Oh I can relate. My oldest is 6 too and going to Kindergarten tomorrow.

don’t they just crack you up?

My eight year old came out of his room the other morning already dressed. He said, “mom, when you get back from driving daddy, can I go out to play? I have motorcycle club at 8.”

motorcycle club? turns out he and his friends put playing cards in the spokes of their bike wheels ( how old school!) and made them sound like they have motors. The best part was that when I went out to check on him they were having “craft time”. LOVE it.

I agree. Six rocks.

Old enough to say the cutest things, but still young enough to mispronounce them.

:)

oh that is just the best age 5/6…they say the cutest things. I taught kindergarten for a few years…I loved it.

When my youngest was 5 she prayed one nite…Thank you God for my strong healthy body. Cuz without it I’d just be a head.

She’s 19 now. Sigh.

I asked my fifteen-year-old the other day if he would do me a favor and be six again. Just for a day or two. He gave me a noogie.

I love it when my kids say precious things too! You are so wise to record it. Believe me, you WILL forget some of the cute things they do and say. Or in my case, you can’t remember which precious kid said or did the cute thing!

“Girls should never say that boys are cute. They should say that boys are handsome. Or awesome.”

—sounds like something his daddy may have taught him! At least, it sounds like something that my husband has taught our boys! :)

Six IS fun, isn’t it?! We’re headin’ out of 6 and into 7 next week. My next little fruitloop turns 6 in 6 months.

Your boy is a doll :)

I love six! And 16 and pretty much everything in between. And now that my oldest is on the brink of 23, I’m kinding loving that adult child thing.

There’s just so much fun in raising little people…. sure it wears on the heart at times and it wears on the nerves at times, but overall it’s a blessing beyond compare!

And I’m adopting Picklenuts as my new word! Love it.

can’t believe you’re raising a good southern boy who’s not a fan of corn… that’s almost a sin down south! :)

He says the funniest things!
My little guy asked the other night, “Mommy, what’s my teacher’s name again?” I told him, “Mrs. M, remember?” He said, “Oh, yeah, that’s right, she’s really nice.” I think it’s going to be a great year!

Picklenuts?!

My Audrey (11) says something similar…”Shoot a pickle!”

Now why you’d want to shoot a perfectly good pickle is beyond me. And for the life of me, I don’t understand why she doesn’t just say “Oh dear Gussie” like the rest of the family.

Oh he is too cute, he reminds me of my baby brother who is 13. He still calls me sissy but I’m not supposed to say that in front of his friends. Have a happy weekend!!

He is soooo cute and I love the innocence of this age! Keep a compilation of Alex’s “sayings” to savor many years from now. You won’t be sorry, trust me! Really, How do you keep from just chewing on him??? Sophie, you are a blessed Mama!

That has got to be the sweetest little boy EVER!

Love the last one. My six-year-old told me recently that he “isn’t a fan of the french fry”. Alrighty then. I wish I wasn’t a fan of the french fry!

I think ‘picklenuts’ will have to be my new swear word. Not that I do it much. But when I do I now have baby ears that hear me … so … PICKLENUTS!

I think 4,5,7,8, and 9 all rock too! And by the way I don’t have kids all those ages. Just a 4 and 9 yr old. But I always say I think this is my favorite age and then the next one comes along and I say I think it is my favorite age.

Tracey August 14, 2009 at 8:49 pm

I can totally hear you in him BooMama! What a sweet boy.

My oldest boy is 6, and you’re right: they’re stinkin’ hilarious! What I really love/hate is the fact that he doesn’t want to play with the “little kids” at birthday parties but wants to hang out with the grown men who play pool (billiards). He’s simply too grown up for the “littles.” But the next minute he’s playing with the two year old and HIS toys!!

I just want you to know that my sons are in complete agreement with your boy about girls calling boys cute. :) I was reading your blog to my hubby and my boys didn’t really get why that was funny. They just thought it was true.

Love the list. . .but not a fan of CORN???? Seriously? The boy that held a corn pep-rally in the frozen food aisle not long ago?
