Four Things, Oh-So-Briefly

1. We had to cancel the birthday party because of rain. The little man was a remarkably good sport about it because his older cousins are here this weekend, and that is a party in and of itself. In fact, the Cousin Party just shut down for the night, and it is about 11:45. They are having a blast.

And despite the fact that we had to postpone the party for a few days, it was actually a really wonderful birthday. We had cake and ice cream with the family this afternoon, grilled hamburgers tonight, and the boys played more Wii than humans should be allowed. So much fun.

2. My beloved Bulldogs beat Alabama in overtime tonight in the quarterfinals of the SEC Tournament. And when the Bulldogs were about two minutes away from their victory, the roof literally came off the Georgia Dome. I’m not kidding.

I’m telling you: that game shaved a solid decade off of my life. SWEET MERCIFUL GOODNESS. If the rest of the tournament follows tonight’s lead, then I’m going to require some sort of oxygen tank before I watch tomorrow’s semi-finals. And perhaps even a defibrilator. With a medic on standby.

3. Today the mailman brought us a package from some sweet friends in Texas.

This is what was inside the box.

It’s PERFECTION! Thanks, Wisners!

And fortunately, despite a lively in-house basketball game between my nephews, our roof remained intact.

If only the Georgia Dome could say the same.

4. The oh-so-talented Jules redesigned my blog, and I pretty much squealed and clapped my hands when I saw this new look for the first time. I love it! I have been wild about all of my blog designs but just felt ready for a change – something fresh and (just a little bit) funky for spring. I’ll give you all the design scoop on Monday.

Hope y’all have a great weekend!

  1. Love the new design!

  2. I can’t see the new design on my AOL browser. :(

  3. I ADORE the new blog design. Very spring! We’re just barely starting to get blossoms here in the great Northwest…and the squirrels are going NUTS trying to find their…yeah. Nuts.

  4. I LOVE your new look!

I heard about the roof coming off the dome! That’s totally wild!

  5. I squealed when I first saw the new header, not having read your post yet. BEAUTIFUL Blog!

  6. VERY glad you kept your signature green. What’s Boomama without bright, inyourface green?

  7. Love the dogwoods(?), they remind me of my Granny who had one in her front yard. Love it!

  8. I love the new design, I just re did mine tonight too!

I’m about an hour from Atlanta and it was a bad storm/tornado and they are calling for more tomorrow!
    Jen

  9. Ooooo, pretty!

  10. I LOVE the new layout. Perfect for spring and the colors and design are great!

  11. I saw that video of the dome lifting and sifting! It’s storming here now. Hail covering the ground and all that good stuff. Yeah.

Happy Birthday to Howard! Y’all have a good visit with all the family.

I like your new look! Jules did a great job. The apple blossoms really say “Spring!”

Tell Sister “Hi” for me if she doesn’t read this…

    Love and hugs,

    Diane

  12. I love the new look! My parents were at the game and 1. they said it was the craziest thing they had ever been through, and 2. isn’t it great that the State/AL game went into overtime or else all those people would have been leaving during the tornado and a lot could have been hurt. Anyways.. yay State and I hope this doesn’t screw up KY!

  13. LOVING your new spring look!

  14. LOVING your new spring look!

  15. kelly a says:

love the new look..the colors are beautiful!!!

  16. I like the new look. I changed my banner about a week ago. Spring must bring out the desire to redo one’s blog.

  17. Love the new design! So pretty but yet funky! When I heard what happened during the Miss. State/AL game at the Georgia Dome I thought of you. What a game! :)

  18. The new design looks great.

  19. The new design is GREAT!! Love it!

  20. That “miracle shot” was a miracle in more than one way. If the game had ended in regulation, all those people would have been in the streets… and there would have been quite a few fatalities. I’ve just been writing about the tornado on my blog… So horrible…

  21. Glad the birthday wasn’t sad despite the party cancellation. Been watching some b-ball myself here (my HS team played in the Target center last night). No roof comin’ off here, though. :)

  22. I hope that KY playing twice today totally wears them out. I hope they stayed at the GA Dome late to find out if they would play last night or not. And then I hope that they are sluggish for the late night game.

    We’ll see.

  23. I immediately thought of you when I saw the Dome last night on the news. I knew you would be watching! Now you can say your Bulldogs brought down the house with their performance! We are fine where we are, but downtown is pretty torn up. Tell Howard “happy birthday”!

  24. Lovelovelove the new design and truthfully – the way y’all celebrated Howard’s b’day sounds perfect. Happy Birthday to that handsome lil man – and cool b’ball goal!

  25. ‘Tis the season for blog redesign–I just did mine. I LOOOOVE yours though. Seriously spring, but still BooMama fantastic.

  26. LOVE the new blog-do!!!

  27. I know I commented on your uber-chic design when I discovered it last night, but know what I really like? Your signature at the bottom of the page. It’s the little details that always catch my eye :).

And about the rest of y’all’s shenanigans? About all I can say about that is “things” happen for a reason…:)

  28. I love your new design!!

  29. Totally love the new design!

    Very spring.

  30. Very chi-chi!

  31. We need to both win our games today again so the Dogs and the Hogs can meet up in the SEC final!!!! :-)
I’m really not too hopeful for the hogs to beat TN but miracles do happen!

  32. Love the new look.

  33. What a great new design!
And what a hoot about the Georgia Dome! LOL

  34. Your new design is absolutely adorable! I love the colors; very fresh and fun!

  35. LOVE the new blog design! So stylish! :)

  36. Love the new look. I’ve been waiting on a new design since October. Sigh. someday…

  37. Chiming in to say that I Love The New Design! Makes me want a new design EVEN MORE!

  38. Oooooh I love the new design! Happy Birthday, Little Man!

  39. I clicked over to Everyday Mom to see your new header, but it is not showing up on your blog for me. I use Safari. Is that why your old header is still up for me?

  40. Just noticed on your sidebar that you are reading Mitford–yay! Not everyone loves it, but those who do (like me) find it so lovable and comforting and warm.

Love the new look. It’s awesome–fun and funky, but there’s something peaceful about those flowers in the header as well.

  41. When you’re blog popped up I literally gasped with delight and sqealed OOO PRETTY! I LOVE IT! OH LOOK, I just saw your cute signature in the bottom right corner..Oh it’s just PERFECT!

And MERCY, what a GAME! I bet you do need some oxygen. I’m glad your boys won!

  42. I squealed too, when I saw it. Ooh la la, I love it!!

  43. First, I LOVE this new look!!!! Very cool..

Second, congrat’s to your Bulldogs! We live in the Atlanta area and were shocked when the storms came through and the roof “came off”! I felt so sorry for those players!

Thank the Lord, they were in overtime or all those people would have been in the streets!

    Have a blessed weekend!
    stephanie

  44. Love, love it! Blues and greens are my faves! Cute signature there at the bottom. Love the little details all around!

  45. I do love the new bloggy.

Chris is on tenterhooks as UK plays at noon today, then if they win at 8:45 tonight, and then again 12:45pm tomorrow.

    That’s a lot of basketball.

  46. Worked like a charm! Thanks, BooMama!

  47. LOVE the new design! Fresh and sassy, just like you!

  48. Hey, Sophie, glad you made it back safe & sound from Africa. It sounded like an awesome experience. Love your new blog design too. See ya!

    Rhoda

  49. Stephanie says:

    Loving the new look!!

  50. Really a great look!

  51. What a night here in GA! I’m glad you had a victory. We had little sleep worrying about what might come our way after watching all of that damage as the news crews got on the scene.

We ended up having to get all 4 kids out of bed at 6:30am for a tornado warning again. After what we saw on TV last night we knew mother nature wasn’t joking around.

They must be more like their daddy because they were ok about us grabbing them out of their slumber. I would have been less than happy if they did that to me!

Good luck today! And great new design.

  52. I love the new look. It’s fabulous!!

  53. I was watching the Tennessee – South Carolina game while ” trying to iron,(and eat) Whooo, it wore me out too. I called my Husband and told him we were having chicken for dinner because my nerves were shot! Every-body’s talking about it here in Knoxville!

  54. Carolyn in MS says:

The new design is lovely, lovely. I also loved it when the cousins came to visit, back in the day. Too much fun. But, (and I really feel badly about this) I can’t stand basketball. Sorry! Have a good weekend!

  55. I literally gasped when I saw the new design. Love. it.

  56. Heard about the roof. Scary! My dad was watching the game and said it was strange.

Where did your friends get that hoop? It would be a PERFECT gift for my step-mom,who loves all things MS! It would pain me to buy it, but I love her so much I could handle it. Email me, please, if you can with the info.

Also, if you have not heard of the author Nicole Seitz, you should check her out. Her books are amazing! And she’s a good Southern girl too!

  57. sara l. says:

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the new look! Have a GREAT weekend!

  58. Beautiful new design. Hopefully, spring will spring pretty soon around here. We had six inches of snow last weekend.

  59. New design is boo ti ful

  60. Love the new look! so springy, it makes me forget it’s snowing here…momentarily of course.

    Happy Birthday to Alex!

  61. Jules is doing a new blog design for me, too. She is awesome! I love your new look.

  62. I really like the new look. Very spring like.
    Smiles!

  63. Love the new look of your blog! That overtime probably saved many, many lives. There was a tornado that hit downtown Atlanta last night. Lots of damage. If the game had ended earlier all those people would have been out on the street when the storm hit. We spent about 30 minutes in our basement.

  64. Love the new design!!! I sooooo need a new one! And the storms have been frightening lately!! I’ll settle for our 50-inches of snow instead of roofs being blown off!!

    Keep safe!

  65. I love the new design, and just want to encourage you with this thought: When I have time to sit down and only read three blogs, yours is one of them. You always make me smile. You always say something positive. You always encourage me. So thanks.

  66. The Hogs just beat Tennessee in the last five seconds! Pulling for Miss. State tonight–wouldn’t it be fun if we played in the finals?

  67. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your new design!!

  68. I know, that was totally scary, I was up till midnight last night waiting on my cats to play, but they postponed till today. We lost, in over time, bless their sweet hearts.

  69. *sigh*. Couldn’t they see that they had to just run, run, run and wear Georgia out, since they had to play this morning and all? I’m so disappointed. But oh, honey, those Mitford books are so awesome! I lost a lot of sleep because I would read into the wee hours. And because I think I’m getting early Alzheimers (I’m only 45) I forget so much of what I read I’m ready to dig into them again. Love your new design. I guess we’ll have to gnaw our nails tomorrow night to see if we still make the Big Dance

  70. What a happy, upbeat post! Sounds like a great time was had!

  71. Oooo. PRETTY!!!

  72. Love the new design…oh-so-refreshing and fun!

  73. Your new design is very cheerful and I love it. Sorry about the birthday party cancellation! I’m glad the cousin party was still a hit.

  74. All I said was, “oooo” I’m such a girl!

  75. I LOVE IT, too!!!!
We were on the interstate driving through ATL when the tornado went through. when I heard about the Dome I thought about you immediately!

  76. love the new look! we start spring break tomorrow; i don’t know when yours is, but i hope you enjoy it as much as i plan to.

  77. I like the new design! It’s so fresh! I can’t think of anything more clever to say about it. Sorry if this is your most boring comment ever! It’s late.

  78. I love the new design!

  79. so, last night my husband brought up the tornadoes in our beloved home state of Georgia. and, being the AVID UGA fan that he is, starts telling me about how they (that would be the GEORGIA bulldogs) were doing this basketball season, and about how they’ve totally been winning games and are headed to the playoffs or something like that.

well, i’d already your report on YOUR bulldogs, and then i had to listen to HIS report on HIS bulldogs.

    i just sat there silently & blinked…

i’ve never been so confused in my non-basketball-fandom life. it was like deja vu.

    ‘cept NOT the same Bulldogs.

    no. not the same.

  80. Do you remember the song, “Bulldog Blitz”? I had the ’45

  81. screw the design…it’s March Madness, people…..c’mon…..get with it and drink that kool-aid……most of ya’ll are southerners….you must have some SEC kool-aid layin’ around…..go DAWGS….

I will say, “I don’t see them beating Memphis”.

  82. Oooo, WOW…I totally LOVE the new design.

  83. The blog looks so great Boo! It’s a wonderful new look for you!

Happy Birthday to the big guy!!
