Amy Grant “She Colors My Day” Giveaway

she-colors-my-day-ep

You may remember that a couple of weeks ago we all pretty much agreed that Amy Grant is most definitely our closest, dearest friend who we’ve never actually met. In short, she’s the internets’ BFF. And she also has a brand-spankin’ new EP called “She Colors My Day” that came out on iTunes yesterday.

(I always feel like I’m supposed to pretend like I’m cool and hip and say something like “it dropped on Five-Five-Oh-Nine, y’all” – but since I’m neither cool nor hip, I will ignore that particular inclination.)

Anyway, a couple of weeks ago a very nice person who works at Amy Grant’s record label emailed me to see if I’d be interested in doing a giveaway to celebrate the new EP, and since I had just been to the ASCAP Awards and stared at Amy Grant from afar LO, MERE HOURS BEFOREHAND, I could not possibly resist. Plus, the more we emailed and plotted and planned, the more I realized that this may be one of my most favoritest giveaways ever in history of the blawg amen.

Oh, just you wait and see, my friends.

The first prize up for grabs – and this would be enough in and of itself, oh yes it would – is a copy of the new EP to ten very lucky winners.

But there’s also a grand prize, and just thinking about the grand prize makes me want to dance a jig, though preferably my jig would be choreographed to the soothing sounds of Amy Grant’s music. I feel that’s only appropriate.

Okay. Here’s what the Grand Prize Winner will receive:

(DANCING!)

(JIG!)

1. Philosophy’s Makeup Optional Skin Care Kit

If you added up the cost of each product in the kit, this would be $129 worth-o-skin care. It retails for $78.

Hello, pampering. I do enjoy you.

2. Seventeen Different Amy Grant CDs

Yes. You read correctly. SEVENTEEN of them. Do you have any idea HOW MUCH SINGING YOU COULD DO WITH SEVENTEEN AMY GRANT CDs?

I will answer: A LOT.

3. A Real-Live Phone Call From Amy Grant

I’m not talking about a recording calling your phone, people. I’m talking about your phone ringing and you saying “Hello?” and the person on the other end saying, “Hey, [insert name of stunned winner here], this is Amy Grant. Are you cooking some peas for supper? I was thinking about cooking some peas.” And then y’all can compare recipes and squeal and you can tell her how much you loved her concert back in 1988 when you wore your oversized pink and black striped shirt that you bought at The Limited.

Or something along those lines.

So, if you would like to win one of the 10 EPs OR what I’m now referring to as The Big Ole Honkin’ Grand Prize, here’s what you need to do.

1. Head over to iTunes and listen to samples of the four songs on the new “She Colors My Day” EP.

(By the way, while I can see how many people click out to iTunes, I can’t see WHO has clicked out to iTunes. So just understand that if you leave a comment on this giveaway, you are giving me your word that you’ve clicked out to iTunes and followed all the giveaway instructions. Because remember, internets: lying makes God sad. Oh yes it does.)

2. Come back here and leave a comment that tells me the name of your favorite Amy Grant song of all time.

3. If you want additional entries in the giveaway, there are three ways you can do that – which means you could possibly have four entries total. Here’s how to get the additional entries after you leave your first comment:

- put a link to the “She Colors My Day” iTunes page on your blog, then come back here and leave a new comment telling me what you’ve done.

- put a link to the “She Colors My Day” iTunes page on your Facebook page, then come back here and leave a new comment telling me what you’ve done.

- put a link to the “She Colors My Day” iTunes page on your Twitter (ARE YOU NOTICING A PATTERN?), then come back here and leave a new comment telling me what you’ve done.

And just to make it super easy, here’s the code for a link to the iTunes page (trust me – it looks complicated, but it works like a charm):

http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?id=312266687&s=143441

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make sure your link goes to the EP page on iTunes and NOT to this post. You shouldn’t even mention this post when you’re doing all your fancy linking. Just mention the EP.

Remember, you can have 4 entries on this particular giveaway, but YOU MUST LEAVE SEPARATE COMMENTS FOR EACH ENTRY.

This giveaway will remain open until Wednesday, May 13, at which point I’ll draw for the eleven winners using our trusty random.org.

Have an Amy-filled day, everybody!

This giveaway is now closed.

Well, I was always a fan of Baby, Baby (fun to hear the clip again) but I loved the song “Hats” off of the same album, I think. I was in about 3rd grade and just the idea of hats thrilled me. I now understand the real meaing. Still love it.

Jeanette May 6, 2009 at 2:01 pm

Amy Grant Rocks! Ha! I love El Shaddai. Her voice is wonderful. Great giveaway! Her Christmas Aalum is my favorite.

Gabby May 6, 2009 at 2:22 pm

El Sha-ddai

Can I talk to her for hours about her hair, and how the texture of our hair and waves are similar… and how I sang one of her songs in church when I was 9 and forgot several of the lines… that was embarrassing.
I love her.

Paige May 6, 2009 at 2:24 pm

El Shaddia is my favorite. Not only a powerful song, but peaceful also.

Rhonda May 6, 2009 at 2:25 pm

I saw Amy Grant in concert several months ago in the Seattle area. Boy did that bring back memories of my teen years. Lead me On would probably be my all time favorite song.

KellyPS May 6, 2009 at 2:29 pm

If These Walls Could Speak. The whole Legacy Hymns and Faith album! Especially Be Still My Soul.

Emily May 6, 2009 at 2:31 pm

My favoritest AG song ever?? Ooh… that’s like asking me to pick the best piece of chocolate I’ve ever eaten!

I have to go with In a Little While.

Emily May 6, 2009 at 2:32 pm

I twittered Amy’s link!

Heh… I just got a “You’re posting comments too quickly. SLow down!” message. Apparently WordPress does not appreciate the fabulousness of your Grand Prize!

Emily May 6, 2009 at 2:32 pm

And Amy’s up on my Facebook page!

Sarah at themommylogues May 6, 2009 at 2:34 pm

I would just like to say that I went to her EP through my itunes on my computer and not the link, so although I didn’t click out from here, I am still very much a rule follower. : )

I would say my favorite Amy is Breath of Heaven, because I can’t get enough of it. But for non-Christmas I’d say El Shaddai or Father’s Eyes. Does it get better than The Collection?

Marci May 6, 2009 at 2:35 pm

Oh My!! Let me just say, I didn’t know there was much other Christian music except Sandi Patty, Smitty, and the great Amy Grant growing up. I nearly passed out the first time I saw “The Collection”. I had to have it immediately. My favorite song would have to be “Sing Your Praise to the Lord”. I just love every little bit of that song!

Marci May 6, 2009 at 2:43 pm

Just put the link on my blog!

Aimee May 6, 2009 at 2:49 pm

Yippee! I love me some Amy! My first concert ever, in Charlotte, NC at the amphitheater.

Favorite song….her acoustic rendition of “This is My Father’s World”. It gives me chills and rights my perspective every time.

Aimee May 6, 2009 at 2:50 pm

Just posted the link on my fb page.

Two down, two to go…

Leah May 6, 2009 at 2:53 pm

Love this! My favorite AG song would be Breath of Heaven…..(Long time reader, first time contest participant!)

Marty May 6, 2009 at 2:54 pm

Heather May 6, 2009 at 2:55 pm

I love “El Shaddai” and “Stay for a while” … and I’m totally in trouble after visiting her ITunes channel. ha!

2nd Cup Linda May 6, 2009 at 2:55 pm

I have listened to the tunes. I am a long, long, long-term fan of Amy Grant, and when I was working through depression about 10 years ago, I credit one album in particular that God used to help pull me out of the pit of despair: Behind the Eyes, with my favorite song being Cry a River. I would love the chance to tell her how much her music has meant to me, so I’m in! Linking up on blog and Facebook.

edj May 6, 2009 at 2:55 pm

Ok, just to be completely honest, I clicked over to iTunes but iTunes, in their infinite and ethnocentric worldview, won’t let me download anything because I’m in Africa so apparently I must be dishonest. So. I tried. (They’re not the only ones; hulu, for example, and netflix are in the same boat)

My all time fav is prob El Shaddai. So beautiful.

edj May 6, 2009 at 2:56 pm

Also skype and paypal. Yep. Live in Africa and you’re probably a Nigerian scammer. Some online sites won’t let you use your cc either. Just felt the need to rant. Do you care? Prob not. Sorry.

Grew up thinking I KNEW her b/c we shared the same first name…until I realized that everyone from the mid 60s and late 70s named their daughters Amy (trust me…lived in a boarding school with 30 girls and 6 Amys on my hall!)
Anyhoooo…El Shaddai has always been my fav. Amy Grant was my first concert ever, along with MWS, and when she sang this, I cried!

teri May 6, 2009 at 3:08 pm

Favorite song: Heirloom.

Boo Mama: You are amazing in your linked-ness. First the picture of AG, now the give away. I think they should let you have lunch with the gal. So you can get her hair secrets for the rest of us.

my favorite song is “let me say once more.” when i was growing up, i would think of my mom when i heard it. since i was (and still am) a pretty insecure person, this gave me extra assurance to get through some tough days.
