There Have Been Some Changes

So. Remember last week? When I uploaded a new WordPress theme and then had no idea what to do with it?

Well. Things are ever-so-much better now.

Thanks to Jules – who gave me my last blog makeover almost three years ago – the new Thesis theme is up and running. I think it’s safe to say that if Jules hadn’t come to my rescue, the new theme would’ve remained unused FOREVER. But now that it’s activiated, the blog is way more functional behind-the-scenes, and everything is so menu-driven that I don’t think I could blow up the blog if I tried. MY RELIEF, IT IS PALPABLE.

Anyway, everything that was here before is still around – it just may be in a different place. Hopefully the blog will load faster on your end, and hopefully it’ll also be a little easier on the eyes (bigger fonts FOR THE WIN). Right now I’m in the middle of the tweaking process, but OH HAVE MERCY the tweaking is so delightfully easy with this Thesis theme that I can hardly contain myself. I’ve been tinkering with it off and on all day, and it hasn’t stressed me out even once. I think you understand that THIS IS UNPRECEDENTED.

Okay. That’s it. Just wanted to post a quick update. I’ll be back soon with my thoughts on the Miss America pageant, Mississippi State basketball and a recent (unexpected) Hibachi experience. Though not necessarily in that order. And it might not be a bad idea to keep your definition of “soon” sort of open-ended. Because I’m not very strong with the planning.

Hope y’all are having a great weekend!

  1. Oooh, can’t wait to hear your thoughts on Miss America! I’m watching right now ;) As soon as I saw that it was on I had to come here to see if you were going to be discussing it. Your thoughts on pageants through the years left me in stitches last time!

  2. Oooh, a new layout. I like not having ads on both sides of your posts. It seems calmer over here.

  3. My older daughter and I texted each other throughout the pageant which was really fun. We both thought the girls seemed more real this year (for the most part). We were rooting for Oklahoma (we have no ties to OK, we just liked her and she was stunning!) but we thought the winner was adorable! And hey, she loves college football even if it is Big 10 : )

  4. I attended my first-ever Miss Fabulous Ridiculous Pageant last night. A bunch of gals from church, some in costume w/sashes and platforms, yummy food, and good-natured fun-poking at the real pageant. Can’t wait to hear your commentary!!

  5. I need someone to rescue my blog. It’s been sadly neglected. Since this is a 3 day weekend for us, I am having a GREAT weekend knowing I get to sleep in one more day :)

  6. Marianne G says:

Really like the new blog layout!

  7. It looks great! I hate feeling lost when I’m trying to fix something on my blog. It is no fun!

  8. Congrats! Nothing can be so stressful, or so fun, as blog changes. Or both completely stressful and fun all at once.

  9. I have seen this “menu” feature of which you speak, though I do not understand it. I too am afraid to alter the blog for fear of deleting the whole thing. What’s the short version? Just what is it and why do I want to use it? Do you think I ought to just invest a chunk of my time w/ the tutorials and whatnot? ugh

  10. I like the “new you”!

  11. I like this clean look! :)

  12. Looks lovely. All clean and streamlined and inviting. Great work from both you and Jules!

  13. Since you mentioned basketball… a few weeks ago I watched Tennessee dismantle the number 3 team in the nation with my Goddaughter and her mom. After the game, she looked sideways at me and said, “Uh, Annie, you may want to think about not watching games in public if that’s the way you act.” What??? You mean dribbling an imaginary ball 6″ off the ground and 6″ from the t.v. isn’t normal? You mean it’s NOT normal to need a spotter while watching an SEC basketball game? Fast forward to ESPN gameday yesterday vs. vandy. My cousin scored some sweet courtside seats and with two minutes to go in our comeback, my mom called screaming, “Is that YOU waving and jumping and carrying on? Is that YOU I see on the TV??? I DIDN’T KNOW YOU WERE GOING TO THE GAME!!!!” YES and I am sorry I have brought shame to the family name… and my sweet Goddaughter, Emiline. I wonder if she wants me to come to her basketball game this weekend? :) But clearly, my baby boys in orange needed me that day. Oh yes, they did. I’m thinking I should have stretched out before giving my all though.

  14. I have sooooooooooooooo been wanting to move to WordPress but I’m afraid! YIKES! Maybe, just maybe you’ve inspired me to give it a try! =)

  15. Looks great, easy to navigate, and my 40 year old eyes thank you for the bigger font. Now, if I can just move myself to WordPress where the grass is greener, I’ll finally be at bloggy peace.

  16. Sophie, I would love to bless you with my newly released bible study (Knowing God Through His Names) for you to review on your blog. If you would be willing to do so, email me at wwwgrowingodliness@live.com Look forward to hearing from you!
