I Would Like A Cow Butter Sculpture Of A Cat

December 7, 2008

So we’ve been out of town for a few days and are just now playing catch-up on the ole DVR, so I recognize that this Office post may be a little too late to be considered relevant.

But that’s never stopped me before, now has it?

And in the latest episode, a $4300 surplus produces all manner of wacky hijinks, including but not limited to a scheming, manipulative Pam (in my opinion, she wasn’t very Pammian) and some good ole boy behavior on the part of Jim and Oscar.

Truth be told, this one wasn’t my favorite (whenever characters act out of character – HELLO, PAM – I get thrown off a bit), but I did chuckle a time or eight:

1. “YOU are the silent killer.”

2. “I’ve swallowed all your ideas; I’m going to digest them and then see what comes out the other end.”

3. Pam: “It is SO ON.”

4. Jim: “Michael? HEEEEEEEEEY!”

5. Stanley: “There he is. There HE is.”

6. “Being here with you – and the German Mennonite minister – somehow it just all felt right.”

7. “I hate disappointing one person…but I love Burlington Coat Factory.”

8. “Now. I’m going to tend to a legal issue.”

9. “Hello, Tamequa.” (That’s from 30 Rock instead of The Office, but SWEET MERCY Kenneth makes me laugh.)

10. “I want to go to there.” (Okay. Again, 30 Rock. I do apologize. But it makes me laugh a lot lately.)

So what did y’all think?

I thought it was funny. It was kind of like Michael’s dream day. Everyone wanted to be his friend and he even had a glimpse of good management by making them decide how to spend the money.

I loved when Oscar asked Michael if he knew about the bonus. Oscar is getting bolder this season! And then how Kevin thought that Michael was good at math.
And, that Oscar gave the great analogy for a 5 year old.
I’m still giggling about the episode.

For some reason, “Never pay for a fur coat with a credit card until you’re SURE you have the money” made me laugh really hard. Not as hard as “You are the silent killer” though.

I have now seen my first episode of The Office…

It wasn’t this one you’re posting about.
It was actually on a Delta plane coming home from Hawaii. They were playing The Office on the plane’s movie screens! I was so tickled to get to sit there and watch it with my little earphones in, having only heard about it here on your blog a time or eight (sorry to use your words).

Very funny. It was the episode where they were on a dinner cruise and the one guy liked the one girl but she was engaged to the other guy. And the bossman just could NOT let the ship’s captain be in charge. Not sure how recent that show was, but it was very funny.

I just can’t believe it took flying to Hawaii and back for me to see my first episode.

PS I think combining 30 Rock with The Office post should be a regular feature. Sweet land, that show is funny.

My favorite part was when Michael sat in Pam’s chair and slowly sank down, then said it was “erkelomically correct.” Also, we were crying watching 30 Rock. It was so stinking funny that night.

Number 7? My mom and I could not stop laughing! And then we saw a commercial for Burlington Coat Factory, and the laughing started all over again!

I just couldn’t get over that Dwight had the gawl to do what he did?! Seriously. Poor Andy…

    “I’m totally kidding.”

    “I need four.”

“What is *that* doing in the kitchen?!?”

All I have to say is that I’ve started recording “30 Rock” after “The Office” every week, and I have found that I laugh MUCH longer and harder at “30 Rock.” You may have to start doing “30 Rock” recaps instead of “office” recaps. I’m just sayin’ . . .

“I want to go to there” came up quite often in our house this weekend! Love it!

    Heather Says:

I to agree that this episode was not the best one of the season. On the bright side at least they still have a bunch of good one liners!

  16. 16
    Johna Says:

OK, The Office this week, “eh” – 30 Rock this week “hysterical”. Man I love me some Kenneth.

    Michelle Says:

love your re-caps! on the office, i was so shocked by angela’s forward behavior that i squealed. but i was pulling for the copier team.

i am also a recent 30 rock fan, and i loved this episode. though i think if it were just liz, jack, and kenneth, i would like it even more.

    thanks, boomama!

Michael: “With $675 at Burlington Coat Factory you’re like a king!”

And when Andy steps in the poop IN THE KITCHEN I thought I was doing to do a spit take!

But you know, it just doesn’t make since to have a cow butter sculpture of a cat!

…I thought it was funny :)

Thanks for including some 30 Rock, girl. :)

    Holly @ Crownlaiddown Says:

We laughed the hardest and rewound Andy stepping in the cow pie in the kitchen–his expression cracked us up!

And yes, Pam? She was like the mean girls in jr. high. Yuk.

  22. 22
    lynn Says:

Oh – Pam’s “it is SO ON!” Made me laugh out loud. And Michael in the end sitting in a fur coat with fake blood – hysterical!

    rirwindow Says:

Andy: Why is that in the kitchen???!!!

    Andy: What is that smell?
Dwight: You’re gonna need to be more specific.

    Old-School Office right there.

  24. 24
    Christy Says:

Did you see Michael dumping sugar in his diet soda? That was my favorite part of this episode! Too funny!!!

    Superchikk Says:

I loved this episode, though I didn’t really care for Pam’s game. But she was having to rise to the level of the boys, so I have to cut her a little slack.

The $645, Burlington Coat Factory line was great. But I think my favorites were, “urklenomically” and, “What’s this doing in here?”

  26. 26
    Rutheee Says:

Well to be fair, when I needed a new office chair I stepped outside of my character too. I thought it was quite realistic and this is the kind of Pam and Jim not agreeing that I can handle.

  27. 27
    fullheartandhands mama Says:

It was actually my favorite Office in a while. I loved Pam making the copies and saying it worked just fine while holding up her crooked copies and tattered original.

I have been saying, “I want to go to there” as often as possible this week. That absolutely cracked me up!

My favorite part of the office was at the end when Jim asked Pam to make copies…classic.

    Angela Says:

You’re right about Pam not being totally Pam-ish. And I used to abhor Andy, but I’m feeling pretty sorry for the guy now. The barn was beautiful all set for the wedding.

“It’s not my fault you don’t understand German; I’ve been telling you to take it for years!”
