After seeing the movie I simply HAD to make the bruschetta.....I "fried" the bread on both sides in butter (of course) then rubbed it with a little garlic. Topped it all off with chopped ripe tomatoes, sweet onion, cilantro and parsley. YUM!!!

I, too, developed a craving for the bruschetta in J&J, so I googled it. "Julie and Julia's bruschetta" It's in my favorites-- one day it'll be made!

as soon as we saw it, i went straight to the publix and bought tomatoes and garlic and french bread and then went home and turned out the best bruschetta ever. basically, you chop up as many colors of tomatoes as you can find. chop up some basil and throw it in there with them. salt and pepper the whole thing. then saute three or four minced cloves of garlic in a teaspoon of evoo, let them cool a little while, then throw them in with the tomatoes. cut the french bread on an angle and then saute the bread with a pat of butter and a drizzle of oil (saute both sides for extra yumminess). serve the bowl of tomato goodness on the table with the bread on the side - it gets soggy quick.

Oh, girl. I have had a love affair with Julia Child ever since I can remember. I absolutley LOVED Julie & Julia. It could have been completely about Julia Child though and I would have been over the moon because Meryl Streep was just...well...fabulous!! The bruschetta in the beginning made my tasted buds absolutely TINGLE!! After the movie I went to the store and bought French baguette, basil, tomatos, etc.. (a good base for any bruschetta) and then turned around Saturday morning and proceeded to break my ankle. Not even kidding.

It's been over a week now and I still haven't had bruschetta and the basil and tomatoes...well..died. Now I just sit and watch Paula Deen make things like Peanut Butter Cups in a Blanket. Seriously. So make some bruschetta and take pictures. For me. :)
