So this morning I was thinking about what a big week it is for Melanie and her book and everyone who’s going to get to read her book because it is hilarious. And touching. And fantastic.
And then I decided that I have some sort of codependent enthusiasm disorder that causes me to be over-the-top excited about something going on with a friend – to the point that other people might be tempted to ask me to HUSH IT, POR FAVOR.
Regardless, I am so proud of my sweet friend, and since I am in fact beside myself that her book releases this Friday, I thought it would be fun to do a little impromptu giveaway. I haven’t even told Melanie that I’m going to do this, primarily because she would try to talk me out of it.
TOO LATE FOR THAT, SISTER.
So here’s what I’m going to do. I’m giving away five copies of Melanie’s book, Sparkly Green Earrings: Catching the Light at Every Turn – but you only have until 5 o’clock central time on Tuesday to enter the giveaway. A little after 5 o’clock I’ll draw for five winners, and I’ll notify them by email ASAP. And if you’ve already ordered a copy of the book, feel free to enter and then give away your prize if you win. I’ll even have it shipped to someone else if you want. Just please make sure that your email address is accurate when you leave your comment since that’s the way that I’ll contact the winners.
So. If you’d like to enter, just leave a comment with your answer to this question: what’s your favorite song right now?
(I have no idea why I picked that question.)
(But let’s just run with it.)
Remember – you have to enter the giveaway by 5 o’clock central. PM, of course. Because if you think I’m going to wake up at 5 in the morning to moderate giveaway comments, then perhaps I should introduce myself.
Can’t wait to see who wins!
(Well, really you’re all winners.)
(At least that’s what pageant emcees say.)
(And you know what? I believe ‘em.)
This giveaway is now closed. Winners will be notified shortly!

I’ve been playing Angel From Montogomery a lot.
P.S. My birthday is Friday. Not to sway the judges or anything. And by judges I mean your random count generator. :)
My Hope is in You Lord by Aaron Shust
Cruise by Florida Georgia Line….love it!!
A classic: Holy, Holy, Holy — playing in muzak form at the Dr’s office this week receiving my breast cancer diagnosis. God is still good. Thanks to you and melanie for bringing laughter to my week.
I think my favorite song right now is the new Chris Tomlin song about the God of angel armies. I really don’t even know the actual title, I just know I find myself singing it a lot.
My favorite song right now is really just about anything by Madeleine Peyroux. I can’t get enough of her music!
Jesus, Friend of Sinners
Hard to pick a favorite cause what the kids are listening to these days? Meh. Give me “Livin’ On A Prayer” and call it even.
I got so excited about winning this book that I totally blanked on a current song! Eek! Gonna throw out Bryan Adam’s “Summer of 69″ because it’s a go to favorite! Alrighty, feelin kinda lame!! Anyhow, love your blog (and Melanie’s)! :)
Thank you for this giveaway 😊. I guess my favorite song is “this is the day”
I know I am not following the rules, but right now I have 2 favorites that I play constantly and they bring so much encouragement and peace to my soul.
Chris Tomlin’s “Whom Shall I Fear (God of Angel Armies) and Mercy Me’s “You Are I AM”.
I’m liking “oh, how He loves us”.
All the songs on ChrIs Tomlin’s new album!!
Whom shall I fear (God of Angel Armies) is my current fave!
10,000 reasons
loving Sovereign by Chris Tomlin right now …. so good.
Phillip Phillips “Home”
I have to say this isn’t totally accurate because my favorite song (or, well, favorite anything really) changes daily, if not hourly. But right now it’s Mac Powell’s “When Love Sees You” from The Story album. :)
I agree about Chris Tomlin’s Whom Shall I Fear. I frequently have it going through my head. I also like Don’t Give Up by Calling Glory.
10,000 Reasons by Matt Redman
Tough to pick one – You are More by 10th Ave North or Someone Worth Dying For by Mikeschair
Whom Shall I Fear by Chris Tomlin
It’s late and I cannot even think of any songs right now, but I do love anything by Selah.
There are lots, but at any given time I will stop what I’m doing to listen to anything from U2. I sat in my freezing cold car (heater was working hard) to listen to Where The Streets Have No Name just because it came on the radio…
I know this may come as a shock, but I don’t listen to a lot of music. Basically, when my daughter is in the car we listen to whats on her Ipod which involves a lot of Justin Beiber. But I would love to win a copy of Melanie’s book
I always love the song “Amazing Grace.” It’s timeless!
God of Angel Armies
(My oldest daughter just deployed. Yesterday. This song has great meaning especially now. The God of angel armies is sure to guard my girl and the Army National Guard, the 922nd. She has a three year old son. When I met you and Melanie several years ago at LPM New Orleans I told you about her being pregnant at 18. Just met you and already I spilled my soul. And here I am in your comments doing it all over again over the same daughter. Sorry. It’s raw. That song has been great comfort to me the past two days.)
RRG – praying for all your family, during the separation, and claiming your daughter and the 922nd’s safety and quick return home. thank you, all, for her service. it is a family sacrifice.
I so want to read this book! My favorite song right now is TobyMac’s Made For Me. Love it!
I sorta feel like I should choose some Chris Tomlin but honestly? I’ve been humming All the Single Ladies since last night’s Super Bowl. :)
haha! so have I!
“He reigns” by newsboys oldie but goodie!
Yay, Melanie!!!! I subscribe to a LOT of blogs, and you two are always the final two I read, saving the very best for last. Love both of your writing styles!
“I Will Rise” by Chris Tomlin is on my mind. I cannot WAIT to rise on eagle’s wings, leave this life of pain and sorrow, and go to heaven to be with Jesus and everyone else who’s gone ahead of us!
Not gonna lie, I’m pretty enamored with the little ditty my washing machine plays when it’s done. And my kids have us listening to the new Tim and the Space Cadets album nonstop (it’s so good!)
High Hope by Glen Hansard
Love him so much!
Currently, my favorite song is 10,000 Reasons!!!
I just love Jason Mraz’s I Won’t Give Up.
So excited for Melanie! And I suppose co-dependently for you!!
Add me to the list of people loving “Whom Shall I Fear.” Such a powerful song!
I can’t think of one right now (I know later tonight I’ll have several ones pop in my head!)…I’m going to have to go with “Proof Of Your Love” by For King and Country. I like their newest one about the orphans as well but don’t know the name of it!
All This Time by Britt Nicole is on my amazon wishlist =)
Clear the Stage by Jimmy Needham.
My favorite song changes so much, but for today’s workout, I was in a total Blink182 mood…Girl at the Rock Show, anyone?
I’m can’t wait to read this book!
The Perfect Space by the Avett Brothers has been my favorite song for quite a while now.
When the Stars Burn Down
I’m loving the Wicked soundtrack…weird I know!!! But I totally rock it out while cleaning the house :)
“Redeemed” by Big Daddy Weave
My favorite song right now is “worn” by 10th Ave North…so good!
At the moment, I’m liking “Home” by Phillip Phillips. I’m dying to read Melanie’s book, and yours as well.
God of angel armies, I am pretty sure that’s not the title, but I’m also pretty sure you know the one I mean! you brighten my day every time you wrtie, PLEASE keep writing!!
Be Thou My Vision – Selah
“don’t you worry child” by Swedish house mafia — actually a much nicer song than you’d think :)
I am loving anything by Mumford and Sons right now.
