The Big Boo Cast, Episode 41

Two things right off the bat:

1. We’re so happy that our good friend Travis Cottrell (aka FryDaddy) is with us on this episode of the podcast. It’s been way too long. I would love to tell you that we’ve been ironing out the details for months, but the fact of the matter is that we sort of pulled it all together about 9 o’clock Sunday night (please remember that this is nothing if not a fly-by-the-seat-of-our-pants operation). But oh my goodness – it is always the most fun to talk and laugh with Travis. Yay.

2. When I was editing I became aware of an issue we had the last time we recorded a three-person podcast – and that is that my microphone sounds way louder than everybody else. So please know that it was never my intention to scream at you.

Other than that, we cover all manner of topics: what we’re cooking this Christmas, the music of Bruno Mars (we were specifically talking about “Uptown Funk,” but I accidentally cut out the part where I said the name of the song), everything we adore about Jimmy Fallon, the wonder that is Amy Grant (seriously – this comes up in EVERY SINGLE PODCAST), our Christmas plans, the holiday music of Neil Diamond, and a whole bunch of other stuff.

You can click here to listen. Or here. You can even listen right here.

Or, as always, you can subscribe on iTunes if you’re feeling particularly fancy.

Hope y’all enjoy it – and Merry Christmas, everybody!

  1. I had JOY UNSPEAKABLE when I saw this podcast today! I have started a new job and they have me doing the most mind numbingly dull project while they are all gone for the holidays. (As someone who normally takes two weeks off at Christmas, I am heart sick to be holed up in an office). I came into my office, closed my sliding glass door (think modern, IKEA, prison cell with a glass sliding door) and listened to the podcast while I worked. And, oh, did I laugh. Belly laughs. Then, when I thought it was over, I hear Neil Diamond. Y’all get me everytime. Thanks for the laughs and entertainment!

  2. I made the White Chicken Chili but made some changes. IT WAS SO GOOD. http://thedomesticlady.com/2014/12/22/white-chicken-chili-thedomesticlady-com/

  3. This was such a wonderful little Christmas treat! I listened on my hour-long drive in to work this morning and was cracking up. Travis singing like Neil Diamond was just too much!! Merry Christmas to you and yours!!

  4. Lisa Bingham says:

Thank you! It was such a delight!

  5. Ann in Maryland says:

It’s like an early Christmas present! Thank you so much! Love hearing you and Melanie and your “special guest.”

  6. Robin in Meridian says:

Just KNEW the 3 of you would leave us with “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” or something! After all, it was Travis! Thanks for sharing your time with us! Merry Christmas!

  7. Oh my! I too am all tore up- what a precious time listening to this. Just what my heart needed today. Merry Christmas Sophie!

  8. Yay! You gave me something fun to listen to while I scrubbed bathrooms in preparation for company! This one was a particular jewel, although I love them all! Merry Christmas!

  9. so entertaining! and Neil Diamond: definitely has Christmas albums! When my now 25 yr old nephew was very young, he had a real thing for ND, especially at Christmas. everyone had to be quiet and he was totally mesmerized by the songs. Perry Como had that same effect on me when I was a wee girl.

  10. Karen Beymer says:

Oh my goodness, I had to listen again as I was taking my 3 hour drive home from our
Christmas family gathering. Laughed at the good fun ya’ll have together & the easy
Manner you relate to one another. Shed a tear at Travis’s little old lady story but had to smile
At your comment you were so touched you ” had to get in the your bed” bless your heart.

  11. These podcasts are just the best thing ever.
