Love Story EP Giveaway

So back in the fall Lora Lynn emailed me one Sunday afternoon and said something along the lines of “MY WORD, WHO WAS THE GIRL WHO SANG IN CHURCH THIS MORNING, BECAUSE SHE WAS PHENOMENAL, THANK YOU.”

But we were out of town that Sunday, and I missed it, and I couldn’t answer Lora Lynn’s question, and she told me she wouldn’t be my friend anymore.

Okay. Not really. But wouldn’t that make for a good story?

Anyway, that very same girl sang again in church a few weeks later, and it was all I could do not to stand up and look at the people around us and then point at the stage and say, “PEOPLE? DO YOU HEAR HER? DO YOU HEAR? HER? SINGING? IT’S AN ANGEL!”

Sometimes my reactions to music are a little on the strong side.

Well. Fast forward to Christmas Eve. The same girl – and by that point I knew her name was Mandi because I asked my friend Leigh who sings on praise team – sang again. I actually wrote down phrases from the song she sang so I could Google it when I got home. But the Googleage was futile. The song wasn’t on the internet because as it turns out Mandi had written it just for the Christmas Eve service.

Then.

Right after Christmas I was talking to our worship pastor, Jim, and I said, “OH MY WORD CAN WE PLEASE TALK ABOUT MANDI MAPES AND HER SUPER-TALENT?” And he told me how much Mandi loves serving the Lord by leading worship, and he told me that there was a CD project in her future, and he told me he would let me know the second the CDs were ready.

And about a month ago, he did just that. He said that Mandi had written the songs on the CD to accompany our pastor’s “Love Story” series on the book of Ruth, and he told me the CD was awesome, and when I asked him if I could give away some of the CDs here on the blog because OH MY WORD AT THE WORSHIP, he said yes. For no other reason than he hopes Mandi’s music will minister to some folks on the wide world interweb.
