Booties, Booties, Booties

Okay. This isn’t really a post about booties.

But the title made me laugh, so I went with it.

Deep wells of maturity.

Several of y’all have asked if I’ll share the booties info that Melanie sent me. And yes, I’ll be happy to share, but I need to get all the links copied and pasted first. In the meantime, just know that I’m tickled to be able to encourage you (thanks to Mel) in your booties-related journeys. It warms my heart to know that my shoe struggle wasn’t just for me, my friends. It was for all of us. For the sake of our soles.

(I couldn’t resist the pun.)

(You’ll have to forgive me.)

(It was like a gift. Just sitting there for the taking.)

Anyway, I have some updates. And announcements. And stuff. And whathaveyou.

– There’s a new Laughing Cow $150 gift card giveaway that I just posted today. Feel free to hop on over and enter to win!

This post of Angie’s is a must-read. Absolutely beautiful.

– Shaun will be answering a bunch of questions about the Compassion Bloggers program over the next couple of days – including information about how bloggers are selected for trips, how effective the trips ultimately are, and all sorts of other fun stuff.

– You know how everybody was doing the choreographed dances at wedding receptions a few years ago?

Well, this video – from the wedding of Tony award-winning writer Lin-Manuel Miranda and his beautiful new bride, Vanessa – is a brilliant new twist on the reception surprise.

It makes me SO HAPPY.

They’re gonna have a blast at family get-togethers, aren’t they? (via Throwing Things)

Happy Friday, y’all!

And Go ‘Dogs!

  4. My wedding reception is next weekend. Watching this instantly made me say, “How can we do something like THAT?!?!”

  5. I can’t tell you how big that clip made me smile. Thank you for that Friday morning delight.

  6. love it! The bride should have done a rendition of “I feel pretty!”

  7. Makes me want to get married again. Almost.

  8. You’re telling me the ENTIRE bridal party planned that without her knowing? Or maybe she did know? Either way, WOW! I sat here with happy tears, watching that (and maybe, just a tiny bit, wishing my in-laws were a bit more musically inclined…)! Thanks for sharing. Totally made my morning! :)

  9. And never mind about that knowing part. I just read his blurb on YouTube. What a lovely gift. (And still – makes me so happy just to watch it!)

  10. I LOVED this video! It made my Friday!! Thank you. :)

  11. Thank you so much for posting that wedding surprise video–I needed the laugh. That was fabulous!

  12. Mary Kat's Mom says:

I LOVED THIS! ! ! Thank you so much! It was just precious! ! ! I wish I could find things like this all day long to make me this happy! I remember the couple that you posted that sang really well in their bathroom or bathtub or something! They were great and fully dressed. Happy Football!

  13. Completely different topic to comment on – but thank you for sharing the Guatemala compassion posts. It sent me to the website to write to my compassion “daughter”. Once I got there, I discovered I had a problem with my account. When I called Compassion, they said my girl had been removed from the program by her parents. I felt so sad. I do get the chance to write her a final letter, but I really want to thank you for sharing last week. Without that, I wouldn’t have gone to their website, and found this out. I’ve already accepted a new child there, but my little girl will always be in my heart and my prayers. Thanks for your posting when you went to Africa, that is when I started sponsoring Vanessa. Your open heart has reached from Africa to Indiana to Bolivia and beyond. Thanks!

  14. AH! He’s the “Silent E Is a Ninja” and other randomly annoying rap songs guy from “The Electric Company!” (Don’t ask how I know that.)

    5. ADORE THAT VIDEO. Thanks, it made my day. That could be MY family… We love Fiddler on the Roof so much and we were ready to put it on our own version when my cousin (the director) left to go be a missionary. I was slated to be Tevya and I still shock my kids now and then by singing, ‘If I were a rich man’ and giving it all I’ve got.

I think I will share this video on my blog and telling a few stories it reminded me of… Should go work on that!

    Love,

  16. That was one of the neatest things I’ve seen in a long, long time…thanks so much for sharing!

  17. As if “booties” were not bad enough, I just ran across the term … brace yourself… “shootie.”

Google it if you doubt me.

    Just shoot[ie] me now.

  18. That video is absolutely my love language. I love Fiddler on the Roof! And that song…awesome!! Good for the sole.

  19. Sorry about the Dogs Boo.

    Melissa in Baton Rouge.

  20. Oh, thank you for sharing that video! I usually don’t watch videos, but I just thought, it must be fun for Boo Mama to share it and I clicked, ah, I love it!!! Thank you!

  21. That was a lot of fun. :) Thanks for sharing it!

  22. Thanks so much for sharing! I saw “In the Heights” on Broadway a year or two ago with Lin-Manuel Miranda! It was awesome and so is this video! There’s some other good clips on YouTube of Lin-Manuel when he was much younger singing at home in front of his video camera. :) This guy had a dream!
And his acceptance speech at the Tony’s that year brought me to tears.
    Thanks again!

  23. i cannot tell you how great it is to pop over here and see my name mentioned in a bootie post. that actually happens quite a bit for reasons i will not mention here.

with that said, the term “stunt pillow” has gone through my mind at least 20 times in the past 2 days and i have no idea why other than that you have to be the most fun person i have ever shared coffee (and no food) with. i hope we get to do it again :)
