in Faith

Last night our pastor finished a sermon series on the book of Ruth that has crawled all up in my head and my heart and pretty much left me in a fresh state of awe and wonder.

Except that I’m going to have to listen to yesterday’s sermon again because I spent the better part of last night’s service dealing with a six year-old who would not stop 1) looking at the clock on the back wall 2) using his flip-flops as action figures 3) leaning over to me and whispering, “THIS IS THE BORING-EST THING I EVER HEARD!”

The parenting, it is humbling. I’m just sayin’.

So anyway. The series.

Love Story

I hope you get to watch or listen – these messages will bless your heart.

Hope y’all are having a great Monday!

This morning my son told me on the way to VBS drop off that VBS was like a fish f.. is there a nice was to say passing gas? I have no idea where in the world he got that lovely phrase, but the pride was welling up inside me as I threatened him to behave at VBS because Mommy has spies at VBS. A nine year old with attitude. Lovely!

The series sounds wonderful. The boy? Sounds like he and my boy were separated at birth. There is little joy in the sermon for me now; I spend far too much time glaring and barely showing my teeth in an ill-concealed snarl to be able to really open my heart to a warm and fuzzy message. I’m thinking there needs to be a boot camp church for boys….

Yea, I’ve been listening to the songs all day and crying all over myself. My children are terrified.

I just realized we go to the same church! I missed the last two Sundays but I can’t wait to catch up. I was worshipping at the Brooklyn Tabernacle two Sundays ago. It was amazing!

If it’s possible to give a great big “YES, PLEASE LISTEN TO THIS SERIES AS BOO HAS SO DELIGHTFULLY SUGGESTED” via comments, then I will do just that. It was an amazing series and the D Platt BROUGHT it.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE your pastor! I can’t wait to see what God has in store for him and his family in the years to come. God has poured a bucket of anointed oil on that head!

Hey Sophie,

I just blogged yesterday about taking kids to church with us. And listed some AMAZING resources. Sounds like you might be in that place where you just might wanna read one! Super helpful and real.

I LOVE this. I’m glad I got to be there in person for the conclusion!

(p.s. Glad to know you had a great time at the beach – wish I could’ve seen you whilst in the Ham this weekend!)

The first time we visited this church was the beginning of this series and I cried from start to finish – it has been so amazing and powerful. This pastor is on fire and the passion that he has makes me sit in awe every second he speaks. In 4 short weeks I feel a change in my life. We moved to the area in December and finally feel as if we have found our church home.

And seriously, Mandi singing at the end gives me goosebumps, that girl is amazing, incredible, divine!!!

Just listened to week one, awesome! I am a mother-in-law and this relationship has been a very rocky one and right now, my son hasen’t spoken to me in weeks, have not seen him or his family in months and it is breaking my heart, but….Praise God, His word touched my heart. Thank you for sharing. Will listen to the rest of the sermons for sure.
He is Good,
Cathy

You go to the same church that my best friend Ashley goes to. I’ve been to your church a few times when I’m up visiting her and I love David. He has such a tender heart for the Lord; he’s awesome!

Deep, tender, powerful. The first message dug deep. I’m sure mining the last three will produce a treasure trove of gold wisdom and a different relationship with God. Thanks for sharing this on you blog.
