The Big Boo Cast, Episode 80

bigboographic

It’s always a treat to have our friend Travis Cottrell on the podcast, and this episode is no exception. We cover a wide stretch of conversational ground: favorite football snacks, the wonder of an Amish donut, our ever-growing kids, current Bible study options, and, of course, our obsession with rose hip oil.

(That last one was more of a discussion between Melanie and me. But Travis was as patient as he could be when we talked about it.)

(Or maybe he was just distracted.)

We also reminisce about shampoos from the 70s. I would try to give you some context, but it’s probably just easier if you listen for yourself. And no joke:¬†Melanie must have taken her one-liner pill before we recorded; there are some Shankle Gems (I think we may have to trademark that phrase) (only not really) scattered throughout.

Enjoy, y’all!

  1. Well this was just a DELIGHT! So enjoyed listening!
I can’t believe I just ordered the rose hip oil… here’s to trying new things!
Fun fact, when I’m listening to your podcast when one of the kids is around they always stop to listen when Fry Daddy makes an appearance, they think he is SO FUNNY!

  2. One more thing… Do you and Melanie actually sleep on those mattress you talked about? We are in the market for a new mattress so I’d love to know if you really do recommend this one.
    Thank you!!!

  3. Well, I’m telling you what — y’all flat outdid yourselves on this one. I have laughed so hard I think I’m gonna pop. And Travis. Well he is an unbridled delight. Whenever he’s on the podcast, it is a winner for sure and today was no exception. And to top it all off, there is little in the audio/video world that gives me more joy than an outtake. I was just about to turn off the cast when, lo and behold — an Easter egg of outtakes. Bravo, Sophie, bra-VO!!!!!!!

  4. I can’t believe you did not mention Body on Tap and Fabrege shampoos! There were 70s staples in our house.

  5. Michelle Nisbet says:

“This makes me sooo happy!” Soph, your voice exclaims that phrase in my head as I listened to y’all this morning. Thanks for keeping on. Listening to you and Mel is such a treat every time.

  6. Cracked me up when Travis checked out to wash his muscadines.

  7. Toni Home Perms: the smell was something else. We had a Siberian Husky and when that dog was wet, she smelled EXACTLY like a Toni Home Perm. Ugh.

When it rained, my husband would call her Toni. It was awful….

  8. Ya’ll should have Travis once a month and call the segment “Three’s Company”. The three of you are hilarious when you get together. I laughed until I cried when Travis barked three times for Melanie. Also, you can tell Melanie her hair trend lives on. I wet my three year old’s hair in the morning and scrunch it to make it curl. Lol! Works like a charm! Thanks ladies for all ya’ll do!

  9. Teddie Organics Rosehip Oil is nectar of the gods! Two weeks in and my skin has never looked better! I passed on the snail serum… soooo glad I tried this! Thanks for all the beauty tips and reviews!
