Me Likey

I meant to post a link round-up yesterday afternoon, but I never got around to it because I decided to watch Thursday night’s “Survivor” episode all over again. I couldn’t help it. Alex was playing outside with a friend, the house was quiet – and I really, really need to hear what is sure to be my absolute, all-time favorite “Survivor” quote two or fourteen more times.

What is that quote, you ask? It’s from Phillip, who was acknowledging that voting off one particular tribe member would be bad for the tribe – and then:

“But is it in the interest of Phillip Shepherd and company, who came to play a game and make some bold moves?”

MAKE SOME BOLD MOVES.

Oh, I adore it. And Phillip, for the record, reminds me of Dragnet.

I KNOW.

All righty. Here are some links of note / interest / happy fun times.

– I totally related to Patricia’s Valentine’s Day post. It convicted me and made me smile and encouraged me.

– Another post about marriage that I loved? Lindsay’s take on True Love, Ten Years Later.

– Ladies and gentlemen, Casey Abrams.

There’s nothing slick or calculated about him – which is oh-so-refreshing. Not to mention that he’s crazy gifted. Just deeply, crazy gifted.

– My house is a wreck and in desperate need of a good scalding. This has nothing to do with links, but I just thought I’d share.

– Last night I watched an episode of Season 25: Oprah Behind the Scenes that focused on Oprah’s interview with President Bush. Several of the producers traveled to Kennebunkport for some pre-show interviews, and when they unexpectedly ran into President Bush 41 and President Bush 43 – well, the reaction of one of the producers made me smile way down deep in my heart. Very touching.

Happy weekend, everybody!

  1. My DVR has been on overload lately, and I’ve missed several episodes of AI. I feel like I’m cut off from the world! Thanks for sharing the video!

  2. I could watch Casey Abrams all day. LOVE the way he can’t help kicking his feet about while he sings. And it’s fun to see the reaction from the judges when they realize they’re watching a bred-in-the-bone musician.

  3. i love me Some caSey!

  4. Did I miss a Survivor post? I’m hoping your favorite quote was about the man-sweater!

  5. I’m a dunce — just saw the Shepherd quote. Between Boston Rob, Special Agent? Philip, and overall-wearing man-sweater guy, this is going to be an awesome season.

  6. What a beautiful performance by Casey Abrams! Is it just me, or does anyone else fear that there is going to be a scary turn of events that reveals Steven Tyler is really The Joker? Maybe it’s just me.

  7. The Casey Abrams link- made. my. day!!!!

  8. 1. I must comment to show that I will talk to you even if you are NOT giving anything away in this post.
    2. I realized my husband and I missed Survivor this week from your post and just watched it online. We are in for a GREAT season. Might have been the BEST first tribal council ever!
    3. This may be the most talented group of AI contestants ever.
    4. I am using ever too much. Sorry.
    5. I need to go to bed because I found myself crying with the Oprah producer. I was just so happy for him.

  9. I watched that same Oprah “behind the scenes”. I loved it, too!

  10. Casey Abrams – Wow! I’m from Georgia. That’s our official state song. I’ve never heard it sung like that before. Amazing!

  11. This entire post made me wish that I had woken up 45 minutes prior to my kids so I could have some actual quiet time in my house to check all these things out.

Instead I am looking at these links inbetween pouring juice, toasting waffles and breaking up fights.

It might take me until 10 pm, but I will check them out. Thanks for sharing!

  12. Mary Kat's Mom says:

Oh, Phillip! ! ! ! I was in stitches watching him at tribal trying to prounce Francesca’s name! ! ! “Franqueska” I had to watch it again the following night just to get a few giggles! ! ! ! This is going to be such a good season!
Your Dragnet link is priceless! ! 1

  13. I had to give up Oprah one day about 6 or 7 years ago when she had on a breast cancer survivor and never let her get a word in edgewise. I wanted to learn from the lady, not listen to Oprah spouting and interrupting. I can’t handle the ego! So I don’t watch anything Oprah nor read her mag. She has a lot of power and not all of it is used in good ways.

Casey! wow! just wow! I love they way they watch him, especially Steven. He’s just a hoot and it’s refreshing to have on actual musicians as judges. Ones who appreciate talent and recognize it when it hits them in the face.

Survivor! Holy smokes! What is up with the special agent? That dude is seriously freaky.

The opinions set forth are my own and totally not anyone else’s! lol

    Hugs from Minnesota
    Marie

And also crying with producer! Some things are just big. BIG THINGS.

  15. De-lurking to tell you that I enjoy you because:
    1) You watch all of the same shows I do and for the same reasons.
    2) You like food and cooking, especially Paula Deen!
    and
    3) Because you are southern and that is so darn charming!

  16. casey abrams?
