I don’t mind saying that I’m a little punchy in this podcast. In fact, I had to sort of dial myself back a few notches about midway through. Please pardon all my very strong opinions about and objections to things that are really not important at all.
(I like to think that my absence of charm is connected at least in part to the antibiotic I’ve been taking this last week.)
(Apparently it’s turned me into FEISTY MCGEE.)
Also, Melanie has a bit of a cough this time around. For some reason it entertains me to no end.
Anyway, we talk about sandals, musicals, Melanie’s debut as a clue on Let’s Make a Deal, my misguided experimentation with hairspray, our mutual love for crackers, Mel’s cough syrup preferences, Noonday jewelry, and Talenti gelato (which is UNBELIEVABLE).
You can click here to listen. Or here. You can even listen right here.
Or, as always, you can subscribe on iTunes if you’re feeling particularly fancy.
Hope y’all enjoy it!
p.s. The crackers we mention are John Wm. Macy’s Asiago & Cheddar Cheese Crisps. :-)
If food could be a spirit animal my would be Talenti’s Southern Butter Pecan gelato. I can only eat a little at a time because it is so thick and rich, but wow is that good stuff.
What is the name of the crackers?
I must admit when you started talking about crackers and then being “cracker” experts my mind went to the slang form of the work “cracker” — Cracker, sometimes white cracker or cracka, is a usually derogatory term for white people, especially poor rural whites in the Southern United States. Then I was “cracking” up…see what I did there???
Love listening to you guys and got a laugh out of the Sound of Music clip during the exit music.
My mother introduced me to O’Carr’s on Monday and all I could think of when I saw their chicken salad and fruit platter was how much I KNEW you were going to love it. They stick like five or six different varieties of crackers in the chicken salad! We went to the one in Cahaba Heights… yum.
It’s not the antibiotics making you all feisty. It’s the steroids. Seriously!
You must watch The Sound of Music. You simply must.
Agree! It’s not a “war” movie with lots of fighting etc, but really a love story. a beautiful love story. with good music. and beautiful scenery. and Christopher Plummer! It’s better than Love Actually where poor Emma Thompson gets her heart ripped apart. honest.
I haven’t listened yet (I will when I put the kids to bed). But YES Talenti! Sea salt caramel? Don’t mind if I do!
Sophie –
“dial yourself back”? Never. Be yourself, please! I loved the beginning, then it sort of got…dull…and I realized we had entered the non-punchy part. You are so fun, antibiotics and all!
I like to think of your podcast as interactive. :) I typically have my laptop close so I can look up whatever y’all end up talking about and shop with you. Love the podcasts!
Don’t change the podcast intro music! It’s so adorably ridiculous it makes me laugh every single time.
I have to tell you I don’t know that I have laughed as hard as I did just now listening to this podcast. It was like sitting at a table with my bff eating chips and salsa and talking about the silliest things. It was wonderful. and yes, you must watch Sound of Music. It might be a game changer for your hatred of musicals :)
I don’t care for musicals either. I did enjoy Sound of Music, but I was interested in Maria Von Trapp’s story first. I have only sat through Gone With The Wind once, but I have read the book multiple times. You know those women during the 1800’s had to have been dying of the heat with all those clothes on in August. But I will never forget how cold I was as I watched Dr. Zhivago in the theater in 1966. I was a senior in high school and I though I would freeze to death! Even when I watch it now, I have to wrap up in a blanket. Love the pod cast no matter the music; you guys are a riot.
I saved this podcast for my commute in Houston traffic this morning. As usual, it did NOT disappoint as a WELCOME DISTRACTION from watching tail lights and the stop/go of it all. I am SO onboard with your feelings toward The Sound of Music. Now listen, I love a good musical. I mean LOVE. Even the old ones like South Pacific, Music Man, and My Fair Lady. I can sing the songs and know the story lines. And yet, as unAmerican as it is to say this, I detest the Sound of Music. I am likely the only one on the planet that does NOT swoon over it and will be the one to tell you that you aren’t missing a thing by not watching it. Of course, I have just opened myself up to all sorts of web based scrutiny. But, I felt the need to stand in some sort of solidarity with you in your choice to not see the movie. Power on!
I too, listen to their podcast as a distraction from the nightmare that is Houston traffic.
You had me at Talenti! Sea Salt Caramel!
