But First, This.

Earlier today my little family and I got home from a great weekend in Dallas at dotMOM (Chattanooga, you’re next). We had such a good time except for a two-hour window on Friday morning when I had to ask my fellas to please leave the room for a little while because I was feeling overwhelmed by some pesky details that were making me want to close the drapes and crawl back in bed and pretend like my only responsibilities for the day were watching Bravo and eating bacon.

But alas, it all turned out just fine. dotMOM is such a laid-back, joyful event, and I was so happy to be there – even if the Dallas water and my hair didn’t like each other AT ALL.

Seriously. I will forever remember dotMOM Dallas as the time when I got me a word and a serious case of the flathead.

And even though this post is going to be short because I’m trying to watch the Oscars and type at the same time, I just want to document the fact that there’s one more thing that I’ll never forget about the weekend: sitting in the airport early this morning and seeing this week’s New York Times Best Sellers list for the first time.

As you can imagine, #27 just thrills me to pieces. I am OBNOXIOUSLY proud of Mrs. Big Mama (if you haven’t picked up on that already).

So anyway. Now I’m going to finish watching the Oscars (for the record, I have seen two movies this year – I am hardly up-to-speed on the nominees) and try to catch up on some sleep. But I’m happy to say that between the weekend and seeing Mel on that little list up there, my heart is oh-so-full.

Hope y’all had a great weekend!

p.s. Tonight’s awards have left me convinced that Hugh Jackman just might be the kindest, most gracious person in the whole world.

p.p.s. Daniel Day-Lewis may be the runner-up.

p.p.p.s. Adele’s hair is perfection.

p.p.p.p.s. I believe that is all.

I enjoyed dot mom so much this weekend. It was truly a blessing to be there. Feeling renewed and refreshed tonight. You and Melanie were great I really enjoyed it!

Yes, yes and yes.

I agree with your comments on Adele’s hair and the kindness of Hugh Jackman and Daniel Day Lewis. You, though, must get the award for most supportive and sweetest friend. I have enjoyed your enjoyment of Melanie’s success with her book and must say that a good and true friend is hard to find and you are surely that. God bless.

I’ve been reading Big Mama’s book — one chapter a night to make it last! — and cannot wait to get my hands on yours when it hits the bookstores! Congratulations to both of you! What a blessing that you two friends can share the experience of being authors of your first books!

We were channel surfing and happened to land on the Oscars just as Adele was walking to the stage to accept her award. She was emotional and seemed sincerely blessed and humbled. Love her hair and her voice! As she left the stage, we turned the channel.

Sophie, thank you, thank you, thank you for letting us know about the Chattanooga dotMom conference!!! I’m so excited about it and hope I can attend. No excuse really since I live here!

Will you or Melanie be in attendance?? I’m going either way but one of you or both of you would be the cherry on top!!

and it must be said…Hugh Jackman is also very easy to look at

I saw several updates about dotMOM throughout the weekend and am so happy for all the success! And as for Oscar, I say yay to Daniel Day Lewis for at least shaving off the Lincoln-esgue facial hair. What’s up with ALL those handsome men covering up the beautiful faces with this unkempt facial hair? Is this a result of the Duck Dynasty influence?? I’d rather see the dimples, not the coarse hair of their chinny chin chins.

I HATE that I didn’t get to go to dotMom and that I didn’t get to meet you and Melanie!!
Sigh. Another time, perhaps.

Told the hubby that Hugh seems to be so unfazed by it all. . .and I like that!
And Mr. Day Lewis acceptance speech was perfection.

And Mr. Clooney -NO ONE WANTS TO SEE YOU WITH A BEARD, quite covering your money maker :)

I’m with you on not being AT ALL up-to-speed on the nominees last night. I feel like I spent most of the ceremony googling movie & actor names to keep up. :)

Girl. I just hate that I wasn’t in Dallas with y’all…but it seems as if someone spoke a word over your hair, sounds like a wonderful time and Yes! On Melanie’s NYT best seller!

Hey Sophie! Remember me? The Houma girl with the late night inappropriate bathroom humor story? I told ya I would check out your blog! I heard you gave us a shout out at dotMom on Saturday morning, but I missed it :( I was still eating my omelet from that fabulous omelet bar where the chef called everyone princess and I wholeheartedly agreed with him every morning (That’s right mister! I am a princess of God!). The conference was absolutely fabulous! You and Melanie were great, the speakers were great (LOVED Angie Smith!), the breakout sessions were great! It was all just great! Can’t wait to attend again and get your book! I’m using your bookmark right now, smiling everytime I see your face :)
Much Love and As Always Laughter,

Sophie, you were great at the conference! And the videos you and Melanie did were the best. I hope they post them at some point because I want to see them again! Too funny. I was so hoping to meet you since I’ve loved reading your blog, but it didn’t work out. Maybe next time!
