Alabammy Sleddin’

They say that necessity is the mother of invention.

But I think maybe it’s desperation.

Bless their little snow-deprived hearts.

Mississippi sledding is pretty similar to that! We live in south MS and NEVER see snow…but we did today! My boys used boogie boards that we use in the pool, and my mom has a huge stainless steel bowl that makes a pretty good sled too:)

We had snow in Texas and my men children did not even know how to make a snow ball. Bless their little hearts!

Looks like…and SOUNDS like fun!
SIGH…. We have had liquid snow all day…rain. :-( I’m in the mood for snow…at least for a day or two.

After weeks of rain it’s finally snowing here now! (And our weathermen predicted it. Imagine that!)We use cardboard or trash can lids here.

Laundry baskets work well. So do cookie sheets and cardboard boxes (but they get soggy). I may or may not have sledded on a Trapper Keeper when I was a kid.

We have a red plastic sled that got to serve its God-given purpose today. Kids had a BALL. But mostly the little red sled is used for “sledding” on wet hills in the summer after it rains – or when we turn the sprinklers on because its 112 outside.

The sled was happy today. It loved the snow.

It’s funny how the snow is always whiter on the other side of the fence . . . Mason/Dixon Line?!?

Though we haven’t had much this year, here in Canada, we did get over 26 feet of snow one recent winter. It’s lovely to see them enjoying it so much!

Cookie sheets and cardboard boxes make great sleds – or I could send you a “real” one. :o)

Girl…my kids were doing the EXACT same thing last week when TN got our big “blizzard!”

There are NO sleds to be found here so I saw kids sledding on trashcan lids, boogie boards from their pool stash and large cookie sheets.

I think my favorite was the kid I saw going down a hill on a laundry basket!

However, that would never work at my house because they would be hard pressed to find an empty!

Have fun!

Blessings,
Dori

P.S. Come to Nashville again soon. I would LOVE to buy you lunch in Franklin!

What adorable squeals! We just moved from SoCal to Colorado last week and our boys are going crazy over the snow. Kids and snowballs are a sight of which I’ll never tire.

That is HYSTERICAL and ADORABLE.

We got six inches just east of Atlanta. That’s the highest total I’ve heard (in my travels around Twitter and Facebook). They weren’t forecasting this much snow, but it’s all good. :)

We googled ‘make do sled’ for Sarah’s kids since Texas got 10″ of snow and they suggested cookie sheets! She said it worked great for her kids, I’m thinking Texas sheet cake pan….

Hey, if you’re still looking for a hair person, I do have a great one I can recommend. I met her at the gym & we were friends before she started doing my hair. She is very near you at the RL Salon (behind that Perrins place on 280). Her name is Janice and I can give you her cell # if you’d like to try her out. She’s great! Just email me if you’d like the #.

I had the craziest dream about you, Boo Mama.

I dreamt you lived in Chicago…you had just moved here and hadn’t told anybody. I kept your son overnight for a sleepover and he loved our indoor pool. (That does not exist.) You wore a tee shirt that said “Boo Mama” and I kept wanting to tell everyone who you were, but you wouldn’t let me.

Oh, and you made me some fried chicken.

WEIRD!!!
