When I was but a spry young girl in my teens and early 20s, I didn’t pay a whole lot of attention to moisturizers. Honestly, I didn’t really understand why other people – like my mama and aunt, for example – couldn’t bear to leave the house without having lotion in their purse. I mainly just used lotion when I wanted to smell really good, and I was fine with whatever kind of soap happened to be handy. Easy-breezy skin care, it was.
And then I turned 30.
And when I turned 30, my skin revolted. All those years of not being terribly concerned with moisturizing my skin totally caught up with me. My face screamed for moisturizer the second I stepped out of the shower. My legs got all itchy if I didn’t put on plenty of lotion. I became one of those people who carried lotion in her purse, mainly because I got really serious about keeping my hands moisturized. My skin also got super-sensitive around this same time, so not just any old lotion would do.
You’re probably picking up on the fact that I got a little high maintenance as far as my skin was concerned.
Over the last ten years, I’ve figured out what works and what doesn’t for my skin. I’ve worn the same moisturizer on my face for the last fourteen years (I think that moisturizer and I are in it for the long haul). I need body washes that are hydrating – or else my skin feels super-dry when I get out of the shower. And as far as lotions are concerned, I’ve learned from my dermatologist that I need something a little thicker than what I used to use.
And here’s the biggie: if something has a super-sweet or super-heavy smell? Forget it. I can’t do it. I tend to like scents that are light and/or herb-y.
So given all of that, I was totally interested when bodycology asked if I’d like to try one of the new bodycology rich&creamy Body Wash and Lotion duos. I didn’t have any idea what to expect, but since I’m always on the look-out for a drugstore product that will give me great results, I couldn’t wait to try the bodycology stuff.

I tried the rich&creamy Hydrating duo. The Body Wash and Lotion both have aloe and vitamin E, and I thought they’d be a good match for my dry skin. The Body Wash is great; it has a scent that’s a little different than what I’m used to, but it’s not heavy and it doesn’t linger once you’re out of the shower. My favorite part of the Body Wash is that it’s thick enough to work almost like a shaving cream. In fact, I don’t have to use any shaving cream when I use the rich&creamy Hydrating Body Wash; I can just rub the Body Wash on my legs, shave, then rinse. I’m a fan of the fact that it saves me a step in the shower.
The Lotion definitely keeps my legs and arms moisturized, though it’s not as thick as the lotion that my dermatologist recommends. That’s not a bad thing, though, especially when you consider that it sometimes takes 10 minutes for my regular lotion to completely soak into my legs (it’s THICK). I like that the bodycology rich&creamy Hydrating Lotion gives me a good option for when I’m in a hurry – or for when the weather is warmer and I just don’t want to use something super-thick. Like the Body Wash, the scent is different than what I’m used to, but it’s light and clean and doesn’t smell like flowers – all very good things indeed.
The combination of the rich&creamy Body Wash and Lotion definitely left my skin feeling hydrated but not greasy. It’s great to know that there are some effective, affordable options out there, especially considering that the rich&creamy Hydrating duo actually works.
I’d definitely suggest checking out all the scents before you commit to one of them; a couple that I smelled in the store were too strong for my taste, but fortunately there are six different rich&creamy varieties, so it’s pretty easy to find one that will work for your individual taste.

I would have to go with the deep cleansing – I’m all about the squeaky clean.
I’m thinking nourishing…love shea butter!
I would prefer the hydrating lotion, too. It seems like my skin is dry no matter what I use.
Definitely the hydrating. I’d love to try the cucumber melon or refreshing cucumber scents. I’m not into the sweet stuff so those sound most appealing.
I have dry skin, so I would definitely have to go for the hydrating too, with the “sweet petals” fragrance.
I would have to go with the Refreshing with cucumber and green tea.
I like the skin softening the best. Anything with Avocado is worth a try!
Ultra rich :) Really any formula in the coconut lime scent. Cocout anything makes me feel summery.
Nourishing. Or maybe Hydrating. Or maybe I’ll try both and see which one I like best! :)
I love the body cream and the Coconut and lime scent and also the brown sugar and vanilla. I got the body softening crystals and they are amazing!!! Their scents are soft and subtle that las the whole day.
I definitely need nourishing. There is NO doubt about it.
i like shower gels, but all those flower smells would put me under. i’m intrigued with the body wash and what the silk and avocado oil could do for me – esp in the dry winter months.
Anything that says hydrating is for me!! I have extremly dry skin and my son has eczema so we are all about hydrating skin at my house!
The Brown Sugar Vanilla sounds awfully intriguing! And the Cucumber and Green Tee Refreshing Body Wash sounds yummy!
Advanced Healing to make up for all the time I have spent out in the sun.
I’m all about the hydrating too — I’ve always wondered if the humidity down in your neck of the woods helped with keeping your skin moisturized. Sounds like maybe not! Thanks for the chance to win. :)
I’m all about the nourishing! ! ! Sounds wonderful!
Can’t live without my lotion! The sweet petals is right down my alley too!
Oh hydrating! PLEASE! I completely understand about your skin revolting in your 30′s! Wowee!
I too would like the nourishing, because I’m all about the shea butter.
I need hydrating! I also thought the fresh cucumber hand sanitizer looked nice!
Love the vanilla and coconut fragrances and would use the skin softening formula. I use the hand soaps in both bathrooms. :0)
I’m a sucker for a declicious-smelling body wash. Hydrating in Clean Lemon for me!
I am currently on a quest for a body wash that is even a little hydrating. Clean Lemon sounds so refreshing too!
Hydrating, fo’ sho’!
I’d love to try the deep cleansing body wash–I love a citrus smell in the morning to help me wake up a bit more. And I hear you with needing lotion more as I’ve gotten older. In fact, just reading/typing about it is making me realize I need to get up and get more lotion for my hands!
I would pick the ultra rich one, although the one with avocado sounds great, too.
Like you, I have very dry skin and need something good, but would prefer something lighter in the summer!
I like avocados. I’m all in there.
Ultra Rich for me
coconut lime body lotion and body wash. I’ve tried it and liked it.
Ultra Rich and Coconut lime (which I just bought today before I read this post!!!
Your skin sounds a lot like mine. Rich and creamy would be good for me!
ooh the skin softening lotion looks amazing! and this mama to be can use all the extra healing/softening/loving her skin can get :)
I would start with nourishing but I just might have to try them all!
Hydrating. You think turning 30 did a number on your skin. Just wait.
Never heard of this brand so I’ll keep an eye out for it. I’d start with the avocado oil bc of the gerbera daisy on the bottle…not very scientific but it would make me smile every morning to see my favorite flower.
Hydrating sounds good for my dry flesh!!
Skin softening with silk and avocado oil would be my choice
I think the Hydrating one. It looks as if The Boss and I could both use it – him for the scent [I like it when he smells fresh ;-)] and me so my ankles will shut up and quit itching.
I also had to start worrying with lotions and such when I turned 30! I HAVE to lather up my hands before bed each night. It’s much worse in the winter, too. So, I’d prefer the hydrating body lotion with vitamin 3 and aloe. That’s not as thick as I’d need in the winter, but there’s something about aloe and summertime sun-kissed skin that just goes together!
I think I’d have to try the Refreshing line! And I’m with ya, hitting 30 totaly made my skin thrist for lotion! Thanks for the giveaway
My vote is for the Refreshing line !
The Island Coconut Hand and Body Lotion sounds wonderful!
Hydrating, no question– my skin won’t STAY moisturized. :-(
I need hydrating or nourishing! My skin is sooo dry. I love the sound of apple orchard, clean lemon, brown sugar vanilla and cucumber melon (all foods you notice)!
Would love to try the hydrating body wash.
I would have to go with anything and everything offered in the Island Coconut scent. I am a wee bit into the scent and taste of coconut and if you can make me smell like Hawaiian Tropic all day long, I am ALL over it. :)
I would like the ultra rich!
I like the hydrating. My skin tends to be dry, so I need something that delivers a lot of moisture.
I have to pick the hydrating lotion. This old skin of mine is getting really dry – especially in winter. Thanks for the giveaway!
