I’ve posted this before, but for the last few days I haven’t been able to get it out of my head or off of my heart. For all sorts of reasons.

“I Saw What I Saw” – Sara Groves

Please continue to pray for our friends in the Dominican Republic.

Sara Groves is, and always will be, my BFF.

In my imagination, of course.

I’m reading Tom Davis’ book on Africa these days (Red Letters). The state of that continent is just shocking, and I find myself asking this week…”I wonder what our new president is going to do about the African crisis?”

Africa has been in my heart for a while; I’m just waiting for the day I’ll pick up and go.

Thanks so much for this post and this video. It is a lot to take in. We have been thinking about sponsoring a child through Compassion for awhile now, and that’s what we’re going to do.

Thank you for posting that again–I missed it last time. Beautiful. I called my two boys in to watch it with me as well.

My Chris had an idea…I don’t know if you’d like to use it. But he suggested taking an item that we all would like–a jacket for instance…and then show pictures of how many kids could be sponsored for a month for the cost of the jacket. You could even do the linky thing to sponsor real kids.

Like for the cookbook, he suggested that I put up a face of a child for each cookbook sold, which provided water for life for that child. So I would be putting up about 500 pictures of kids, who now have water for life.

Anyway, I liked Chris’ idea. And I could totally see you doing a neat thing with it. Your call, friend.

PRAYING for you. It’s been a hard day for me, so I’m thinking there must be some kind of oppression going on…and I have been praying like mad.

I am speechless. I can’t wait for the day that we take our 4 children to Africa, not only to see their roots, but I have a feeling we would end up with a bigger family. I just can’t stand that so many beautiful souls are suffering. Come, Lord Jesus.

I love that video and Sara Groves music in general. The church I have been visiting goes to the DR each year, and they sent a medical team there this year as well. Since about 1999 I have dreamed of adopting a boy from Haiti. But the DR is so close. It would do. Thank you for posting.

Thanks for sharing! I think we all need to put things in perspective and be grateful for the blessings we have here in America!

Beautiful and touching! I love Sara Groves’ music.

I’m guessing you are familiar with this song, since we have the same taste in music, but look up Dave Barnes’ “10000 Children.” You’ll love it!

BooMama- thanks for the link – I love Sara Groves music, but haven’t looked for anything new for a while. My experience was in Jamaican mountains, but the children and poverty there look a lot like Rwanda. Thank you for sharing, tears are coming, and I can’t wait to go back to the children, and do what I can.

Oh my — I had not ever seen that. She couldn’t have said a truer thing.

I’m missing my kids in the Dominican Republic.
