I’m Not Here Because I’m There

Hey y’all -

After I mentioned The Blacklist in yesterday’s post, I watched the first episode. And I think it’s safe to say that I am hooked.

I’m so hooked, in fact, that I wrote a post about it for Ree’s blog.

I know it’s early in the season, but I really do think that The Blacklist holds all sorts of promise. Provided, of course, that you’re into spy-ish stuff. And government-y intrigue. And whathaveyou.

Happy Wednesday!

Only A Click Away

Well, I am just as tickled as I can be because a little while ago I checked to see what was on the DVR when I was folding clothes – and lo and behold, there is a new season of Project Runway.

I had no idea it was time for a new season, but I’m so excited to watch. I’ve only seen about the first 15 minutes so far, but that was long enough to find out that the accessory wall is now sponsored by Belk. Or the Belks, I should say. And that made me smile.

Anyway, I don’t have anything new for here today, but I do have a post up over at the Barnes & Noble blog. It’s about the South and summertime. As you might imagine, I have a thing or two to say about air conditioning.

Hope y’all have a great weekend!

Over There

Hey everybody -

I’m sitting here editing a podcast (another one! I know!), and it occurred to me that since I didn’t post anything new here today, it might be nice if I pointed you in the direction of another post that I wrote. It’s over at Ree’s, and it’s all about some of my favorite summertime music (so far).

Hope y’all are having a great Monday!

Over There

Hey bloggy people -

I don’t have a new post here today, but I do have a new post over at Ree’s. It’s about the new movie adaptation of The Great Gatsby, and as you can imagine, the 19 year-old English major who forever lives deep down inside of me is BESIDE HERSELF with excitement.

She’s also wearing a really big plaid hair bow. She’s probably wearing a Cambridge Dry Goods sweater, too.

Old habits die hard.

Happy Tuesday, y’all!

I’m Not Here…

…but I am over here today.

And I’m talking about TV.

Checking In

Yesterday I flew to Lincoln, Nebraska, so I’ll be doing lots of blogging here this weekend. Feel free to stop by early and often. Or, you know, once. Whatever suits your fancy.

I know that it’s not exactly a surprise, but nobody here sounds like I do. It makes me feel like my Southern accent is some sort of foghorn. I say words, and people hear this:

I may need to enlist the services of an interpreter so that I can communicate with others more effectively. I can’t blame people for not being able to understand me; after all, I say things like “foel” instead of “foil,” “windah” instead of “window,” “Fridee” instead of “Friday.” I’m a strange-talking visitor in the land of straight-talking midwesterners.

Last night I was in the hotel lobby when I saw a guy wearing an Ole Miss cap. He was with a pretty large group of people, and when we were waiting for the elevator, I said, “Do you go to Ole Miss?”

He grinned and said, “Yes ma’am, I do.”

I said, “Well. I went to Mississippi State.”

And everybody in his group died laughing. They totally understood the rivalry. Turns out that they live in Memphis, and for just a split second, everything sounded like home.

Have a great weekend, y’all!
