A Meaningless But Heartfelt Update

by BooMama on 31 July 2008

in Rambling

It would seem that our abundance of summertime activities finally caught up with me, because for the first three days of this week I didn’t leave my house. Oh, I showered, mind you (GOALS!), and I decked myself out in my finest all-cotton pajamas, but I didn’t leave the house. We were HUNKERED DOWN. Loved every second of it.

But yesterday afternoon I finally gave up the reclusive ghost and ran a few errands. It was delightful, I tell you. The traffic lights! The cars! The sunshine! The cheerful merchants! I was so thrilled to be in the company of other people that I didn’t even mind the excruciating heat, and that, my friends, is saying something.

Later today we leave for our last little summertime adventure. We’re going to Nashville to see Sister and her hubby, plus (hopefully) spend a little time with some of our buddies who live there. I am BEYOND EXCITED about our dinner and entertainment plans tonight, and then Sister and I have a day-o-shopping lined up tomorrow. Consider yourselves warned, Nashville-area Steinmart(s).

Anyway, I’m feeling renewed and refreshed after all this time at home. Plus, it’s given me the opportunity to do some Deeply Analytical Thinking about Critical Issues. You know, things like “Why is Popeye’s so much better than KFC?” and “Why do so many of the girls singing country music right now have blonde hair?” and “If Dave Barnes and David Crowder Band were playing in my town on the exact same date at the exact same time, HOW COULD I POSSIBLY CHOOSE?”

So as you can see I’ve been very, very busy.

Thanks for hanging with me during the downtime, internets.

I heart you more than you know.

Have you tried Church’s fried chickens? I think I may have to do a Church’s versus Popeye’s Chicken Smackdown Taste Test in my own kitchen when I get back home…

Bojangle’s…do you have Bojangle’s? I could eat some Bojangle’s chicken at any hour…oh and the spicey fries…and a cheese biscuit. Thanks so much. Now I must put some chicken on my thighs today…and soon!

Your summer sounds like our winter. In January I hardly ever go anywhere because it’s just too cold and it’s just too much trouble.

Have a fun weekend!

If you ever find yourself in the OKC area, you need to try Eischens in Okarche. Hands down, best fried chicken ever. Sorry Mom.

You better get yourselves to the Loveless Cafe while you are there b/c oh my word do they have the most delightful food on the face of the planet! Their biscuits and jam are to die for – seriously!

We just visited friends there last week and I dedicated a whole blog entry to that place – yum!

Have a great trip!

LOVELESS CAFE.

yes! I second that!
Ate there a few weeks ago when we were staying in Franklin, TN. You HAVE to go there. It’s an area staple.
and The Biscuit Lady — oh my.
She makes good biscuits.
She was on that show on the food channel one time where that guy (forget his name) shows up to challenge her on biscuit making.
The walls of the place are lined with autographed pictures of every manor of celebrity (old and new!) who’ve eaten there.
Good Food.
I think they have fried chicken too — worth a try! :)

Enjoy your vacation!

A little down time is always refreshing. And we just had the conversation in our house last week about all the blonde country singers.

Enjoy your time with your sister!

Popeye’s is better than KFC? I’ve never had Popeye’s, but there’s one across town (KFC is just around the corner). Interesting tidbit of info!
I love those days when you get to stay in your pj’s all day! I haven’t been out of my house in 2 days either! :D

If you run out of places to shop in Nashville haha…drive on up to Hendersonville and check out some of the great little shops that we have here. The French Shoppe, Patricia Janes, Over the Top, Trendy Trunk just to name a few. Also, a place called the Itty Bitty Sandwich Shop on Main St is a to die for place for lunch. They have the most awesome pimento cheese (and I don’t even live pimento cheese) sandwiches. Served on homemade rolls, delicious pasta salad and a 3 berry cobbler that will make you cry it is so good. Have fun!

None of us are going anywhere. Personally, I think it’s refreshing to see The Big Ones in the blog world take a breather during the summer months. It helps everyone in the pond keep their priorities straight.

Enjoy your time away!

We think the Steinmart(s) are closing. We were in one down in Peachtree City over the weekend and the clerks were overheard say they were going to ship all the merchandise out to an outlet type store. The one in Gwinette County area has already closed. I hope Martha’s doesn’t close, she’ll be in shock!

Downtime is good. VERY good. Only about a week before I’ll be taking some, ahem, major downtime when a Very Exciting Event takes place. Counting the days…

Enjoy being with Sister. Tell her the internets say hi. :)

You sound RENEWED – well that and a tad stir crazy. May the Big City and multiple Steinmarts give you new adventures and retail with heavy discounts happinesses. Crunchy spicy friedness in chicken is a very GOOD thing – I make mine at home but I’m sure you’ll choose wisely.

Glad you are back, we missed you.

Have fun in N’ville, wave to Dolly, Tim & Faith, and look out for Loretta, hehe.

Mentioned you over at my blog after my “mommy identity crisis” lifted.

Um, you will need more downtime after your trip, go ahead and plan it!

DO wave as you come up 65, won’t you? We are having tax-free weekend (woot!) and the Sommet Center is having some Back-to-School event that is supposed to rock. Giving out backpacks, supplies, and whathaveyou.

Most of all, have a rockin’ good time with the family. And the best fried chicken? Publix. No lie. And they make it to order. :)

Maybe you are going to make it this weekend in your down time…I mean since you will probably visit with Fry Daddy…well, just wanted to let you know that I AM WAITING :) Ok, I lied…I have another question…Will we not see you in SA this month????? Isn’t that your last getaway????

We had the exact.same.type.of.day.here. Yesterday I picked up my campers from Bible camp, and DD is going to GS camp on Sunday, so I thought a pajammy day was just what the doctor ordered. For them, of course. ;) I would’ve been fine flitting around, but I took one for the team.

Have so much fun Steinmarting! It’s a verb, now. Don’t you love how dynamic the English language is?
