Miss Mississippi Viewing Party – Just A Week Away

Well, I hope y’all had a delightful 4th of July. We ate some Mexican food and then lit some stuff on fire. It was very celebratory.

(I’m skipping the details about how my kitchen sink has been stopped up for two days and how we have tried every home remedy we know of and even a few we have discovered on the Internet.)

(But still: CLOGGED.)

(The plumber will be here in a little while.)

Earlier this morning it dawned on me that Miss Mississippi – which, if you ask me, is right up there with the 4th of July as far as national events are concerned – is next week, July 10-13. That means that the finals will be next Saturday night, June 13th, at 8pm central.

Last year we had all manner of technical difficulties with the Miss Mississippi live stream and had to call off the viewing party. I may have shed a tear or three – especially since our viewing parties for Miss Mississippi and Miss America are some of my favorite bloggy memories. Heaven knows that I will forever hold dear the three-tap-dancers-in-the-top-10 from the most recent Miss America pageant.

In fact, I’m going to go ahead and put this little video right here so that it’s in a convenient spot when I decide to watch it fourteen times in a row later this afternoon.

So anyway, I just wanted to make sure that we’re all clear on the details for this year’s Miss Mississippi finals, especially since I just discovered that there’s another way for us to watch, and we can still have our discussion right here on the blawg.

The Miss Mississippi App

Seriously. A Miss Mississippi app. IS THIS NOT A WONDER? I’m certainly not trying to encourage you to impulsively spend the 99 cents (plus tax), especially since I’ll be the first to admit that I’m a little cautious about how the app will be able to handle the live stream. But you’d better believe that I’m going to take a chance.

(There’s also a free version of the app, but the free version doesn’t have live stream capabilities.)

And if you’re not an iPhone or iPad person, there are apps for other platforms. Just take a look here.

Now I think this probably goes without saying, but I’ll say it anyway: I am linking to this app simply because I discovered its existence during my ongoing quest to maximize my Miss Mississippi viewing experience. But other than that, I don’t know anything about it. I can’t guarantee that it’ll work just because you spend a dollar on it.

And because I am a serious journalist who specializes in hard-hitting reporting on international events, I called the Miss Mississippi office to ask for lo, even more details about this year’s live stream. The pageant will still be available online (“on our website,” said the sweet girl who answered the phone), but the app will make the live stream experience more interactive.

I mean, just look at all of this information, people. It should surprise absolutely no one that I’m gonna use this app to study for this pageant like somebody’s gonna give me an exam grade.

It’s like my whole world just opened up.

Have a great weekend, everybody!

  1. I figured you would see the new App! I tweeted you about it but you probably didn’t get it because I always forget that my twitter is private, lol. I hope to be able to join the party thus year- I love to watch these!
Sorry about your newest house woes – clogged sinks are a pain!
    Missy (aka Missle)

  2. Is it going to be on TV here in Mississippi? I can’t find info about that on their website!

  3. You really should come to Vicksburg one year and watch it in person. SO different. The new Executive Director’s daughter was in my daughter’s kindergarten class last year. We have an IN! The parade is Monday night. It’s a week FULL of pageantry. Oh, and they always show i on WLBT (3) in central MS.

Man, that tap dancing was pretty impressive!

  4. Me and my daughter love watching pageants. We are in GA. I have to brag for a minute, but my daughter is a little beauty queen herself! She won two titles in high school, but it is a scholarship pageant and she got to do tons of community service hours along with her titles! I am so proud of her and her work!

  6. My Stars you make me giggle! Happy tap dance viewing!

  7. This will be my first time watching along with you during anything related to pageants. So looking forward to it.
Also…my kitchen is clogged right now too. I have a huge bottle of Drano on the counter waiting to be used but I’m slightly scared of Drano (and it’s cousins). I just know some will splash on my skin or IN MY EYES and will ruin my life. (I might be dramatic.)

  8. I can hardly believe it’s time again for Miss Mississippi! So excited!!

A quick glance at the contestants (and, yes, the app news is outstanding) and I see my favorite from last year, Shelby Corn, has returned. High hopes that Miss Corn becomes Miss Mississippi!

  9. I just cannot get enough of that video. Thank you for that treasure!

  10. Mary Kat's Mom says:

Wow! Didn’t the crowd love Miss New York’s tapping?!?!?

  11. Didn’t Jasmine compete on America Idol? I remember we had a Mississippi girl on there. I had loved this pageant since I was a little girl!

  12. An App with a whole bunch of info on each girl????? This is heaven. I’m off to see if Miss AR has a similar one. So exciting!!!!!

  13. What’s up to every body, it’s my first visit
of this web site; this website carries amazing and genuinely fine
    information in favor of visitors.
