July 4th Linky Loo

Oh, this is an eclectic assortment. Please do enjoy.

– If you’ve ever wanted to show your kids what TV and movies were like in the good ole days, you can, thanks to an app (for iPhone or iPad) called the Video Time Machine. My husband told me about it last week, and not too long afterwards the little man said, “Mama? Was there a show called Battle of the Network Stars when you were little? And The Six Dollar Man? Big fun for only 99 cents.

– My friend Shaun is looking for some places to speak and sing in August. Even better? HE’S FREE. Here are the details. And also: Shaun has a new album called Third World Symphony. You can listen to the whole thing online.

– Giveaway round-up: 1) Purina ProPlan Selects ($100 Visa gift card) and 2) Lands’ End ($100 Lands’ End gift card).

– I love this story about a dad who made his son’s first year of high school oh-so-memorable. (link via Veronica)

– Let us pause and perhaps applaud when we consider the wonder that is the Mrs. Meyer’s rosemary-scented countertop spray. Glorious.

– One day last week D bought this book for our little guy. I know it probably sounds weird, but it’s been so fun to watch him read it. I have a feeling that it’s going to be dog-eared and well-worn within a matter of months.

Happy 4th of July!

  1. LOVE the Mrs. Meyer’s counter spray. I frequently spill things on my counter just to have an excuse to use it.

  2. Happy 4th to the best blogger I know…I mean read!
    Love that spray!!!
I also love 7th generation Lavender Floral/mint dish soap ~ have you tried?!
    The smell is divine!

  3. There are few books I delight so much in buying as 1) Far Side and 2) Calvin and Hobbes. My boys have read those over, and over, and over, and over. And now they quote them, which is simply too much fun.

  4. My girls have so enjoyed my husband’s Calvin and Hobbes books. I know your little man will, too!

  5. Also a fan of Mrs. Meyer’s= haven’t heard of the rosemary, though. Will have to look for that when mine is gone!

  6. Carol N. says:

I have the huge collection of all of the Calvin and Hobbes strips and books. Love going back and re-reading it even at my ripe old age and your son will grow to love it too.

  7. Happy 4th to you, too! I love the 4th of July!

  8. I mean really. How awesome was Battle of the Network Stars?

  9. I was thinking of “Battle of the Network Stars” the other day when “Wipeout” was on. My husband had never heard about it, but I used to love it. Wasn’t it just on a few times a year? I’ll have to look it up now!
