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:44 pm
christian music–jars of clay (the one with “flood” and “love song for a savior”).
anything casting crowns!!
other music–the outfield (“stay the night but keep it under cover…”, the indigo girls (“closer to fine…”), and old drivin n cryin get me singing out loud on a trip!
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:49 pm
gotta be the old, old, old Amy Grant
or the new, new, new Kenny Chesney
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:50 pm
My favorite road trip cd is the WOW the 90s collection. So nostalgic!
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:52 pm
I love Amy Grant. I could sing to her songs all day. :) Also love 3rd Day.
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:54 pm
Oh yes, that Amy Grant Collection CD will make your heart soar, won’t it. SOAR LIKE THE WIND. My favorite gift to give friends who are down and in need of a little soul revival. :)
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:54 pm
I can’t leave the house without a David Crowder CD. Also lately I’ve gone back to the first Enter the Worship Circle CD. it’s great! and of course, I’m a fan of 3rd Day!
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:56 pm
It depends on the trip; since we’re going to the beach this weekend it’s probably Jimmy Buffet.
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:59 pm
David Crowder Band & Alabama!
July 3rd, 2008 at 4:59 pm
Home by Collective Soul
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:00 pm
Totally David Crowder Band. And/or Tim McGraw.
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:03 pm
I always make a mix CD to travel with upbeat music. I thelps to keep me awake!
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:05 pm
Chris Rice, Living Room Sessions, Christian music, just piano. That CD convinced me to buy the book and take piano lessons again. A wonderful CD.
Gina
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:06 pm
I love, love, love the needtobreathe CD, The Heat.
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:09 pm
How about my favorite HOLIDAY road trip CDs? All of Amy Grant’s Christmas CDs but especially the first two. Oh, they take me back to the good old days, driving 200 miles, in the dark, to my Grandmother’s house for Thanksgiving or Christmas.
I miss that.
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:16 pm
Neil Diamond Greatest Hits Vol 1 and 2. I am such a geek.

GOOOOOO BUY SOMETHING NOW!!!!
LISTEN AND LOVE!
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:32 pm
Wow, this is hard. Really hard to narrow it down to one – so I won’t really try that hard!
I love BarlowGirl, especially their debut album. And Casting Crowns. And Third Day.
My kind of off-beat pick would be Lone Justice – an 80′s alternative Christian band. I love the vocals and the lyrics.
I’d better stop or I’m going to go crazy.
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:32 pm
Oh me too me too. I am hooked…..
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:33 pm
Hyperstatic Union! Very funky, Stevie Wonderish.

Great list! Also I just had to say how totally jealous I am of you listening to the Third Day CD! I bet it’s good. ~:-D
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:36 pm
I love Bebo Norman for the long car trips.
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:38 pm
Nichole Nordeman is my favorite — oh, and then there’s Point of Grace, Third Day and Casting Crowns. Oh why would you limit it to one cd? Or even 10? Get a MP3 player and load that baby up!
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:41 pm
Can’t gon on a roadtrip without my praise and worship cd’s from what we sing in church!
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:45 pm
I love Nichole Nordeman.
Not Christian, but Kasey Chambers makes great road music.
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:45 pm
right now all me and my bunch listens to is the David Cook cd we made by d/l his studio performances off Itunes. xoxo melzie
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:47 pm
My most recent favorite is “Conversations” by Sara Groves, but I would also take along her other two CDs “Past the Wishing” and “Add to the Beauty”. I guess I’d put together a compilation CD for the road.
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:49 pm
I love me some Chris Rice and Keith Urban. I also LOVE the hymns CD by Selah…great stuff!
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:51 pm
A Night In Rocketown – it is a Live recording of all of the artists that were on the Rocketown label at the time:
Michael W. Smith, Ginny Owens, Chris Rice, Cindy Morgan, Watermark …. etc…. in concert.
How could you POSSIBLY go wrong with that?!?!?!?!
PLEASE pick me for the CD!!!!
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:54 pm
Acapella – Set Me Free
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:54 pm
hey! my favorite road trip cd( that’s a hard one) is anything by Sara Groves. She’s my absolute favorite.
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:56 pm
My husband and I love canadian artist Sam Roberts!
And Keith Urban is great too :)
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:58 pm
I am going to cheat–My favorite road trip CD is a mix I put together of songs I’ve downloaded. It’s everything from worship songs and modern hymns to more upbeat Christian music. Love it!
July 3rd, 2008 at 5:58 pm
David Crowder Band’s A Collision – perfect road trip music!
July 3rd, 2008 at 6:01 pm
Probably, I’d have to say:
Toby Mac – Portable Sounds
David Crowder – A Beautiful Collision
Phil Wickham – Cannons
July 3rd, 2008 at 6:02 pm
Since being at Deeper Still this wknd, Mandisa is the CD of choice with Kirk Franklin’s Hero being second. Of course, if the boys are in the car with me we must listen to “Dive” by Steven Curtis Chapman. My husband said they listened to it at least 28 times while I was in Atlanta. I just replied “Welcome to my world.”
I was so excited to meet you during lunch at Deeper Still Saturday. I was so nervous for some silly reason but it was definitely nice to meet you. The wknd was ssssooooo awesome, I feel changed for good.
July 3rd, 2008 at 6:08 pm
My favorite roadtrip CD is one I made myself, with a mix of country, MoTown, jazz, worship music, and contemporary Christian. You could call me a music nut too. :)
Angela

July 3rd, 2008 at 6:08 pm
Currently, I always make sure I have plenty of David Crowder & the Glory Revealed CD.
As far as secular, I gotta have some Eagles and Steve Miller Band (greatest hits).
July 3rd, 2008 at 6:11 pm
Just one CD…hmmmm…Are you sure I can’t take my iPod? I guess it would be one of my Jami Smith CD’s. However, I could just as easily take some Third Day, Casting Crowns, Selah, David Crowder, Chris Tomlin, etc.
July 3rd, 2008 at 6:15 pm
Favorite road trip CD has to my Barenaked Laides Greatest Hits. Their songs are about total nonsense–and they are so fun! Perfect for a road trip!
OK…come on number generator…help Kelley win that little CD. Do I need to send the number generator people some monster cookies or something? : )
July 3rd, 2008 at 6:16 pm
BooMama – Seriously – only one cd. Like you, my list just grows and grows. We actually have very similar music likes – so I will add another to your list “Hymns Ancient and Modern” that was released by Passion. I love throwing that one in on a good long ride!
July 3rd, 2008 at 6:19 pm
Anything by Jon Bon Jovi
July 3rd, 2008 at 6:20 pm
I’m so out of touch with actual albums that I don’t think I can name one, but I love oldies and Christian music. Third Day has some great music.
July 3rd, 2008 at 6:21 pm
It would definitely be Casting Crowns ‘The Alter and the Door’ I absolutely LOVE it and I was blessed to see them in concert not long ago.
July 3rd, 2008 at 6:22 pm
Keith Urban
Kenny Chesney
Jason Aldean
Taylor Swift
Hannah Montana
July 3rd, 2008 at 6:26 pm
What I have to listen to:
Music Machine
What I’d choose to listen to:
Paul Brandt
July 3rd, 2008 at 6:28 pm
Casting Crowns, I think it’s called “The Altar and The Door” Not sure about that though. I don’t pay attention to details (like titles)! :)
LOVE IT!
But it doesn’t matter. ANYTHING by Casting Crowns is wonderful!
July 3rd, 2008 at 6:36 pm
My favorite road trip cd pretty much changes every time I go on a trip, but most recently it has been Mandisa.
July 3rd, 2008 at 6:43 pm

July 3rd, 2008 at 6:48 pm
Gotta love Nichole Nordeman- and of course Amy Grant- we listened to that tape at my house when I was in junior high or something :). My favorite road trip CD would be…oh, choosing just one is SO hard…probably something by Out of Eden…like one of their first few CD’s…Lovin’ the Day is a good one.
July 3rd, 2008 at 7:04 pm
I’m in the van little and only for short trips, that I prefer to flip through the radio and listen to all kinds of music rather than just a set CD. But around the house I prefer a cd. Anything works. Except on Sundays. Then I want hymns (our church mainly does “contemporary” music).
July 3rd, 2008 at 7:10 pm
I love Caedmon’s Call for road trips! And my hubby loves Third Day!
July 3rd, 2008 at 7:11 pm
Favorite road trip CD’s…so many to name…I’ll try!
Christian – Third Day – Offerings
Secular – Eagles – The Very Best Of (ok, it’s actually a 2 CD set)
Not to worry my favorite CD (in my ipod) to work out or run to is none other than Travis’ Alive Forever. Let’s face it, that CD is great anytime.
Also, since Mary likes country music, may I suggest Richie McDonald’s new CD? He’s the former lead singer of Lonestar and just released a Christian CD (I Turn To You) and I like it. Also, anything by the Crabb Family or Crabb Revival’s new CD (The Journey). They’re considered southern gospel, but they fit well with the style you hear on country radio (not quartet style).
July 3rd, 2008 at 7:17 pm
I am currently in love with Downhere’s Wide Eyed and Mystified. That would be it right now. Might change tomorrow though.
July 3rd, 2008 at 7:17 pm
I heart Third Day. I seem to have some luck on your site, so I am entering again in hopes of winning. And if there is any statutory limits, please know that the last cd I won, I did not really like, so I gave it away on my blog!! But I KNOW I will love Third Day!!!
July 3rd, 2008 at 7:18 pm
My favorite, favorite, favorite road trip CD is Third Day Offerings…the first one. Oh my! We WORE OUT two copies! NOT ONE BAD SONG IN THE LOT!
July 3rd, 2008 at 7:25 pm
For a road trip, there’s no question: the soundtrack to Top Gun RULES!
July 3rd, 2008 at 7:26 pm
So many more than one would apply! I’ll go with my newest fav…Chris Tomlin’s Arriving. BTW…I’m coming out of Lurkville with this comment. =)I love music and have been wishing for some new stuff.
July 3rd, 2008 at 7:26 pm
I am an iPod person, but when I travel with my kids and hubby, our music is always fun, kiddie music (They Might Be Giant’s albums for kids, for example). When I’m alone, I have been known to rock out to 90s chartbusters, Paganini violion concertos, Plumb, and even Cake (I am a varied music lover!).
Thanks!

July 3rd, 2008 at 7:28 pm
anything by John Mayer…keeps my son singing along and happy on the drive
July 3rd, 2008 at 7:34 pm
Monk and Neagle would probably be one. I think right now, I would have to say Selah Greatest Hymns. There is a fountain is just amazing!
July 3rd, 2008 at 7:38 pm
Well I don’t really have a Cd, I just have my i pod on in my car, so I listen to all my favorite music every time I drive. I have Third day whom I love. I do not have their new album either! A ton Of Michale Buble, some Mariah Carey, Jack Johnson etc, etc. I mean you name it, I have it. My fave right now is Chris Tomlin.
July 3rd, 2008 at 7:39 pm
Daddy Rich!! That’s my husbands band,he rocks!
July 3rd, 2008 at 7:42 pm
I LOVE Christian music and listen to a ton of it, but for a road trip, I pick Fleetwood Mac Rumours, cause that is what we road tripped to in my youth.
July 3rd, 2008 at 7:43 pm
Oh BooMama…does it have to be a CD? Here’s the reason for my question. Growing up on the mission field my family and I did a lot of crossing borders when we went on road trips. The border crossing episodes were quite stressful in the 90′s, so we had a TAPE, yes TAPE that we listened to every time we crossed a border…any border. It was appropriately dubbed “The Border Crossing Tape.” The real name of it was Wacky Weirdos and had songs like Ahab the Arab, The Purple People Eater, Blue Suede Shoes, etc. It was great fun. So when I think of any road trip music anything…I think of the “Border Crossing Tape.” as my favorite of all time.
July 3rd, 2008 at 7:44 pm
i absolutely LURVE rascal flatts!
July 3rd, 2008 at 7:46 pm

July 3rd, 2008 at 7:51 pm
I’d have to take mt MP3
July 3rd, 2008 at 7:51 pm
Hands down… Michael Buble (any Michael Buble). Everyone in the family loves him, but my oldest daughter and I just adore him! :)
July 3rd, 2008 at 8:05 pm
Well usually when I am in the car with my girls we are either listening to Praise & Worship sung by kids or my 4 year olds new passion Hannah Montana ( How in the world did she discover her when we don’t even have cable????) Anyways I would love a new CD to listen to.
July 3rd, 2008 at 8:08 pm
I’ve been singing REALLY loudly to Selah’s Greatest Hymns, particularly “I Need Thee”!
July 3rd, 2008 at 8:18 pm
I love to listen to Selah (any CD) and Lincoln Brewster in the car – it’s great to sing along to and so uplifting. We have been known to break out some vintage DC Talk CDs every once in a while just to spice things up.
July 3rd, 2008 at 8:19 pm
Couldn’t think of leaving home for even a short trip without my Shaun Groves CDs. White Flag is my favorite, but I really like them all.
The rest, in no particular order:
Robbie Seay Band
Phil Wickham
Nathan Tasker
Toby Mac (Divercity, Portable Sounds and Live and Transported)
Third Day
Salvador
Kutless
Switchfoot
And finally; the deluxe edition of the soundrack to The Phantom of the Opera.
Beth

July 3rd, 2008 at 8:39 pm
Pick ME!
July 3rd, 2008 at 8:39 pm
Sheryl Crow’s C’mon C’mon is a must for me on any road trip.
Anything by Apolgetix, too.
If I want to go old school, it has to be the Texas Tornadoes. My dad is a huge Freddy Fender fan, and we listened to him A LOT when I was a kid.
Yay for Third Day!
July 3rd, 2008 at 8:44 pm
Anything by Mercy Me! :-)
July 3rd, 2008 at 8:46 pm
We just went on a road trip from San Diego, CA to TX, KS, and back, and the CARS movie (Pixar) soundtrack was great. My favorite cd of all time, though, is Ginny Owens Without Condition. Amazing!
July 3rd, 2008 at 8:48 pm
I love Third Day!
Just one CD is way too hard! I listen to Christian music almost exclusively, but Kenny Chesney’s older stuff is fun to listen to, also.
July 3rd, 2008 at 8:49 pm
oo- seriously- third day!
July 3rd, 2008 at 8:51 pm
guess that depends on my road trip partners now doesn’t it?!
Where Magic lives, WDW Official Album is like letting the kids take a mini Dis*ney vacation on the way to anywhere! And Phillips,Craig&Dean Favorite Live Songs of All just replaced P,C, and D Let my words be few. But how can I not throw in Chris Tomlin Arriving? I must. But this week end? Lee Greenwood’s God Bless the USA.
July 3rd, 2008 at 8:52 pm
Being Canadian, a little Bryan Adams never hurts. His Reckless CD has Summer of 69 on it – the ultimate roadtrip song.
July 3rd, 2008 at 8:56 pm
I have “Riverdance” in my car permanently. . love it!
July 3rd, 2008 at 9:01 pm
I have a tradition of doing a George Strait marathon – usually with is boxed set. Gotta love me some George! If it’s a REALLY long trip my second marathon is Steven Curtis Chapman.
July 3rd, 2008 at 9:05 pm
For road trips, I need something I can really sing (b/c I’m usually traveling alone to visit friends.) I have a playlist on my iPod titled “songs for singing” and it’s got everything in my range that I can really belt – stuff by Selah, Emmy Rossum, Imogen Heap, The Coors. Oh, and my Best of Broadway cd.
July 3rd, 2008 at 9:22 pm
Mandisa- True Beauty. We ROCK to “Shackles”.
July 3rd, 2008 at 9:23 pm
I love Pages by Shane and Shane, also.
July 3rd, 2008 at 9:26 pm
First off, I love the Bart Millard Hymned CD!
Some fav roadtrip music;
Eagles Greatest Hits
John Cougar Mellencamp
Alison Krauss & Union Station(Live)
Casting Crowns
Any 90′s rock
And especially my Sounds of the 70′s collection!
July 3rd, 2008 at 9:28 pm
Ross Parsley… anything Desperation Band. Love it!!!
July 3rd, 2008 at 9:33 pm
Well…my perfect road trip CD is actually a playlist on my mp3 player. I just did this a couple of weeks ago. My best friend accompanied me 14 hours from FL to Regent U. She was HORRIFIED that I did not have any ’80s music, but what I did have was the R&B genre (including my gospel music) on my mp3 which allowed us to bop until the battery ran out. I think each road trip would have a different mix depending….
July 3rd, 2008 at 9:33 pm
Dave and Jess Ray…who most of you don’t know, but they are worship leaders at my church and have an awesome and rockin CD! But they are on itunes if you want to listen. And I agree much with Hymned by Bart Millard. There is a second one coming out that I am excited about.
July 3rd, 2008 at 9:36 pm
Anything by Casting Crowns is my Christian choice. Bob Seger Live for my secular choice.
July 3rd, 2008 at 9:40 pm
Well, before the children, my husband and I loved listening to Garrison Keillor, Lake Wobegone CDs. Not music, but that man can tell a story! Now, unfortunately, it’s just Finding Nemo or Dora DVD’s. Sigh!
July 3rd, 2008 at 9:42 pm
Who can choose? A good mix CD is always the best – and thanks to this thread, I will be happily making several all the long weekend!
July 3rd, 2008 at 9:45 pm
My CD player doesn’t work in my car, but if it did I’d have to say Jennifer Knapp’s Kansas (whatever happened to her anyway?) or probably some Watermark. Those are my faves on my iPod Shuffle when they pop up.
July 3rd, 2008 at 9:45 pm
If I have to choose just one…Salvador!
July 3rd, 2008 at 9:48 pm
The soundtrack from Get Shorty!
July 3rd, 2008 at 9:48 pm
NICOLE NORDEMAN hands down!
July 3rd, 2008 at 9:50 pm
I love Stephen Curtis Chapman…anything by him. The CD that has been hogging our home CD player is Chris Tomlin “Arriving”. On road trips however…we’re lucky if we get to listen to 30 minutes of adult music. Our kids have taken over the airwaves of our vehicle. That’s for sure!
July 3rd, 2008 at 9:53 pm
Robbie Seay Band’s Give Yourself Away – absolutely amazing.
http://www.robbieseayband.com/default-new.aspx?source=splash
If it’s secular music, I let my husband pick – he is a wizard about good music and every time we travel I wind up saying “you brought THAT? How COOL!”
July 3rd, 2008 at 9:53 pm
I wouldn’t leave home without Casting Crowns. WHO AM I is my favorite song. Now hand over some Third Day =)
Julie
July 3rd, 2008 at 9:54 pm
Easy.
Hands Down.
A simple shiny plain silver cd with “Nashville” written with a Sharpie. My best friend made it for me when she moved away to Nashville for me to listen to on my way to go see her. It made her leaving just a little less sad ;)
It’s full of old country and a little bit of lord lovin’ tunes too.
That’s some serious Nash Love.
Thanks Melanie I miss you!
July 3rd, 2008 at 9:57 pm
Amy Grant’s album Simple Things is my absolute favorite! Also love me some Casting Crowns, Mercy Me, Garth Brooks, Reba, and Ginny Owens. :)
July 3rd, 2008 at 9:58 pm
I love to listen to TobyMac in the car!
July 3rd, 2008 at 9:58 pm
Books on tape are my favorites now, I also listen to Beth Moore Bible studies, I just buy the audio on cd and can listen to an entire study on a trip….awesome!!!
July 3rd, 2008 at 9:58 pm
Right now, my two favorites are This Moment by Steven Curtis Chapman and Natalie Grant’s latest (I can’t remember the name of it). If the boys are with me, we rock out to the Newsboys’ Go.
July 3rd, 2008 at 9:59 pm
For road trips we dig out the old stuff…Rich Mullins (anything and everything) or Caedmon’s Call (40 acres).
July 3rd, 2008 at 10:02 pm
Right now I am really into addison road, and story side B
and and need to breathe
July 3rd, 2008 at 10:02 pm
Thanks for the flash back of music. I loved and still love me some Amy Grant. No ones collection would be complete with out her. I also listened to Journey and REO Speedwagon. I love just about all worship music. I can never get enough of Mercy Me, Jars of Clay, and Barlow Girl. I think I feel an IPOD marathon coming on!!
July 3rd, 2008 at 10:06 pm
Jeremy Camp rocks.
July 3rd, 2008 at 10:10 pm
Shaun Groves, “One Night in Knoxville.” He makes me laugh!!
July 3rd, 2008 at 10:10 pm
Road trips…hmmm. Usually a CCM top list I need to preview for worship styles! AND Phyllips, Craig, & Dean worship, AND…oh, I’m too tired to think at the moment, but there are a slew of them weighing down my visor.
July 3rd, 2008 at 10:13 pm
normally its my IPOD playlist, but if I have to pick a CD out of the case it will most likely be…
Jars of Clay- Redemption Songs. LOVE IT!
July 3rd, 2008 at 10:15 pm
Christian: Kari Jobe

Happy 4th!
Jill :)
July 3rd, 2008 at 10:16 pm
I would love love love to win this. And I’ll sing to you if I do. But that would make your ears hurt and your smile would be forced looking…so I won’t sing to you if I win.
Thank you.
July 3rd, 2008 at 10:21 pm

Journey
July 3rd, 2008 at 10:28 pm
Hmmm…there are so many, but I love David Crowder and Mercy Me.
July 3rd, 2008 at 10:34 pm
There is just something about good “old” rock…Boston can just keep me driving for hours.
July 3rd, 2008 at 10:36 pm
I love oldies – music from the 60s. And I love soundtracks from musicals. Anything I can sing along with actually – to which my travelling companions usually say
“umm… YOU may be enjoying that….”
July 3rd, 2008 at 10:38 pm
in addition to third day & scc…. i’ve been listening to
broken vessels – unashamed
christopher ames – every day with you
oh – and lest we forget her – jennifer knapp has been one of my faves since “kansas”…. i ordered that one based on the cover…. loved it!
July 3rd, 2008 at 10:39 pm
I’ve been listening to Casting Crowns lately and I love ‘em!
July 3rd, 2008 at 10:41 pm
Favorite traveling song… it was years ago and my best friend and I put so many miles on her van traveling to see family and friends. We packed up the kids every few months and would just head out after dinner. My favorite CD was by Andrew Peterson called Carried Along. My favorite song on the album is “Nothing Left to Say”. Christinaloved “Hold up my Arms” from the Clear to Venus album. Good traveling music.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
Suzy Q
July 3rd, 2008 at 10:41 pm
Hmmmm….let’s see. I just took a three hour road trip today with my kids. We listened to:
Camp Rock Soundtrack
Daughtry
Ray Charles Genius Loves Company
July 3rd, 2008 at 10:46 pm
Well, it’s a Christian CD called All I Have to Spare by an unknown, Nathanael Hency, from Indiana. The entire fam knows every.single.word. Love me some Third Day, too.
July 3rd, 2008 at 10:47 pm
Anything by Casting Crowns or Avalon can make miles seem like inches. Thanks for sharing.
July 3rd, 2008 at 10:51 pm
When we start on a road trip, we ALWAYS start with Movin’ Right Along by the Kermit the Frog and Fozzie Bear.
It’s a song that says “let’s start our vacation!”
For those who don’t remember:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6w316aA8ed8
July 3rd, 2008 at 10:52 pm
I have to say that theee most perky sing-along music I have run-across in a while is Natasha Bettingfield’s (Sp?) newest CD…excellent car fare.
But a close second at present is probably Sara Grove’s Station Wagon: Songs for Parents. I’m just all up in the middle of all that, and the music is excellent on every level for every body in the car!
July 3rd, 2008 at 10:53 pm
Undone, by Mercy Me. Anything by Mercy Me!
July 3rd, 2008 at 10:53 pm
Christian music…Shaun Groves, Invitation to Eavesdrop. I get to track 3 (Welcome Home) and listen to it, rewind, later, rinse, repeat. That is, until my family stages a revolt and begs for the next song.
Non Christian? Jimmy Buffet. Greatest Hits. Woot!
July 3rd, 2008 at 10:58 pm
OH MY STARS AND GARTERS I REALLY REALLY REALLY WANT THIS CD TO GIVE TO MY HUSBAND!!!
OK, my favorite road trip song (I don’t really have a whole CD that’s a fave) is “(I’m Gonna Be) 500 Miles” by The Proclaimers. I remember dancing to that song by the side of the highway on a road trip with my 5 cousins, my aunt, and my mom. (we needed to stretch our legs!) What good times!
Also, nothing starts a trip better than “On The Road Again” by The Veggie Tales!!
July 3rd, 2008 at 10:59 pm
I’d have to say Third Day, and not because that’s who you’re giving away. I just love their music, especially the praise albums, and love that my husband will sing along with me. :) Thanks!!
July 3rd, 2008 at 11:00 pm
Well, if the girls could pick, it would currently be the soundtrack to “Seussical: The Musical”. =)
July 3rd, 2008 at 11:00 pm
Well, each time we take a road trip, my husband creates a compilation CD of various artists (across all genres) that will get us in the frame of mind of our destination. For example, when we went to NY last year, he burned a CD with Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen (OK, he’s Jersey, but its close), Barry Manilow singing NY NY, Neil Diamond, and Frank Sinatra. Quite a mix, but it really set the mood for NY (all of the songs had something NY in them). We can recreate one of these trips just by listening to the CD later. It’s lots of fun and a great way to reminice (SP?) on a cross town drive. We love Third Day and it would be great to have the new CD. Thanks,
Tammy E.
July 3rd, 2008 at 11:04 pm
I like to start with a little Steven Curtis Chapman and the Great Adventure.
July 3rd, 2008 at 11:09 pm
Marc Broussard’s “Carencro” may be the best CD ever. It’s life changing. SO amazing.
And Chris Tomlin’s “See the Morning”
And let us NOT forget Tom Petty’s Greatest Hits.
3 CDs. 3 hours. Where should I go!?!
July 3rd, 2008 at 11:13 pm
Dave Barnes – Me, You + The World. It’s a new favorite. Soulful, spiritual, and fun at the same time. I love how he has some songs just for fun and some songs that definitely have a Christian message. I could listen to any of his music for days at a time. :)
P.S. – I just discovered your blog yesterday & am really enjoying reading it & all the other blogs it has led me to! :) Thanks for sharing!
July 3rd, 2008 at 11:14 pm
Anne Murray’s Greatest Hits. Reminds me of childhood road trips in the van. Can still sing every word of those songs even if it’s been years since I’ve heard them.
Also, this is the first comment I’ve left on your blog and I want to say that you bring a smile to my face every time I read your blog and most of the time I’m laughing out loud to the point that my coworkers come to see what’s so funny. So, thank you!
July 3rd, 2008 at 11:19 pm
My girls, 3 and almost 2 years old, crack me up b/c to them a road trip isn’t a road trip with out Willie Nelson’s On the Road Again! ha, ha
July 3rd, 2008 at 11:29 pm
Just about any CD says roadtrip to me, because that’s about the only time we listen to them. I guess my first pick is Pat Green, with WOW Worship, Yellow next.
July 3rd, 2008 at 11:33 pm
MercyMe All That Is Within Me
July 3rd, 2008 at 11:36 pm
It’d probably be either a CD of various 80′s songs or something by Steven Curtis Chapman.
July 3rd, 2008 at 11:36 pm
We listen to lots of the Jayhawks on road trips. Mmmhmmm.
July 3rd, 2008 at 11:42 pm
de-lurking for chance to win!
Some of our faves…
Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers
The Refreshments (Roger’s first band)
U2
Jewel
Alison Krauss
Amy Grant
Jimmy Buffet (the hubbies’)
Daughtry
Bo Bice
Pretty much most anything country…
July 3rd, 2008 at 11:56 pm
Oh gosh! How hard this is to name just one…but probably my all time favorite is The Martin’s- Glorify, Edify, Testify.
July 4th, 2008 at 12:42 am
Mama says to add Alan Jackson’s hymn cd to your list- really wonderful!
I don’t think that I could name just one road trip cd- lately it’s been old school rap, well, at least when the kids aren’t in the car!
July 4th, 2008 at 12:44 am
I like U2′s “Joshua Tree” album for road trips. Yes I believe that does date me somewhat, but I don’t care.
July 4th, 2008 at 1:00 am
My girlfriends and I have a tradition: We must listen to “Part of Your World” from “The Little Mermaid” on every road trip. It started in high school on a road trip to Cannon Beach, OR.
Other than that, I tend to choose a variety and listen to it to death. But the next trip could be a completely different variety.
(Okay, the first time I submitted my comment, it told me there was an error. So, I’m pretty sure the first one was deleted. But if for some reason you get both, I’m REALLY sorry… please delete one for me. I’m not trying to double-enter into the contest! I promise!)
July 4th, 2008 at 1:13 am
I’m a big fan of Waterdeep, an unbelievably amazing Indie Christian group (or duo, depending on which CD you’re listening to). Don and Lori Chaffer are the major songwriters, and their work is so real and so inventive.
I love them so much that the 6-disc changer in my car is half full of Waterdeep CDs and their songs consume a good portion of my MP3 player. You should seriously check out some of their stuff. I think you’d like it.
July 4th, 2008 at 1:44 am
Was Petra around back then??? :) They are still one of my fav road trip albums. Unfortunately I lost the one I had. That or my brother stole it! And so at this point I can’t remember which album it was… although one of the newer ones since I was introduced to them late!
July 4th, 2008 at 1:58 am
In Christ Alone by Keith and Kristyn Getty. If you haven’t heard them, run now and buy it! There is a Higher Throne and the Power of the Cross are the absolute best. My entire family is word perfect!
July 4th, 2008 at 2:38 am
Right now in the car is : Anthony Evans, Carrie Underwood, Chris Tomlin, Passion, Glory Revealed
July 4th, 2008 at 2:44 am
I used to listen to Jars of Clay’s self-titled album and Counting Crows’s August and Everything After when I would road-trip from chicago to minneapolis every month.
Can you tell that was a long time ago?
July 4th, 2008 at 5:06 am
Oh a trip two years ago to Tennessee we had a 9 month old along with our other two older children. Well let’s just say that that 9 month old screamed and cried the whole way up and back. Not a fun trip. So I decided that we needed supreme intervention because we would be making a trip to MAINE in a few more months. We live in Florida by the way. So I started observing my son and what he like to “listen” to. He did not like Christian music (I know I know)he didn’t like country (who is this kid?) he didn’t like blue grass (now we’re worried) but what I noticed was that he liked the songs in certain movies. He liked the song from the movie Cars that plays at the beginning, so this started a movie marathon. If he did his little happy dance I was on the computer downloading it for our next trip. By the time I was done I had anywhere from Brian Adams to High School Musical songs on this CD lol. So off to Maine we went with no screaming or fussing the whole way. Yippee! We heard the same 9 songs over and over and over again ha ha! My husband would say “oh look it’s my favorite song AGAIN!” Well that’s my road trip music story. Sorry so long. Had to share.
Blessings,
Kim
July 4th, 2008 at 5:22 am
My favorite road trip CD is Part II by Brad Paisley.
I really hope I win the Third Day CD. :)
July 4th, 2008 at 5:59 am
Only one??? That is tough. I would have to go with Monk and Neagle’s Twenty-First Time.
July 4th, 2008 at 6:23 am
Car trips remind me of going home in college and my best friend Holly and I *always* listened to Steve Miller band greatest hits. what memories…
July 4th, 2008 at 6:47 am
Jars of Clay for me. Anything they sing I love!
July 4th, 2008 at 6:48 am
Right now it would be Addison Road’s self-titled album. Good lyrics, God focused, great mix of energetic and thoughtful music.
July 4th, 2008 at 7:00 am
Well thannk goodness for Itunes so I can mix my own CD ;)
My mixed CD would include Phillips Craig and Dean, Jeremy Camp, Todd Agnew, Third Day,Matthew West, Building 429, Mercy Me, Toby Mac, Selah, Nicole Nordeman, and then a little bit of Alan Jackson and Kenny Chesney!
Tiffintexas
July 4th, 2008 at 7:26 am
Our road trip CD used to be a compilation of stuff my husband burned to a CD (non-Christian). I listen to Chris Tomlin almost ever morning on my commute to work. Now on the longer trips, we plug in my teen’s iPod and go with whatever he has loaded.
July 4th, 2008 at 7:44 am
Garth Brooks
July 4th, 2008 at 7:49 am
Nichole Nordeman, Sara Groves, the David Crowder Band, Watermark, Selah, Monk and Neagle, Natalie Grant, Caedmon’s Call, Shane and Shane, Casting Crowns, Todd Agnew and too many more to name.
OH, oh and Chris Tomlin, Superchick and Mandisa.
We all sing along with JT. (And, people, that is NOT JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE.)
July 4th, 2008 at 7:50 am
E A S I L Y… Third Day’s Live Worship album… over and over on the road. and, be careful listening to the last song “Love Song” while you’re driving! It’s a love song from Jesus to us, and it’s very hard to see the road through your tears.
July 4th, 2008 at 7:52 am
a compilation CD of the hits I listened to in high school (actually — my high school music years existed during the one-hit wonders, so let’s go with the Husband’s high school year, which were a tad earlier).
Thanks for the chance to win!
July 4th, 2008 at 7:55 am
Kids Sing Along
July 4th, 2008 at 8:05 am
Oh my … so much to choose from! I’m with Missy on the road trips to the beach …. Has to be Jimmy Buffett as we cruise in our rag top. The newest Eagles “Long Road Out of Eden” seems to play a lot lately on road trips though. I mix up a lot of my own cds with various artist that I just simply like so it’s hard to pick just ONE artist!
July 4th, 2008 at 8:14 am
If I had to choose one, I would have to go with Jars of Clay – my favorite!
July 4th, 2008 at 8:17 am
We love the WOW Worship CDs too. They cover about 20 different artists per cd, Top notch.
July 4th, 2008 at 8:23 am
I just went on a road trip from MN to WY and my favorite of the trip was In the Name of Love — it’s covers of U2 songs by Christian artists. SO GOOD.
July 4th, 2008 at 8:23 am
ONLY on road trips, classic rock all the way!
Steve Miller Band
Eagles
Lynyrd Skynyrd
Guns N Roses
Oh and I MUST hear “Girls just wanna have fun” by Cindy Lauper at LEAST once! With 4 females in the car, it’s a rule at our house!
And any selection where more cowbell is featured.
I gotta have more cowbell!
July 4th, 2008 at 8:24 am
I would take Jewel and no, I can’t choose just one of her CDs that’s why I have an ipod.
July 4th, 2008 at 8:34 am

I would have to say anything by Caedmon’s Call would be my favorite. :)
July 4th, 2008 at 8:42 am
I love the Crabb Family’s DRIVEN CD…because there is always a little room for some SUPER-FANTASTIC southern gospel “pickin’ and grinnin’”!
July 4th, 2008 at 8:50 am
I would say Kenny Chesney…his music always makes me feel like I’m on vacation! :)

Three favorites, very different.
Good Shepherd Band… Sweet Rivers
Israel Kamakawiwo`ole…. Most of his music.
Hapa…. Hapa
Okay, the last two are both Hawaiian. But they are different in style. The first? It’s our worship band, and their first CD is great… Hoping for more. They are getting better and better and writing more.
Blessings, Kim
July 4th, 2008 at 9:26 am
Since we had kids various Veggie Tales CDs never leave our CD player. They’re pretty good too. ;)
July 4th, 2008 at 9:30 am
My favorite cd’s are ones I bought from Time Life thru the TV 5 years ago. They are Oldies love songs from the 50′s and 60′s and I listen to them over and over. They never get old to me. Plus I have Josh Groban (all of his), old country and The Twenty First Time. My newest favorite Christian group is Selah, when I found the story of Audrey Caroline. That family is amazing and his singing is awe-inspiring. You can hear some of their songs on their website, Bring the Rain. (I hope I have that right).
Happy 4th of July !!!!
Hugs,
Marie
July 4th, 2008 at 9:32 am
I love listening to Casting Crowns; I want to get the CD by Leona Lewis; and I love a good mix of country too (Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Garth Brooks, Carrie Underwood)… okay a bit more than you asked for, but there you go. Julie

July 4th, 2008 at 9:41 am

July 4th, 2008 at 9:43 am
More Than Life by Hillsong United!

July 4th, 2008 at 9:49 am
Okay, favorite road trip cd?? Like you I LOVE music….but on the road it’s fun to sing along so Avalon, The Creed CD or Carrie Underwood (both her CD’s) would be my top choices!

A road trip CD? Implying singular? Can it be a “Mix Tape” a la Michael Scott?
Okay, I’ll play by El Rules…
The Eagles. Greatest Hits. Volume One.
‘Cause I’ve got a peaceful, easy feeling…
July 4th, 2008 at 10:13 am

Our family classic road trip CD for the trip from Vancouver to L.A. through the night is “Songs from the Loft” from Amy Grant. Thanks for asking!! Leanne
July 4th, 2008 at 11:20 am
Michael Buble gets me through a lot of road trips.
July 4th, 2008 at 11:24 am
Road trip: Brad Paisley, Monk & Neagle, PFR – Great Lengths, Barlowgirl
I also listen to lots of comedy CDs while driving. Laughing and trying not to wet my pants moves me on down the road.
A new hymn CD I just downloaded: Jadon Lavik. Very enjoyable. Mellow, but upbeat.
July 4th, 2008 at 11:51 am
Christian – Third Day, Jars of Clay, David Crowder Band, Alli Rogers, Derek Webb, Toby Mac, Sarah Kelly, Delirious! (a bunch & a wide assortment!)
Country – Josh Turner (gotta love that deep voice–especially when singing about our Lord!)

Anything Manheim Steamroller
July 4th, 2008 at 12:07 pm
My favorite road trip CD is one that I complied of all my favorite worship songs, songs by Third Day (of course!!), Chris Tomlin, Jeremy Camp, Fernando Ortega, just to name a few. All songs I can sing along to!
July 4th, 2008 at 12:13 pm
No way to pick just one… gotta have Nichole Nordeman for the mellow time… and Third Day, MercyMe, or Big Daddy Weave for a little more rockin’ down the road.
And, so, I could use a new Third Day CD for my road trip coming up!!
July 4th, 2008 at 12:18 pm
We actually like to listen to Adventures in Odyssey (the radio program).
July 4th, 2008 at 12:19 pm
Great! Now could you make me a mix tape? : )
July 4th, 2008 at 12:19 pm
Nicole C Mullen is my road trip and moving to Connecticut CD!
July 4th, 2008 at 12:37 pm
My favorite road trip CD is “Undone” by MercyMe. But I could use a new one, so I would love to win the new Third Day CD.
July 4th, 2008 at 12:39 pm
Anything I can sing to… David Crowder, Third Day, Carrie Underwood, Kenny Chesney, Taylor Swift… the list could go on! Oh, and don’t forget the Mamma Mia! soundtrack from the Broadway musical.
July 4th, 2008 at 12:46 pm
Fernando Ortega, Mandisa, Travis (of course!) – I LOVE Alive Forever, but Found is pretty awesome too! Mercy Me, Fee, James Taylor “New Moon Shine” and the Veggies b/c the girlies get sick of Mama’s music sometimes!
July 4th, 2008 at 12:52 pm
You mean other than my cd mix tape? Either Elton John’s Greatest Hits or Aerosmith.
July 4th, 2008 at 12:53 pm
Great list…
On a recent solo road trip…I listened to The Best of Passion and also Jars of Clay’s Good Monster…I don’t know what it is with that CD…it is just so unusual and good…also David Crowder and Band…Illuminate…plus you can’t go wrong with Supertramp’s Breakfast in America, The Boys on the Side Movie Soundtrack and The Corr’s Forgiven not Forgotten.
July 4th, 2008 at 12:54 pm
Michael W. Smith Worship CD – my all time favorite
July 4th, 2008 at 1:09 pm
I love love love Travis’ Alive Forever cd! I also like Bon Jovi’s Lost Highway! How’s that for variety??
July 4th, 2008 at 1:14 pm
My best road trip CD’s are movie/theater soundtracks… I sing at the top of my lungs and it totally keeps me awake. My top picks are Wicked, Rent, Dreamgirls, Hairspray, and Enchanted.
And have your heard the Passion Hymns Ancient and Modern CD? It’s my FAVORITE hymns CD.
July 4th, 2008 at 1:49 pm
My favorite road trip CD right now is a Disney Channel hits one, since it keeps my tween happy and not gabbing my ear off the whole trip. I seriously NEED a new CD to save me from the likes of Hannah Montana and her cronies! Thanks for the chance at getting this one, I love Third Day!!
July 4th, 2008 at 2:09 pm
How wonderful! We’re leaving on Thursday for a major road trip. Thank you for the list. :)
A few years ago, for our annual road trip to San Diego, I bought a Beach Boys collection. It was so much fun.
July 4th, 2008 at 2:10 pm
Oh, fun another giveaway! I’m so out of it on new Christian music & really need to listent to some of those you listed. Now me…I grew up on Andre Crouch and The Archers..those were the days! I have a newly burned Andre CD that I went walking to this a.m. & they still rock, even if it was from probably 1978! Totally…
anyway, I love the Christ Church choir out of Nashville…that’s GREAT music to my ears.
xo,
Rhoda
July 4th, 2008 at 2:12 pm
I’d pick anything by Chris Rice. Love him! His newest one “Amusing” would be fun for a road trip!
July 4th, 2008 at 2:12 pm
80s all the way, baby! Gimme a little Air Supply, Chicago, REO Speedwagon, Bon Jovi. My friend has a great CD she made and it has ALL the good songs and whenever we have a girls’ weekend we always listen to that. Takes me right back to JR/SR high youth group. (Of course it only takes her back to Elem school, but I love her anyway!)
July 4th, 2008 at 2:16 pm
I love Third Day! I would take Jeremy Camp’s Unplugged CD! My fav!
July 4th, 2008 at 2:22 pm
Hymns are my favorite. They point me right to Jesus and remind me of the faithfulness of God for generations.
July 4th, 2008 at 2:40 pm
Casting Crowns is my favorite.
I LOVE music.
Kelly S.
July 4th, 2008 at 2:42 pm
I love my N’Sync cd but also my Motown #1′s with all the classic oldies!
July 4th, 2008 at 2:52 pm
Either of Third Day’s Offering CD’s.
July 4th, 2008 at 3:16 pm
I like something different everyday—right now I am really liking Natasha Bedingfield…and I heard she goes to Hillsong London–so maybe that meks it sorta Christian music?
July 4th, 2008 at 3:21 pm
Lately I’m loving a Casting Crowns CD that a friend gave me. Don’t even know which one it is — but I love it! Hmmm, also the Beach Boys is always good, or any other beach music (Drifters, Temptations), especially when it’s summer-time!
July 4th, 2008 at 3:21 pm
Wow, such a great question to ask the internets!! I’d probably have to go with any of the Hillsong United CD’s…the last one is amazing “All of the Above!”
July 4th, 2008 at 3:22 pm
The absolutely necessary CD for road trips here is Matthew West: History. The kids will even make sure that it is in the car before we head out!
In the road trip CD case we have Matthew West (all of them), Toby Mac: Portable Sounds, Josh Turner, a few children’s cds (including Veggie Tales and Signing Times), and of course, Third Day – all of them – except of course for Revelations which isn’t out yet. I hope I win – my CD case needs this CD!
July 4th, 2008 at 3:29 pm
I love Third Day…but one of my favorite CD’s to listen to on a road trip is anything by Casting Crowns or MercyMe!
July 4th, 2008 at 3:30 pm
Earth Wind & Fire’s Greatest Hits. My kids (11 & 13) LOVE it. What can I say, they have great musical taste :)
July 4th, 2008 at 3:37 pm
Jeremy Camp’s Stay
July 4th, 2008 at 3:42 pm
Choosing one CD is very difficult for me because I’m a music addict. Lately, I’ve been loving Maroon 5, Switchfoot, One Republic and Sugarland. I usually just burn compilation CDs for road trips because it’s too difficult to narrow down the CD stack. I’d love to win one of the new Third Day CDs. I love them! Thanks for the chance!
Happy 4th!
July 4th, 2008 at 3:52 pm
Anything by Passion Conferences, Third Day, Jars of Clay, and Jennifer Knapp!
July 4th, 2008 at 4:05 pm
Casting Crowns all the way!!!
July 4th, 2008 at 4:10 pm
Lately — Casting Crowns!
July 4th, 2008 at 4:39 pm
Happy Fourth of July! I love such eclectic music and it what I listen to depends on my mood. If I am going on a long road trip, it needs some pizazz to it. I really like Phil Collins and Genesis. Please enter me in your
delightful CD drawing. Many thanks, Cindi
July 4th, 2008 at 5:35 pm
Love the Brook Hills “Awaken” cds from 2007. Thanks for the giveaway!
July 4th, 2008 at 5:56 pm
Michael W Smith- Worship
July 4th, 2008 at 6:43 pm
Since most of our roadtrips tend to be in the summer, I’d have to say anything by Jimmy Buffet as long as it’s fit to play in front of the little ones!
July 4th, 2008 at 6:45 pm
It’s an old one – the Left Behind soundtrack.
Would love Third Day, and I do have a US address.
July 4th, 2008 at 6:45 pm
Okay, the country girl comes through in this response… Who can drive down the road without a little King George, aka George Strait?
July 4th, 2008 at 7:36 pm
James Taylor. . .and therefore Chris Rice too. :)
July 4th, 2008 at 8:36 pm
Well, my first thought was Neil Diamond! Then I asked my husband. His response? Weird Al. Wouldn’t you want to be on that road trip?
July 4th, 2008 at 8:55 pm
It would have to be Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ album “Into the Great Wide Open.” I’ve spent many trips singing along to their songs. Thanks for the giveaway!
July 4th, 2008 at 9:05 pm
My go to man is Steven Curtis Chapman.
July 4th, 2008 at 9:19 pm
Casting Crown and Creed are my favorite to listen to.
July 4th, 2008 at 9:23 pm
I just really started listening to Christian music. I started with your recommendation of Monk and Neagle, love, love, love it and was looking for more CDs to buy. THANKS for your list.
Now if I really had to pick only 1 CD it would have to be Journey, Greatest hits. Thankfully that will never happen. I have over 3,000 songs loaded on my Zune, everything from Monk and Neagle to Conway Twitty to Queen.
July 4th, 2008 at 9:51 pm
For this road trip it was Hillsong Mighty to Save, but I love Caedmon’s Call for road trips in general!
July 4th, 2008 at 10:02 pm
U2 BABY! Bono is going to be one of the worship leaders in heaven!
July 4th, 2008 at 10:10 pm
OK, I’m being honest — though I love Christian music (and all kinds of music) my favorite is Broadway —- and the one CD I would take is the sound track from “Wicked”. But you can’t just listen to it, you have to roll down all of the windows and belt it out while listening. Trust me, even though you get many, many, many strange looks, it’s SO worth it!
PLUS, it embarrasses the heck out of your children!!!!
:)
July 4th, 2008 at 10:28 pm
I would definetly have all 5 of my Sara Groves CD’s but my Third Day CD’S would be right along in the mix. I actually got to stand in line and meet/greet & get their autographs/pictures a few years ago. They were so nice and even though there was a one item limit to get signed they were gracious enough to sign my brother-in-laws CD who didn’t get to come due to aiding my sick sister. I didn’t even have to ask them to, they just did it joyfully!
Megan(FAN)
July 4th, 2008 at 10:33 pm
HUGE HUGE HUGE Third Day fan here. I ALWAYS have third day in the car, but also, on LONG road trips, gotta have a mix tape (ipod actually) of some good old 80′s songs.
And of course, a bit of Hannah Montana, and High School Musical thrown in for my little one….
July 4th, 2008 at 10:39 pm
Well. I don’t usually enter the contests. But I have to enter this one because it got me thinking about the last time I took a road trip.
I went down south to meet some new friends, if you know what I mean.
And the CD I listened to almost nonstop was Bryan Adams Greatest Hits.
July 4th, 2008 at 10:48 pm
Jack Johnson – any really – but if I could bring only one I’d bring On and On
July 4th, 2008 at 10:49 pm
My new favorite would have to be BarlowGirl, their first CD (sorry can’t remember the title). Love them and their message!
Blessings
Sue

July 4th, 2008 at 11:17 pm
Currently the most important CD we need for a road trip is one my husband made for my son with lots of kiddy songs. However, if I was alone it’s have to be either David Crowder or Shane and Shane.
July 4th, 2008 at 11:29 pm
Oh I love any Watermark. Christy Nockels is my absolute favorite. But if I was with my husband we would probably have Newsboys or Third Day on.
July 4th, 2008 at 11:29 pm
Robbie Seay Band-Give Yourself Away
oh and Veggie tales for the 3 yr old crowd!
July 5th, 2008 at 12:13 am
A homemade mix of 70′s & 80′s songs that my husband made…does this count? :) Thanks for the giveaway!
July 5th, 2008 at 2:21 am
Passion
or
SCC
or
Hillsong/Hillsong United
or
Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman, Paul Baloche, David Crowder
oops, way more than one – but that’s the glory of the iPod’s shuffle feature!
July 5th, 2008 at 6:55 am
classic fifties make their way into our road trip …..lately we listen to 10th Avenue North a lot!
July 5th, 2008 at 7:12 am
the soundtrack from saturday night fever…. and u2 anything.
July 5th, 2008 at 8:10 am
Too hard to decide!
But I love The Eagles Greatest Hits because they remind me of driving cross country in the baby blue station wagon as a kid.
Rest in peace, Pontiac Safari.
July 5th, 2008 at 8:13 am
Andrew Peterson!
July 5th, 2008 at 8:15 am
I sure hope it’s not too late to get in the contest. I love Third Day! They are probably my favorite Christian group.
I’ve been listening to Cobie Caillat recently and I like her style.
July 5th, 2008 at 8:28 am
Strong Tower CD by Kutless!
July 5th, 2008 at 8:39 am
I would like to be entered to win on of the CDs too. Thanks.
July 5th, 2008 at 8:50 am
My favorite is one no one has ever heard of, and you can’t get it anymore on CD (it’s out of print). But oh wow, I checked, and you CAN get it on iTunes. Go figure.
So my favorite is “Thifty Mr. Kickstar” by Dryve. Despite the download rates, the best song is “Rain,” which is hands down my favorite worship song ever. I got to see them perform it live before they broke up. It’s long on the CD and longer live. It starts slow and builds, sounds a little country although they’re definitely a ROCK band. LOVE IT. I remember listening to “Rain” one day, really getting into it, and it began pouring down rain. Kinda like a God thing or something. ;-)
The rest of the album is great too; don’t get me wrong. It’s what I call a “desert island” disc (if you had to choose 10 albums to be stranded with on a desert island, what would you pick?). It’s been on my list since it came out, oh, 15 years ago.
July 5th, 2008 at 8:58 am
Roadtrip with or without kids?
With: any Toby Mac, all my kids from age 3-15 LOVE him.
Without: classic Petra…oh, yeah Baby!!
July 5th, 2008 at 9:01 am
Oh, I would soooo love to win this. A CD that I find myself popping in over and over through the years would be Selah’s 2004 CD Hiding Place. The signature song My Hiding Place is one of my top most worshipful songs. I can truly be in the presence of the Lord when that song is on. However, I love any really exalting music!!
Blessings,
Trixi
July 5th, 2008 at 9:14 am
If I’m traveling with my kids, it’s the High School Musical soundtrack or perhaps now Camp Rock. Makes everybody happy.
If I don’t have to worry about what they think, I usually put on the country playlist from my iPod. Big ole mix of Rascal Flatts, Kenny Chesney, and a ton of others.
July 5th, 2008 at 9:14 am
I love (anything) SCC. But his new Cinderella is my favorite road trip choice (car ride, now with rising gas prices!)
Stephanie
July 5th, 2008 at 9:45 am
Depends on who is in the car with me – kids, they like country, hubby, he wants oldies, by myself, Brooklyn Tab with the Crabb family!
July 5th, 2008 at 9:55 am
My WOW CDs for sure!!! I have all of them and love them so much b/c they are such a great mix of all my fav songs.
July 5th, 2008 at 10:25 am
Growing up my dad would always put a Hal Ketchum tape in on long trips, now it doesn’t seem like a road trip w/o Hal.
July 5th, 2008 at 10:48 am
Matt Redmans’ “Blessed Be The Lord” CD.
And any of the Chris Tomlin’s CD. (mine is a compilation of my favorites of him put together by friend. Same with Casting Crowns)
July 5th, 2008 at 10:59 am
I kept changing my my every time I read another comment. So many favorites!
But this week, I’m headed to a Florida beach, so I’m taking Jimmy Buffet.
July 5th, 2008 at 11:04 am
David Crowder Band’s “Illuminate” cd is one of my all time favorites, as is Third Day’s “Offerings,” both of them.
July 5th, 2008 at 11:14 am
Good choices. Third Day is always in our top 10 for trips of any kind!
July 5th, 2008 at 11:42 am
Road Trip to the Beach- Beach Boys Greatest Hits
Road Trip to family Christmas- Amy Grant Home for Christmas
Road Trip anywhere else- Mandisa or Jimmy Buffett (they are very similar, you know.)
July 5th, 2008 at 1:22 pm
I, too, love Hymned #1 by Bart Millard (just got done listening to it!) and Phillips, Craig and Dean Top of My Lungs. We are traveling from Tuscaloosa, AL back to Indiana as we speak, or type I mean!
I said “Hey Boomama!” as we went through B-ham, by the way.
Because I’m not strange or nothin’!
This AT&T wireless card thingy is awesome! We’re in Franklin, TN right now and we may just pick up some lunch at Captain D’s~~ Although it’s not 4:30 in the afternoon, so The Cottrells probably aren’t there for supper yet! :)ha
Back to music, we have Selah and Mark Schultz along for the ride, too!
July 5th, 2008 at 1:52 pm
My favorite road trip CD is Gateway Worship’s new CD – “WAKE UP THE WORLD”
You can sample it at:
http://www.myspace.com/gatewayworship!
Great stuff, and we worship at church like this every Sunday – cuz Gateway is my church! WOO HOO!
Before that we listened a lot to Jamie Smith, Jeremy Camp, Third Day, and I really like Kari Jobe!
July 5th, 2008 at 3:18 pm
Short trips around town Come The Morning by Chris Tomlin. Longer road trips the complete Phantom of the Opera.
July 5th, 2008 at 3:48 pm
My fav is any of chris tomlin’s cds.
July 5th, 2008 at 4:17 pm
Any CD featuring Southern Gospel works great on road trips!! The four part harmony is the only way to go.
July 5th, 2008 at 4:18 pm
Coldplay!
And also Patsy Cline…my mother and I used to road-trip to my aunt’s in AL belting it out with Patsy the whole way there. :0) Good times…
July 5th, 2008 at 5:56 pm
I like to take clean secular songs and sing them as praise songs. Natasha Beddingfield’s Unwritten and Pocket Full of Sunshine are two of my FAVS right now.
Seriously… I can praise me some Jesus with these two songs.
I also love anything by Sara Groves and Lindsey Kane.
July 5th, 2008 at 7:04 pm
Sophie- saw you (and Melanie’s) face(s) on the LPM video highlighting Deeper Still Atlanta. Clearly Bet (and company) knows a good thing when they see it because there are also a few great shots of Angie in her denim trousers.
:) Hugs!!
July 5th, 2008 at 7:22 pm
I, too, am loving your lists and suggestions of Christian music, BooMama! Two days ago I spent quite a lot of time and $ on Itunes, thanks to you : )
Our favorite roadtrip cd is a compilation cd that a friend made for me – movie soundtraks – Sound of Music, Meet me in St Louis, the old Cinderella, and Rosemary Clooney and Frank Sinatra. While on a 13 hour road trip with my mom, husband, and 4-year-old daughter, there was something on it for everyone : )

My daughter is REALLY into Elvis which is funny. She is only 5.. It is a karyoke CD that we listen to. Her favorite song is Blue Suede Shoes. . .
July 5th, 2008 at 8:00 pm
I love George Strait’s “Pure Country” soundtrack!
July 5th, 2008 at 8:23 pm
We really like the WOW CDs…a wide variety of our favorite Christian songs. Other than that our most recent favorite was the first song only of one of Tim McGraw’s CDs – “Live Like You Were Dying.” We took a road trip to Chicago about a month ago so our kids and 4 of their friends could go skydiving. Of course, the SKYDIVING line of the song was where we had to turn the volume to the max! That song will always bring a big smile to our faces :)
July 5th, 2008 at 8:37 pm
80s music. Especially if I’m with my girls. It’s make the road trips way fun and way fast!!
July 5th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
On our road trip to Deeper Still we had: Mandisa, Travis Cottrell, and Randy Travis’s Glory Train!!
July 5th, 2008 at 9:01 pm
Okay, I am way too indecisive to choose a most favorite favorite, but one recent road trip was enlivened by Green Day “International Superhits” (I think that’s the name of the album).
July 5th, 2008 at 9:10 pm
Currently in my cd player is George Stait, Newsboys, and Casting Crowns.
July 5th, 2008 at 9:37 pm
Jennifer Knapp – Kansas. Listened to it moving to Texas from Florida and then when I moved back. Love it!!
July 5th, 2008 at 11:08 pm
Shannon Wexelberg is one of my new favorites.
Thanks.
Elayne

Wow worship
July 5th, 2008 at 11:32 pm
Favorite secular roadtrip: Center Stage soundtrack
Favorite Christian: Shine…The Hits by the Newsboys
July 6th, 2008 at 12:35 am
I just came back from a road trip and listened to Amy Grant’s collection there and back!
July 6th, 2008 at 8:07 am
Must. Have. My. Bee Gees!
July 6th, 2008 at 8:14 am
Charlie Hall… his music is loud and alive and yet there is beautiful worship as well. The perfect mix for all of your emotions during a roadtrip!
July 6th, 2008 at 8:44 am
I would probably take Casting Crowns or Mercy Me on our Ipod. I am just like your reader, Mary. I have gotten away from my Michael W Smith, Sandi Patti (showing my age) roots and over the years have leaned more towards Country music. Now that I have a 3 year old daughter I am trying to get back to Christian music.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:55 am
Wow, we are getting ready for a road trip in a week, and I will be loading my cd player with Frente (anyone here know who that is??) Chasing Furies, a mix cd with Cranberries and Alanis on it, soundtrack to a Buffy epi, My Chemical Romance, and probably one of our Passion Cds. Strange mix of cds I know, but I have eclectic tastes!
July 6th, 2008 at 10:11 am
I love me some christian music! Thanks for doing this giveaway. :)
July 6th, 2008 at 12:57 pm
My favorite Road Trip CD is James Taylor’s greatest hits. LOVE IT.
July 6th, 2008 at 2:18 pm
I LOVE YOUR BLOG! Fabulous!
But to answer the question, Sovereign Grace’s newest CD, “Come Weary Saints” has been my latest favorite travel buddy.
Besides my sweet husband Steve, of course!
Thanks for your blog–it is greatly enjoyed and appreciated!
July 6th, 2008 at 2:33 pm
I love everything by Third Day, and don’t have their latest CD, so I hope I win!
Right now I’m hooked on Indelible Grace. I can’t pick a favorite CD of theirs, though.
July 6th, 2008 at 3:34 pm
My last two road trips I listened to See the Morning by Chris Tomlin and In Christ Alone by Keith & Kristin Getty. Loved them!!
July 6th, 2008 at 3:34 pm
I also listen to a WIDE selection of music, but I dusted off “Abba” recently and have had a great time with it!
July 6th, 2008 at 3:44 pm
James Taylor’s Greatest Hits and/or one of my Christian Artists Mix CD’s. How can you listen to one artist for soooo long???? I have too much ADD for that:)
July 6th, 2008 at 5:34 pm
High School Musical, since my road trip is usually with kids. I also love to pop in some Keith Urban. I would LOVE to hear some Christian music besides just the Mormon Tabernacle Choir (who I love, by the way).
July 6th, 2008 at 5:42 pm
Just ONE???
If I really had to narrow it down, it would be a VERY tough choice between Shane Barnard’s “Rocks Won’t Cry” and Jen Knapp’s “Kansas”. I Love to sing in the car to these two CD’s!!
July 6th, 2008 at 5:56 pm
I have a great compilation CD of various artists singing songs written by Andrae Crouch. It is called Tribute. I enjoy listening to it because of all the featured artists, plus you can’t go wrong with Andrae Crouch songs!!
July 6th, 2008 at 6:13 pm
The Coyote Ugly soundtrack.
Truly a great roadtrip CD.
July 6th, 2008 at 6:24 pm
I don’t know if I could ever just pick just one CD. You’re talking about someone that goes from Depeche Mode to Nichole Nordeman to Kenny Chesney to Coldplay to Monk & Neagle before lunchtime. Plus some talk radio, then some Texas country, then some Journey. I am ADD girl!
July 6th, 2008 at 7:33 pm
I have to go with Monk & Neagle. I got it from a wonderful blogger named BOOMAMA!
July 6th, 2008 at 7:36 pm
Love listening to Matt Maher’s “Empty & Beautiful” as well as anything by Lost & Found (www.speedwood.com)
July 6th, 2008 at 8:26 pm
Am I crazy to even attempt to throw my hat in the ring?!?
But I have to say that one of my favorite CD’s isn’t made by recording studios, I have my teenager make my worship CD’s for me. She takes all my favorites from Nichole Nordeman, to Chris Tomlin and puts them all on one for me.
Pretty cool teenage-trait to have, Mom’s CD-maker!
July 6th, 2008 at 9:05 pm
Favorite road trip music would have to be Paul Simon’s Graceland album. From back when they were called albums.
July 6th, 2008 at 9:34 pm
I have 3 little girls, ages 6, 4, and 1, so any time we go anywhere it has to be kids’ music. They are loving listening to the Ramona books on CD right now. If by chance I were to go somewhere without them, I would be so happy to listen to grown-up music that anything would do. I love country music and American Idol, so maybe Carrie Underwood?
July 6th, 2008 at 9:45 pm
Best of the Eagles…or anything Keith Green. Depends on the mood.
July 6th, 2008 at 9:53 pm
I love so much music its hard to choose a favorite, but lately the “Hairspray” soundtrack has been moving me. Or anything opera.
July 6th, 2008 at 10:27 pm
Jungle of the Midwest Sea by Flatfoot56 – awesome Christian celtic punk
July 6th, 2008 at 10:51 pm
i have been digging listening to my iPod lately instead of CDs on roadtrips. i’ve invented a new game called “iPod roulette.” i have over 2000 songs i have accumulated over the years and i set it to play all and shuffle. you just never know what you will hear. i actually listened to 3 Christmas songs today…
July 7th, 2008 at 1:11 am
Allison Krauss- Forget About It, Elvis Presley’s Greatest Hits, Avalanch Ranch VBS CD for the kids!
July 7th, 2008 at 1:31 am
I still really like Johnny Cash’s “Walk the Line”. That deep voice and the guitar music really does sound good.
Thanks for sharing the goodness :))
July 7th, 2008 at 4:01 am
I have several Road Trip CD’s that I put together myself. That way I have a huge variety of things to listen to on my trips.
July 7th, 2008 at 6:18 am
I like anything I can sing to. Currently my favorite CDs are “Go” my the Newsboys and “The Road From Here” by Little Big Town.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:20 am
My favorites right now are Casting Crowns and TobyMac.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:20 am
Anything by Alison Krauss!
July 7th, 2008 at 8:27 am
Okay – I have eclectic tatstes – Delirious, Casting Crowns, George Michael, Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, anything you can sing along to to keep me awake! Thanks for a fun site BooMama
July 7th, 2008 at 8:37 am
WWWWWWWaaaaiiiit! I thought of something that I had to type. Even though I commented last night. Does that knock me out of the giveaway deally? Anyway, every summer right after school is out we take a road trip to South Padre Island with my parents and my brothers. It’s about a 12 hour trip and we have been known to do it in a day. When we cross the bridge to SPI we sing the SpongeBob theme song! How weird is that? Gotta go!
July 7th, 2008 at 8:46 am
My favorite road trip CD is a CD mix that my sister-in-law made. It has a great variety of oldies, country and Christian! It’s great! Thanks for the giveaway!
July 7th, 2008 at 8:56 am
The INXS greatest hits CD. Mostly winners. Makes me feel young and sassy again!
July 7th, 2008 at 9:10 am
Since I am such a big Third Day fan, I would have to say I love Offerings II. David Crowder Band’s Remedy is always a winner as well.
July 7th, 2008 at 9:39 am
If I am by myself, I listen to a mixed Christian CD. If husband and daughter are in tow, it is usually Elvis.
July 7th, 2008 at 9:40 am
I love the mix CD’s with plenty of classic rock and 80′s music…Journey, Def Leppard, Tom Petty, a little Pat Benatar! You know, the essentials.
July 7th, 2008 at 9:42 am
Any thing by Jars of Clay and I am good to go…especially their Good Monsters CD or their hymns project.
July 7th, 2008 at 9:46 am
Indigo Girls’ harmonies make for some fun travel, if you have a traveling buddy who can sing w/you.
July 7th, 2008 at 9:52 am
Since I can’t choose just a single cd, here are the top artists that are in my road trip collection…
Bon Jovi
David Crowder*Band
Third Day
George Strait
July 7th, 2008 at 9:53 am
Steven Curtis Chapman!! :)
July 7th, 2008 at 9:54 am
U2–The Joshua Tree!!
July 7th, 2008 at 10:12 am
I really love an artist named Brett Dennan, I am trying to stick to all Christian music (and I do when kids are around), but every once in a while a voice that is so soulful comes around, and I get hooked. That is this guy. He is good. My husband put him on my MP3, so I may have mispelled some of his last name. I am not good at reading the scroll. That’s me, technologically savy and all!
July 7th, 2008 at 10:19 am
My favorite is any album by Todd Agnew – he is absolutely wonderful!
July 7th, 2008 at 10:31 am
I would say my favorite traveling companion (as far as music goes) is definitely Harry Connick, Jr. He has a pretty wide variety from big band to funk, but two of my favorites for road trips are “She” and “Songs I Heard.”
July 7th, 2008 at 11:08 am
Michael Buble-any albums, LOVE his voice
Third Day-Come Together
Mercy Me-Almost There
Nicole C. Mullen-Everyday People
David Crowder Band-any
Monk and Neagle-The Twenty First Time
Just to name a few!
July 7th, 2008 at 12:15 pm
Currently it’s Dave Barnes! I can’t live without it in my 6-disc CD changer.
I’m TRULY surprised it’s not in your list above. I started humming it the other day while I was shopping (imagine THAT) in Lowe’s the other day and I thought it was because I couldn’t get it out of my head. Turns out it was playing over the PA in Lowe’s! How cool is that?
July 7th, 2008 at 12:18 pm
Third Day just speaks to me. And my wierd side loves some Chris Rice!
Kelli
July 7th, 2008 at 12:20 pm
Lately, I’ve got nothing on the brain aside from the latest VBS cd sent home with the children – which actually rocks in a lot of ways.
If I think back to pre-VBS, Casting Crowns and Jeremy Camp are tied – 2 cd’s from each, all four in constant rotation, would definitely get me across the country.
July 7th, 2008 at 1:18 pm
Sadly, our last road trip (with the grandkids) featured Sponge Bob’s Greatest Hits. You can pity me now. Or just send me this great CD. Thanks.
July 7th, 2008 at 1:36 pm
Chronicles of Narnia on CD….helps the time fly.
July 7th, 2008 at 1:51 pm
We love Third Day and Casting Crowns. But, when going on a long road trip, we also grab the Garth Brooks collection (one box… 8 or so CD’s!) Thanks for doing this give-a-way!
July 7th, 2008 at 1:57 pm
Oh, my … well … RIGHT NOW, it would be Into Motion by Salvador. I know — flash back to 2002, but its a good CD — especially if you want a good workout (with some Latin sass).
July 7th, 2008 at 1:58 pm
I had to think back long and hard for a road trip that did not consist of me listening to VeggieTales videos from the back seat. And then I remembered. There was a trip in college to see my soon-to-be fiance. I was alone in the car for the 5 hour drive. Windows down, sunglasses on, and singing Natalie Merchant’s “Tiger Lily” for all I was worth. Ahhh. Memories.
July 7th, 2008 at 2:23 pm
KENNY CHESNEY all the way baby, doesn’t matter which cd…gotta love him! :D Thanks for a super sweet giveaway as always!! :)
July 7th, 2008 at 2:33 pm
My family loves to listen to HAWK NELSON when we’re on the road. It is very upbeat and fun and is great at keeping me awake while driving.
July 7th, 2008 at 3:32 pm
Chris Tomlin rocks!
July 7th, 2008 at 3:33 pm
“Intermission” by DC Talk. Oh it’s a classic. Brings back all those summer nights in high school and the winter nights and just about every night as we listened to it over and over and over again.
July 7th, 2008 at 3:50 pm
Jars of Clay – Redemption Songs. It’s a hymns CD (and I love the Selah and Bart Millard ones you mentioned, Boo Mama) with a twist. I love hymns, straight up or fancy, and this disc is EXCELLENT.
July 7th, 2008 at 5:27 pm
I’m gonna say SCC’s Great Adventure. Classic.
