A Giveaway For The Little Ones

by BooMama on 21 November 2008

in There's More!

We don’t do a lot of toy-buying in our house. I won’t bore you with the reasons why, but suffice it to say that new toys are big-deal, must-be-a-birthday-or-Christmas special events. We don’t get new toys because it’s Tuesday and we happen to be at Target and LOOK! STAR WARS ACTION FIGURES!

So while I’m probably not a toy expert, I do put a lot of thought into which toys actually make it into our playroom. This little computer, for instance, is probably the best $20 I ever spent on a toy. EVER. And even better? Our boy learned a whole bunch from playing with that little VTech laptop. As a result, we’re VTech fans.

And that is why I’m tickled to be able to give away a pretty FAYNCEE (by my standards, at least) kids’ toy: VTech’s KidiArt Studio. KidiArt Studio hooks up to your computer (PC only) or your television, and your kids can create works of art that show up on the “big screen.” You can even save their masterpieces to your computer and email those sweet creations to grandparents. The KidiArt Studio comes complete with a little low-res digital camera and – here’s the great part for moms of little boys who might not love refining those small motor skills – a digital “pencil” that enables kids to write and draw all the live-long day.

One word to the wise: KidiArt Studio requires 8 (EIGHT!) AA batteries, and they’re not included. I think a power cord would be an excellent addition to this toy, but nobody asked me, so I’ll just smile and continue to be delighted that one of your cute kids is going to get a free toy, amen.

If you’d like to win VTech’s KidiArt Studio, just leave a comment and tell me so. Because of shipping costs (it’s a big toy in a big box), this giveaway is restricted to folks who have a mailing address in the continental United States.

I’m so sorry, Canada. Please know that I still love you deeply.

Comments will remain open until Wednesday, November 26th, at which point I’ll pick a winner with random.org.

Thanks for playing, everybody!

My girls love anything to do with crafts and art projects.

Carrie November 21, 2008 at 4:26 pm

My son’s teacher was just talking about this program! My son LOVES art, but is a little bit intimidated by the computer. She recommended we try it out to combine his love with his fear. We would LOVE it!

The (Almost) Amazing Mammarino November 21, 2008 at 4:27 pm

Thanks for the toy tips! I just might get the VTech computer for Screech.

Would love to win this, I know just the three little kiddo’s I would give this to for Christmas, and I wouldn’t even mind buying them a cart full of batteries so that their mom could maybe have a moment of peace. Thanks.

Amy November 21, 2008 at 5:01 pm

Wow! Sounds like a great toy! Thank you for hosting this giveaway. :)

Mary Lou November 21, 2008 at 5:01 pm

This would be great for my step grandchildren. My granddaughter would love it too, but this would be great for the others…even the eleven year old. Plus my two grandsons could play on it….they would all benefit from this. Sure would be wonderful if the “thingy” picked my number. You rock Sophie…thanks for all you do for the rest of us…Blessings

Tracye November 21, 2008 at 5:02 pm

My daughter loves anything to do with art, so I know she’d love this!

Please, oh, please, oh, please pick me!

P.S. We don’t buy toys, either, just because it’s Tuesday and we happen to be at Target and LOOK! BARBIE MARIPOSA!

My girl’s best friend gets new toys almost daily (no exaggeration!) and I sometimes feel like the Grinch.

Gerry November 21, 2008 at 5:04 pm

This looks like the perfect thing to entertain my granddaughters when they are at my house.

Shawna November 21, 2008 at 5:05 pm

This looks amazing.

I remember you recommending that little laptop a jillion moons ago. At the time, I could not find it in stores, then forgot about it. It’s good to know that you (and your son) still like it. I’m thinking I need to check it out.

Kelly November 21, 2008 at 5:09 pm

My daughter would love that. It would also save my walls and sofas from pen marks.

Prairie Rose November 21, 2008 at 5:09 pm

I’m not usually into electronic toys — OR giveaways — but I happen to know a six year old Little Girl who would have a blast with this one. :)

faith November 21, 2008 at 5:11 pm

PaulaW November 21, 2008 at 5:13 pm

This looks great! Since I dont have grands yet (unless you count canines) my daughter’s best friend has a little boy this would be perfect for. This would totally make his Christmas since they are living with his mom’s grandmom and struggling to make ends meet.

I do not want this for a child, I want it for ME!

Not really, but I wish we’d had these when I was a kid. Right up my tree.

I’ve got four grandgirls and they would ALL love to play with something like this. What a great learning toy to keep at my house for visits!

Jen November 21, 2008 at 5:30 pm

Yes. I would love to win it! It would be for my nephew, who’s now old enough to appreciate this sort of thing and to remember who gave it to him :) Thanks!

Christine November 21, 2008 at 5:32 pm

I absolutely adore that VTech kiddie laptop! You’re absolutely right – the BEST $19.97 The Big Red Bullseye ever got from me! Ours has been played with to near-death – the little mouse doesn’t work, but the girlies still play with it weekly and I don’t have the heart to get rid of it. I’m thinking it’s time to get one that actually works so little sissy can benefit from it like big sister did! But an art studio…way cool!

Erin November 21, 2008 at 5:32 pm

Looks like so much fun! I hope I win!

Oh, and I thought of your blog last night because my son had on his new socks and proceeded to tell me that he “liked these socks. They’re fancy socks.” I immediately thought of your post where your son says he has a “fancy” new light saber!

Candace (Mama Mia) November 21, 2008 at 5:33 pm

My kids would love that!! You’re right on about the little computer. My son (5) got one last Christmas and he still plays with it a lot.

Mary B November 21, 2008 at 5:34 pm

I just saw that at Target the other day. Looked like something my daughter would love.
I totally agree on the toys, we don’t do a whole lot around here either.

Lydia November 21, 2008 at 5:36 pm

My 3 year old boy would love this! He’s very into art and drawing right now and he’s obsessed with the computer. I’m having a hard time finding age appropriate things for him to do on the computer in order to encourage his desire to learn more. It’s hard to find things like this for a 3 year old! Thanks for sharing! Maybe I’ll win this, but otherwise, I’ll be on the lookout for it in stores as a possible Christmas present.

MemeGRL November 21, 2008 at 5:38 pm

Wow…I have one guy who loves to draw, one who won’t touch anything that makes marks on paper, but two boys who love a compute. That would be so fun!

Alaina November 21, 2008 at 5:41 pm

What a great giveaway! Thanks for the chance.

Shelley November 21, 2008 at 5:42 pm

This would be so fun to win! My son would love this.

Carrie November 21, 2008 at 5:45 pm

Giveaways are so great! I love reading your blog, though I have actually only commented maybe once before. We are practically neighbors (I’m in N. Georgia) and your stories about the Wal-Mats and Steinmarts crack me up! I have three little ones who would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this! Thanks for the chance to win one!

danana banana November 21, 2008 at 5:46 pm

My almost-4-year-old would love that! What a great way to save & show off her creations.

Carrie November 21, 2008 at 5:46 pm

That would be Wal-Marts in my comment above, though here in Georgia, you never know…. ;-)

Connie November 21, 2008 at 5:47 pm

Thanks for the chance to win one of those. Looks fantastic and I know just the little person who would enjoy it!!!!

Carissa November 21, 2008 at 5:48 pm
